I also wanted to get xv but i am very concerned about sod  sad.gif  and the different type of display panel sony is using.

Think the SOD, sony says already solve during the last update. Personally i dont get SOD no more after Jb. For the diff type of panel it look like unlike the TX the different is not major. But all V has a darker screen than the rest of the xperia,

Not to mention, a waterproof phone with a removable battery. Now thats impressive!
Build quality is nice, the metal frame is awesome. Not to mention sony allowed OTA update. The camera is good even at night. Sound quality is really great.

Gonna miss my Vendetta so much, i never imagine its that good when i bought it. It keep on suprising me.

Might end up trading my V for disco funky SP today. Just need to top up 200 and i could get twice the battery life.

Hello, fellow forumers. A few questions I have on the Xperia V.

Since the Xperia V doesn't come w/ a built-in HDMI port, has anyone tried playing HD movies through a TV's USB port using the included USB data cable? I believe this's called an MHL connection? For TVs w/ only HDMI ports, are there USB-HDMI adapters for the Xperia V?

I know the screen's scratch resistant, but is it shatter resistant? Is it able to withstand drops from certain heights?

Where's the official Android OS update download link? I clicked the link on Sony M'sia's website & I got a "This page appears to be missing" msg.

Also, any recommendations for a protective case? No leather.

Thx. happy.gif

U cannot link it to tv with the included usb cable. U need a MHL adapter to link it to the HDMI cable which link it to tv HDMI port. Any MHL adapter will do with 50 bucks seems the cheapest.

Dont know if it shatter proof, but the screen is inside the frame which is more resistent than a lot of phone out there.

Untill now, all V update has been OTA.

Guys just want to ask

Why is it hard to select a line of text in this phone? And also sometimes its not possible to copy some text

Is this only occured in latest android or any other explanations on this. Thanks

I guess it's 4.1 and it stupid lense app. If u can't select by long pressing. Do double tapping

personally, i prefer long pressing than double tapping

Don't think so, as my fonepad with 4.1 also behave the same way.

Don't always double post ... okay?
Don't always ask about non-related model ... okay?
Don't always ....

What the heck, kid? Double standards. How come you can mention other models but when other people post, you said they've gone off-topic?! I've admitted my mistake (that V > ZR when it's SP > ZR > V), why don't you too?

Isn't this Xperia V thread. Shouldn't we be discussing the merits of this phone to you know, encourage people to buy this phone?

Of course V is not in the same league as the flagship Z1. We're comparing the mid-range.

SP: heavier, camera with less megapixels, larger screen hence lower PPI, not water and dust resistant. Slightly higher clocked CPU.
ZR : larger screen hence lower PPI.
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_zr-review-959p5.php

SP beats ZR in about half of the tests. * Oops my bad, SP's processor is not the same as V's.  Because SP's dual core Krait is clocked higher at 1.6 GHz. Not because dual core Krait 1.5 GHz (V) > quad core Krait 1.5 GHz (ZR). ZR is the true successor to V.
*
Just wanna share my experience.

Have use both V and SP. One phone strength are the other weakness. As it is a Sony and the price point is low. Everyone should not expect to get it all. Even flagship Sony don't get all feature.

. At 4.3 vs 4.6 the difference In PPI is unidentifiable. But V screen are better quality .floating touch is fun but sensor on the lense is annoying. don't seem like any major noticeable performance related despite the difference chipset. SP camera are slightly better on days but not even close to V in low light. V battery life is half of the SP.

Both are great devices no one can be wrong by choosing one over the other.
