QUOTE(kimhoong @ Sep 16 2012, 01:39 AM) OT, will this be a season that Liverpool have something to prove? They do not look good at all - reminding me about Arsenal when we were beaten badly in Old Trafford last season and everyone had ruled us out from competing for TOP4 Brendan Rogers is a good manager... Liverpool does have good players. They need time to gel and establish their new style, but would their owners be patient enough to allow change to happen? Another thing they need to sort out is also avoid overspending on underperforming players. At the moment, their loss is our gain. Some thoughts about last night's match: 1. Wojjjjjj WTFWTFWTF? Spilled a routine cross which led to a goal, but I'm more worried about his poor clearances which ended up at a So'ton player's feet most of the time. The jury is still out on Mannone, but if Woj doesn't start to concentrate he'll be dropped soon. Arsene's getting more and more ruthless now. 2. Coquelin has much to learn. He was decent, but did nothing to warrant a first team spot over Diaby or Ramsey. At the moment Diaby's likely going to retain his place while Jack is out, but Ramsey's performance yesterday is a reflection of someone who's raring to prove himself. And it was remarkable. 3. Ox is indeed exciting, but does he not remind us of an early-age Theo Walcott? Theo had more impact in a shorter time period by scoring the final goal to put us back in control when So'ton was slowly overwhelming us in the 2nd half. As for Theo, just shut up and look at Gervinho. This is a a guy who lost his touch after a disappointing ANC, yet he is now leading the front line in the position where Theo wanted so badly ! So message to Theo - sign an extension, shut up and work hard, and make the #14 shirt proud please. 4. Santi - 5. Gibbo, like our previous 2 LBs, is owning the left flank. I don't know how the academy does it, but it sure is intriguing to know how do they keep producing players of the same style and quality. Santos needs to sort himself out after getting into trouble with his speeding, and before that Gibbo's gonna be the undisputed first choice. 6. Bosscielny will find it hard to return to the first team despite being one of the our best performers last season. Vermy wouldn't be dropped as he's the skipper, PerPer just oozes calm and confidence. It's better to have a surplus of players rather than have to use makeshift midfielders or rely on inexperienced kids. 7. Ollie still has poor service despite getting himself into very good positions. Has yet to gel with the rest of the team, but he shouldn't be pressured to emulate Robin's achievement's last season. And if we are going to play a striker-less formation (OK, Gervinho didn't really play as a centre forward yesterday) we might see Ollie as a late sub more than a starter. I think he'll start against his old club in mid-week simply because he knows how to exploit them, and we'll see whether he can tuck away those throughballs from Santi and Poldi. 8. lulululukaspodolski... lulululukaspodolski... lulululukaspodolski... lulululukaspodolski !!!! It's about time a left-footed player scored a wicked freekick ! I never liked the #9 shirt, but right now I'm digging it. 9. I really like So'ton's away kit colours... because those should be ours too... Purple reign OMFG. This post has been edited by StarGhazzer: Sep 16 2012, 09:29 AM |

Defensively per n jenkinson played really good. Both improve from last season. Per alway simplify his game. Didnt hold ball too long. Always with easy play. Clear the ball. Jenkinson need to improve his crossing n his throw in. His throw hard to control bcos short n fast. Overall, our defensive department maybe improve bcos of the bould factor n his ipad. Hehe

The exchanges between Santi and Poldi were salivating stuff! and Poldi is quote a brute isn't he? Not one to be intimidated by bigger players around him, he's got some impressive strength and even Stoke rugby players will think twice before going in with him. Santi is unbelievable. How is he not in the first Spain first XI?! Every one of his passes is precise and with pace, and he almost always makes the right pass to the right person. What a player.
Gervinho as a false 9 worked brilliantly- he was so mobile in the first half that none of the Soton players knew what to do. Loved his mad dash for his first goal, and of course Arteta's lovely ball over the top. Good times. |

Although Arsenal may be high in the table as well as high in the general excellence of their display, we still don't truly know where they are as a team. The uncertainty is more to do with the opposition they have encountered rather than Arsenal themselves, who are coming along nicely. In the first two games, the fact they played two of the deepest-lying teams in the Premier League painted an unfair picture of their attack as well as a flattering one of their defence, with that only followed by a Liverpool side who have problems at both ends.
