He's smart enough to learn from the other Fernando just how much fans here will value him and love him. He's going to be hero here. If he's going to other clubs like Man City, Chelsea or PSG, he's just going to be back up player. If he's after Champions League football he would have left long time ago.

Money, first team football, worship by fans, Spanish connection here - so why not?
Rather than just money and sit on the bench with other clubs.

Arsenal should be the least to worry about. They wont pay big wages biggrin.gif

His age and price would most probably deter FSG. They wouldn't even pay 6 mil for Dempsey. I read that FSG were very keen on Sturridge, but apparently Brandan vetoed the move. I reckon FSG only cares about potential resell value.

If Yesil and Morgan can do well, then thank God. If not, we got to be realistic and get a striker in to save our season.
He's keeping his faith with Mr. Fabio Borini anyway while playing him wide left. I just dont get it.

27 and cheap. Seems like a better option than Dempsey at 29. Cant see how FSG disagree to this knowing the desperation of fans now. They will do something in January.

FSG should not be blamed for wanting smart business. Smart owners keep the club running in healthy financial status. They cannot be like us. Emotionally driven and make decision based on heart.

I'm not blaming them at the moment, which is why i think they won't go for Llorente. They preferred Sturridge and were prepared to pay over the odds for the player, making that deal way more expensive than Dempsey. I doubt Llorente will come cheap, regardless of his contract situation, because there won't be short of any suitors. Spurs would probably just bid for the sake of bidding.

If you are talking about the contract that we have to offer him, yes. It wont be cheap. We will have to offer 90k to 100k to stand any chance I guess.
If you are talking about the transfer fee, it is out of Athletic Bilbao's hand.

Our biggest challenger is not Spurs but Real Madrid. Not sure about the Sturridge mixed up though. But one thing I am quite sure. FSG will do something in January. They wont sit down quietly. They will respond to our frustration.

I wouldn't ignore Spurs. They have a habit of targeting the players we want. They managed to hijacked 2 of the 3 players we wanted; Sahin, Sigurddson and Dempsey. All those in just one transfer window.

The 100k salary will be a problem i think. FSG worked hard to reduce our wages over the summer, i don't think they will be pay that much - especially when there's a the chance of Carroll coming back sooner than expected.

But yeah we'll see. I too think we'll defo sign someone in January.

The former editor of the Sun newspaper Kelvin MacKenzie repeatedly refuses to answer questions about his role in the paper's coverage of the Hillsborough football tragedy.

If Spurs go for this, it will be quite crazy of them as they already have Demps, Defoe and Adebayor in their line-up.

Probably the wage is going to cause a problem but the figure is just my prediction. He's currently getting $40K euro per week at Bilbao. Probably Caroll's wages can fund his wage?

The chances of taking Caroll back is really slim especially if they have the option of signing someone BR wants. If Caroll comes back, how is he fitting in to the plan? I just cant see it.

And yes, I dont think FSG will take the chance of disappointing the fans one more time in January knowing fair well the discontentment last window has caused unless they are prepare for suicidal mission. biggrin.gif

Some of us wanted Falcao but I dont think that's possible financially unless Falcao himself is so interested to join us that he hand in a transfer request (Just like how Torres told the board to accept Liverpool's offer in 2007) and we manage to get him at a really good price. He's now rated at $40 million. Really crazy price.

Added on September 19, 2012, 5:16 pmAnd I really cannot understand how Atletico Madrid seems to be so capable of spotting great players better than us. First Sergio Aguerro then Radamel Falcao while we go for Robbie Keane and Andy Caroll.

If he wins the League Cup with us, he's the main hero. People in the city worship him. He wins Champions League with Chelsea but he's just an added cast. People dont remember him playing a big part at all. They will however remember how he lost his temper at Roberto Di Matteo when he was not selected for the penalty shootout vs Bayern. biggrin.gif

Kinda points to the fact he left for money doesn't it? I mean he was on the verge of becoming a legend at the club and in such a short time. He kept saying that fans don't understand why he left. Well he hasn't really explained it to us has he?

No, he actually took a pay cut to join Chelsea. I'm quite surprised at this too. Chelsea presents him with more opportunities to win trophies and he's getting it - FA cup and Champions League. So why is he still not happy? He's never the same player he was before.

Are you sure ? Last i heard he's on 175k per week, which is a lot higher than the 110k he was getting with us. I wonder if he's going to start tonight against Juventus.

you gotta be kidding... no chance he will take a pay cut to join chelsea... the only reason you, we, they know is the one and only, abramovich's dollar notes... chelsea didnt even have their name crafted on european trophy when he joined...

QUOTE
Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay is waiting at the club’s Cobham training ground for the arrival of Fernando Torres in order to complete a deal worth £80 million in transfer fee and wages.

Chelsea will pay £45 million cash with a large chunk up front, plus a basic salary of £200,000-a-week – plus bonuses – which will almost double Torres’ current £110,000-a-week deal at Liverpool.

A five-year contract with signing-on fee would be worth £35 million – bringing the overall investment to a staggering £80 million.

The biggest interested party this off season has been Juventus. Italian champions, rich traditition, CL football and capable of offering big wages. Llorente was said to be very interested as well only for Bilbao to deter Juve's advances by demanding huge transfer fees, no doubt Juve will come back and can definitely beat us to it.
