not really actually, I'm so pissed at the way I play, if I hear anything right now, i'm gonna stop playing guitar 4ever... last night I heard my previous "challenges", and they sounded surprisingly cool... I wonder how come I lost all the inspiration suddenly

hh7, check the booking, previous page
evocom > i don't care really... take your time, the dead line is about end of the week end. ebp > yeah it's a jam, but it's a way for me to practise on something solid, so i prefer to take my time and "analyse" my playing. It clearly sucks so far... |

hh7, you were on the list of the participants (9 participants), but you never told us which slot you wanted (6 slots). the rule was : 1st to ask, 1st to be served AND/OR copy-paste additional verses.
you were never removed from the list. |

yes, of course, he can take any slot he wants, and blacktrix will copy his slot somewhere in between the others. that's a solution that was proposed at the beginning.

HH7, ok, just do your solo and btrix will bake it for you
btrix ... yeah, the level can be something hard to set smoothly over the track. good luck |

high tension ?.. is it an electric guitar or an "electrified" guitar you're playing on ?
my wife strongly despised my current solo (and so did I to be frank), so i have to redo it |

ebp.. still working on the rock track.. BUT you can already find a metal backing track, and start the whole process for it.
I won't participate to the metal track, so you're on your own, guys... |

ok the solo is divided into 4 parts :
the intro : i just "preempt" the lick that ends the verses and repeat it with small variations. I had such a hard time trying to find what could start a solo when there is such a silent in the rythm. The solution was already in the song the tapping : it's not a legato but a taping done with the pick, and i topped it up with a thick phaser, so it hides the mistakes i did and gives a nice "surfin with the alien" touch. (yes, i'm being modest the solo : very satchy too, it's a descending pentatonic (the extremist), with a strong bend every two notes. Then it goes on a chromatic ascending thinggy. the pinched harmonic boing (few milliseconds..) : i added a lot of reverb and extreme phaser.. without effect, it sounds so so, but the effects make it sounds like the guitar is breathing, exhausted by the previous solo and taking a step back before running into the end solo. the end solo : a satch thinggy(how did you guess ??)... a repetitive lick (which you can hear that one all over his live G3), with strong "desperate" impact, the guitar is irritated and tired, she'll never manage to make it till the end. Then I keep going on typical "pixolydian" blues, and i end it with the intro lick (a bit in a hurry, it's pretty hard for me to fall right in time there...). the guitar is the JS plugged in the PodXT (the amp is the Treadplate with strong Classic Disto + light Sine Chorus + Reverb + -8dB Compressor + -50dB Noise Gate) |

check the preferences / settings of your recording software ? anyway, you can always move your solo so it can fit the beat...
in garage band, i know that happens if i set the "snap to beat" / "snap to grid" option : my solo track is moved so the software sees it as "fitting" the beat. But it doesn't work easily, so most of the time, the software moves it out of the tempo ! BTW, I didn't do any legato in my solo... what's wrong with you guys ? can't recognize tapping from legato ? PS: thx for the nice comments also, it's quite an honor from a player that totally amazes me This post has been edited by Pix: Mar 2 2006, 03:27 PM |

well, it's just perfectly natural for me, i guess i didn't even notice that i'm playing so smoothly
actually, try it by yourself: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------etc... etc...-------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------(15-17) x4--(13-15) x4------ --(13-15) x4--(15-18) x4---------------------------------------------------- it's a pentatonic run, simply repeat that lick up the scale... the higher note is tapped by the pick. the lower note is steady, simply pressed on by a finger, without moving.
