Lumia 920 will be my first Windows Phone after 5 years with iOS. It's supposedly coming out on November 15th in the Middle East. It should be factory unlocked but am wondering if WP8 has the same stupid limitation for Middle East market like iOS (FaceTime in iOS does not work on Middle East iPhone etc.)

AT&T is selling the 920 for USD450 off contract and USD99 with a 2 year contract. Maybe I'll have my brother buy it off contract for me. USD450 off contract is damn cheap.

How do you know cheap when it's not even announce in malaysia? We never know might have promotion like free monster headset? When lumia 90p they free a monster headset worth rm720 with extra charger battery pack worth rm200
*
I never said anything about prices in Malaysia. I said, AT&T is offering it off-contract for USD450 (which is around RM1400) in the USA. I have a brother in the states so if I get it there, it's damn cheap. Monster headphones are expensive and have you seen other phones (iPhone etc etc) that comes with the over ear headphone standard? If you want to comapre prices, compare the unit only laaa.

You also not comparing anything u comparing wind.its up to you is your money but I am just sharing with everyone wait till the official product announce in malaysia only decide you might get a better deal. Further more this units are call waterset it will carry lower value than ap in future and lastly oversea set we usually consider as no warranty in malaysia.

If you are rich please proceed but  I am here to share I got the monster headset wh930 for free at launch and it worth. We never know what nokia might package with this time but the upcoming headset is by JBL and wireless with nfc
*
Then why did you ask me the question "How do you know it's cheap?". read my post first la before posting your reply. As I said in my original unedited post, I only mention that in the US, AT&T is selling it for USD450 off-contract and I may get it there since I have a brother there. There is nothing in that statement that says I am comparing it to the kind of prices it might be in Malaysia. heck I don't know what it's going to be in Malaysia.

Thank you for sharing with us your experience in getting whatever headsets that you managed to get. I hope the users here will get the same deal as you.

That is pathetic aspire2oo6. This is the bloody internet age la dude. Now you are saying because LYN is Malaysia based, we shouldn't talk about prices in other countries? Seriously? That is your counter-argument?

I didn't know that mentioning prices from another country is so wrong in this forum. Yikes.

Very well, I'll shut-up and let you troll. Enjoy!

There's conflicting report about off-contract AT&T being able to be unlocked by AT&T or not. Some say can be unlocked if you call the customer service while some say cannot until the exclusive deal expired (6 months). I'll see if I can get my brother to get some confirmation with the AT&T rep.

Some even say that even off-contract you still need to subscribe to a plan which is weird.

Added on November 10, 2012, 9:44 pmHTC 8x is being sold for SAR1999 here in Saudi and the Lumia is supposed to be launched on Nov 12th. Let's see how much the phone is over here.

Yikes that is pricey. It's launching in the middle east tomorrow and some of the sites mentioned that it will be sold factory unlocked (you cannot sell locked sets in the middle east) for DH2349 or USD639 or around RM1950 . It's higher than AT&T Off-contract prices but it's about the same price as a 16GB iPhone 5.

I can Pre-Order the Lumia 920 from one of the cell provider now (in the middle east) ... I wonder when it will come out. I hate doing this pre-order stuff though ..... hate having to go to the place twice just to get my hands on it. Once it's officially launched I'll let you guys know.

Nokia launched the 920 in the Middle East yesterday. Prices are higher than expected at AED2499 (RM2090 or USD680) which is in between the price of the iPhone 5 16GB and 32GB factory unlocked.

Units will be available starting November 25th. Not sure if I want to get it here but since Nokia warranty is local, might as well get it here just in case anything were to happen.

As for Whatsapp, I'm a newbie in terms of Windows Phone (iOS user here), I though WP8 is backward compatible with WP7 apps?

The prices in Saudi Arabia is slightly cheaper than Dubai, it will be SAR2499 for the 920 and 1899 for the 820. That's USD666 for a Factory Unlocked Lumia 920 which is cheap for me (I bought the iPhone 4s for SAR3699 when it was launched).

Can't wait for the 25th when they start selling it everywhere in Saudi.

I think the Grey is the onle matte color, all other colors are glossy. I had an N8 before with the Orange color smile.gif

My absolutely hated the color and has told me to get a better color if I'm buying a Nokia this time around. So it'll be either the White or the Black color for me ... maybe I'll get the yellow and drive her crazy heh heh heh heh.

I did not in anyway mention that Skype would be WP8's holy grail. All I said was, the app is marked as Preview for a reason. It's just not ready, so use at your own risk, for now. I made it clear very clear near the end. I reserve my judgement til it's official and review is out. No point we diss it when it isn't even final build nor is it being reviewed officially. That's is very unfair to the product and company.

As for your bad experiences, I don't know where the "tech guy" thing comes in, but the last I checked, the world is full of choices. You're free to choose anything you want as long as it fits you / your style / your taste. I wasn't in any way forcing you to come back to try it on WP8, just don't degrade it when it's not even official, the message is as simple as that.

Also, just to be clear, I wasn't exactly defending it just because it's a Microsoft product. If it sucks, it sucks, it's that simple. I just happen to like being able to access all of Microsoft's services on our gadgets, hence my choice of platform.

Oh and just to share my experience, in China, Skype is still one of the main tools / platforms they use to deal with international businesses and I happen to have dealt with many in the past few weeks.

Joonchai, no point arguing with aspire2oo6. He's an android and Note 2 troll. Anything you say or did not say will be twisted by him as well. I'm looki g for the ignore button in this forum but could not find it yet.

Just paid for my pre-order for a Yellow 920. Got to play with it at the Nokia store. Feels really nice and I have no complaints about the weight. Can't wait to et my hands on it next week or latest, 10 days from now. I saw that they have Whatsapp installed in the phone as well.

you preordered it from where?

I'm in the middle east smile.gif , not in Malaysia. So pre-ordered it today when I went to the Mall and saw the Nokia store. They had the Yellow 920 to play with and I have to say the build is awesome.

no complains about the weight? Its the biggest gripe about this phone for now actually. So much so that i am considering the 8X. But then the Nokia exclusive apps are pulling me back to 920.
*
I've been using the iPhone 4s and it's 145 grams naked. The Lumia 920 is 185 grams so that's an extra 40g. I don't usually carry the 4s naked and I usually have it with the Battery Pack Morphie Juice Air which not only makes the iPhone 4s bulky, it also adds probably another 80-100 grams to the weight so having the 920 in my hand naked seems okay to me. It does feel a bit huge as compared to the 4s and I'm sure I will love the size.

The new iPhone 5 is 113 grams and you can actually feel that it's light BUT almost everyone will have their iPhone 5 with a casing which will add another 30-40 grams to it so I don't see any reason to complain about the added weight for the 920.

A bit disappointed that it doesn't come with the charging plate though. I mean, it's SAR2499 (RM2050) and not getting a charging plate (they say it will cost and extra 150-200) is disappointing.

i guess the free charging plate promo doesnt including middle east

Well there is always hope that those who pre-orders will get some freebies from the local Nokia stores. The offer in the UK also came after the launch dates and pre-orders were made. Anyway, that is fine. I'm planning to buy 2 charging plate. One for home and one for the office. Maybe I'll order the Fatboy pillow brows.gif

Next is to see when the JBL speakers are coming out.

I've been reading in wpcentral and they have some discussions about the Charging Stand. I'm wondering how it looks like. Does it charge wirelessly as well?

Added on November 15, 2012, 6:55 pmJust saw the Charging stand .... Ohh man they look sweet. Will definitely buy one for the office.

I'm checking the prices the accessories and they are quite pricey in the UK. The charging plate is going for GBP59, the Charging stand is going for GBP69 and the JBL speakers for GBP144 ... yikes.

I'm planning to get the plate for the house and the stand for the office and the speakers for the house .... so the damage is going to be significant ... damn. RM350 for the stand is ridiculous though .... I can understand the JBL speakers being RM700++ but charging plate and stand north of 300 is absurd.
