GE Summit: PM announces one-stop centre for creative industry in Cyberjaya
BY TEH ENG HOCK 64 KUALA LUMPUR: A one-stop centre to support companies involved in creative multimedia, research and development, outsourcing and data management will be set up in Cyberjaya. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced the setting up of the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creative Centre (MaGIC) as part of the Government's latest effort to enhance entrepreneurship. "The centre will be a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs, with everything from getting financing from banks or venture capital to incubators for developing start-ups, from intellectual property registration to facilities for training, coaching and mentoring," he said. Malaysia will also be hosting the 5th Global Social Business Summit next month, he said at the launch of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) here Friday. Najib added that he was looking forward to receiving creative solutions from the Global Startup Youth programme, which is part of the GES. The programme pairs some 500 young people with 100 mentors to look into some of the world's most pressing problems, he said. Later, Najib launched the 1Malaysia Entrepreneurship programme (1Met), which will help to accelerate the growth of 5,000 young entrepreneurs annually. "Please dream. Please dream big. Be audacious. Dream of the improbable. "The future is exciting. The future is today. The future is right now," Najib told a cheering crowd of thousands of youths. During a question and answer session, Najib was asked if there would be a special allocation for the 1Met programme. "Yes, the answer is yes. I will announce it in the coming Budget 2014. I can announce it today, but that will be letting the cat out of the bag," he said. To another question, Najib agreed that holding a gathering of global entrepreneurs from time-to-time was a great idea to improve entrepreneurship in Malaysia. US Secretary of State John Kerry, who was with Najib at the 1Met launch, told the audience that the United States would provide a means for collaboration between America and entrepreneurs in South East Asia. He said there will be a partnership between the US and UP Global to train half a million entrepreneurs around the world, including those in Malaysia. He also announced Beehive Malaysia, a collaborative space for social entrepreneurs to find solutions to great problems. Earlier, Najib said entrepreneurs and potential businessmen should not be afraid or discouraged by failure, but instead use the experience to spur themselves to success. He said the Government continuously worked on providing a better environment for entrepreneurship, and hoped that entrepreneurs would re-calibrate their attitude to failure. "In a culture defined by a freewheeling and audacious capitalism, a country like the United States, which draws on a history of both liberty and plenty, a failed business gambit is seen as useful experience. Failure is not a death sentence. "Other countries have different traditions, but the principle of encouraging people to attempt the improbable, without the undue fear of failure, can be more widely adopted." In Malaysia, Najib said bankruptcy laws could be reviewed and streamlined to strengthen the safety net that allowed entrepreneurs to bounce back. QUOTE(twincharger07 @ Oct 12 2013, 02:57 PM) Bj also chinese school coming.. Cyber need a lot of ppl to fill in for all its supply.. cyber bcome mk? Well mk was single handed by sunrise during early days and had good foundation. Well planned and sunrise provides special services for its residence like patrolling n community activities..thus attracted foreigners to stay there.. cyber was single handed by setia haruman but later realise cyber hub is not going well as anticipated due to other global hub like india which is much cheaper.. setia haruman later decided to sell land plots to other developers.. what once planned as the leading cyber hub is not right now n cyber now pretty rojak with all developers selling their own products.. very little control on product mixture and developers only care about producing products that are sellable and profitable.. thus you see mostly are shoeboxes on commercial land.. lets see how cyberjaya gonna fill up all this supply.. |

QUOTE(McFD2R @ Oct 16 2013, 09:19 AM) There was an interview over BFM this morning with the MD (I Think) of Cyberview, the Govt owned landowner of Cyberjaya at 92% stake with the remaining 8% with PNB & etc. Although I knew Setia Haruman to be the Master Developer, I didn't know they weren't the land owner. Question is how long/soon? U vested in cbj?Additional info in case some are unaware. He shared his visions of how CBJ can emulate other successful Silicon Valleys and even mentioned that during his recent visit to California, the Silicon Valley kick started all the way back from the 1940s. And a lot of the industry players there were from different origins, not necessarily Americans, although now they probably are. He stresses on the need for CBJ to attract more professionals & engineers for a higher quality R&D Hub to be established in CBJ. From the brief interview which I heard for a mere 10-15 mins, I am glad someone is taking a hands on approach in taking CBJ further ahead. He noted 4 major stakeholders in CBJ - Cyberview being the land owner, Setia Haruman being the Master Developer, Majlis Pernbandaran Sepang being the Local Council and AMDEC (or something like that) as the body to attract foreign investors to set up their hubs in CBJ. |

QUOTE(DrPitchard @ Oct 16 2013, 09:45 PM) I think the density of both projects will be quite similar. GP has 1,149 units over a land area of 6.33 acres, which is 182 units/acre. Pangaea will have approximately 3,000 units over a land of 15.9 acres, thus, yielding a density of 189 units/acre. But GP has units that are specially catered for students, so might turn up to have higher density in terms of occupants than Pangaea. Bro u have good writing skill well abv most forumers...u can help write in propcafe...lolLooking forward to stay in Cyberjaya too once the project is completed. Nice, well planned township. Just hope the MEX toll charges don't increase or the highway gets congested, beats the purpose of living in Cyberjaya then. Pangaea is iconic and i like it. Should not compare with GR as those are student accomodation alike. |

New cinema for USJ By Naseem Randhawa The lobby of Premium-X Cinemas, Sky Park, One City which will utilise a kiosk system. 12 Sep – New cinema chain Premium-X Cinemas will unveil the nation's first ever fully kiosk operated cinema when it opens its doors at its first location this October at One City, USJ Subang Jaya. The 12 screen Premium-X Cinema located on the second floor of the new claimed to be eco-friendly Sky Park mall at One City, will introduce a kiosk operated ticketing system thus eliminating the current ticketing counter system usually manned by cinema staff. The 12 screen Premium-X Cinemas is located at Sky Park, One City. The logo for new cinema chain, Premium-X Cinemas. Similar to the operations of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM), this new purchasing system will allow moviegoers to select their movies, showtimes, seats, as well their concession items via its touch screen menu. With the QR (Quick Response) Code receipt generated by the kiosk, moviegoers can then collect their snacks from the concession counters which will be prepared by the concession staff. Moviegoers are to scan their QR Code receipt at the turnstile hall entrance, which will then make way for entry towards their respective movie halls. Premium-X Cinema, Sky Park mall will feature 12 standard 2D and 3D screens and is targeted to open by end of October 2013. The ticketing kiosks at the cinema. There are 12 fully digital screens. Developed by MCT Consortium Berhad, two more kiosk operated Premium-X Cinemas are targeted to open within the next 2 years. They will be located at the Sky Park Mall, Cyberjaya by end of 2014 and the MCT Mall, at One City by end 2015. Related Links: TGV Cinemas new TGV LOL |
