LG IPS224T vs Dell U2312HM. Is it worth adding around rm 170 to get U2312HM + 5 years warranty? LG IPS224T got how many years warranty? got 1 to 1 exchange if got any problems?
*
This is where the differences is, Dell get 1-on-1 exchange, if LG you have to return to manufacturer, wait about sometimes a week if unlucky up to a month or more.
Choose Dell for its warranty otherwise just take the LG if you just want value for money. "Can use can liao" sweat.gif

hey guys any opinion on this monitor? worth it? not?

http://www.groupon.my/deals/national-deal/...ckard/716575833
*
MVA panel, has good black depth but response time is even worst than the worst of IPS so IMO it's not worth it.
And also the big chunk of plastic panel beneath it is waste of space IMO, not so standard stands, looks very flimsy and might just break if pushed a little harder.
If you just needs the screen and can sacrifice everything else then you may get it, but I wonder how you go for the warranty later. hmm.gif

can LCD TV connected to a computer monitor?

i wanna have something like double monitor. was thinking since i got extra unused LCD TV.
*
No problem at all, just hook up the TV to unused output port will do, Windows 7+ should be able to detect the TV automatically, if it's not then use the included driver software to force an output to the TV.

but can the monitor still run its native 1200 with a notebook with 1080 resolution? thinking of using it as secondary monitor  hmm.gif
*
There's no issue. The only drawback is you have to use Extend or Projector Only mode, that way you can maximize the monitor 1200p resolution.

i wonder why benq gw2450 is not that popular
its 24", matte, va display, deep blacks, great contrast better than ips and only 580 from lowyat seller.
*
I think you need to study more to get to know about VA and IPS.
VA has only 1 advantage, deeper black and that's it, high-end IPS beat that hands down with even better colour reproduction, and contrast ratio, are you base this on the specifications or review?

No clue what those mean. Yes I am that clueless  sweat.gif

update. Did some research (google google google) on the topic. I'll be primarily playing late at night so would glossy be okay? Also what does lowyat (I know not a hivemind) suggest?
*
Best is to use matte screen as you might turn on your desk lamp and the light reflection will be very visible, like looking at yourself in the mirror when there's dark screen.
If you're looking at monitor at complete darkness then it shouldn't be a problem but it's of course not recommended for long term for your eye's health.

Hi All Sifus,

Have some questions hope any1 can clear my doubt, as I wish to purchase a new monitor now, budget RM 500 or slightly more.

1) Does monitor comes with audio jack only serve purpose for headphones only, as in not suitable to microphone?

2) Some monitor come with USB port, does these USB port serve as charging purpose only or can it work like normal USB port like it can detect pendrive for copy paste purpose?

I believe that monitor comes with USB port the price is pretty high, while comes with audio jack seems ok like the LG IPS234V.
Would appreciate anyone can advise on this.
*
1) There're only few that actually come with audio jack and depends on models, it could input and/or output, some HDMI capable monitor enable output as analogue audio so you can plug into bigger speaker set or soundbar (just under the monitor). For microphone input of which I haven seen any monitor which does that.

2) Those USB port on the monitor also serve as an USB powered hub so you can use it to charge your phone or connect to any USB equipment, i.e. keyboard/mouse, pendrive, printer, etc. as long as its uplink USB is connect back to your main rig (USB port behind the PC; mainboard).

Also monitor that come with USB port is not as expensive as you think it's, Dell U2312HM is slightly higher than RM500? This one I think need to call Dell or find out at Garage Sales.

that means 3d monitor right now is not "true" 3d??
*
There's nothing that 2D can display 3D, it's just a color trick that tricks your eye sense to think that you're seeing 3D.

Unless it's hologram, 2D will still be 2D.

Looking good from the specs, but unsure the actual performance until it's being reviewed.
And it's LED backlighted, RGB-LED? hmm.gif

if you're from sarawak, you can always order from niclasteoh

premium panel = better panel smile.gif meaning the color is richer and more accurate with a lot of customization options available.

dont go for the S-series. it is extremely glossy up to the point of being an annoyance.
*
Oh... I didn't know he provide such service, is it the same as ordering from Dell? Or does he order and you need to pick up at his shop? hmm.gif

According to the link provided here (official by Dell representative)
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forum...t/19263699.aspx

You can contact Dell directly to acquire their help or just register your monitor with them for future warranty support.

lulz. how come u2311h price drop till so low dy....will put on GS, hope can get 350min. tongue.gif
*
I think only 30" has 1600p (2560x1600; 16:10) right? 27" is 1440p (2560x1440; 16:9), unless there's 27" model with 1600p that I do not know of hmm.gif
Anyway for a used monitor, especially the CCFL will age fast so the value is not so good, and as you said it's already 2-year-old. Newer model can be fetch for RM580+ with 5-year warranty.

i mean wont be going for 1600p. will gun for 27" due to the cost of 30" dell is juz far from my pocket sweat.gif
i was wondering that why my samsung 2030sw can still go for like around rm180 (which is juz +-rm100 loss) comparing to my u2311h depreciate value. might as you said smile.gif

waiting for takers then proceed to get another monitor. 4k monitor is juz way too extreme for mainstream atm.
*
Ah.. ok, "won't be" haha... doh.gif
You just sold your 2030SW for RM180? erm... hmm.gif oh well, you can try your luck, if someone desperate enough to get that monitor and no other seller at that price then your luck is there.

4K tech is still young and still needs other source to keep up with it, mainly the HDMI input tech, HDMI 2.0? (is there DP 2.0?)
Even the Full HD can take quite a toll on hard disk space, especially those archiving BD doh.gif 4K will be 4x as much shakehead.gif

my monitor u2412m it have hdcp
can i use dvi cable to support full hd 1080
instead of hdcp or hdmi cable?
*
HDCP is one of the feature that enable digital encryption support.
You can use either DVI or HDMI to play Full HD movie, either way is the same.

Have a look at this: http://tv.about.com/od/hdtv/a/hdmidvihdcp.htm to understand more about HDCP

hi,

I noticed not many discussion on 27" monitor...is there any drawback on having 27" monitor? eg. size too big and not as sharp as 24" or 23"...

i'm considering 27" but when I read recent posts...mostly not related to 27" ...

any good recommendation for 27" monitor btw...
thanks!
*
Depends on your needs, there's 27" 1080p and 1440p.

1080p is just the normal screen with enlarged pixels so you can sit further, same as 23", just bigger screen, that's all.

1440p on the other hand only IPS panel currently and they're on the mid-high-end side where you'll find the price is at the mid-high side (obviously). This type of panel only for enthusiast market for where people seeking for colour accuracy, the earlier model has input lag issue so it's not that good for FPS gamer, I'm not sure about the recent models (Dell mostly sweat.gif ), but you may Google their model number follow by "tftcentral" to find a good review on the particular model.

Good luck hunting. wink.gif

I have bought Dell u2412M, but changed for 4 times due to backlight bleeding.

Dell sent another replacement with higher spec (Dell U2413M), but still got backlight bleeding. So, I just let it go and use it anyway. ^^

The color output is absolute heaven.
*
Mind share how serious is your back-light bleed?
Just use a camera to take the screen at dark black, it should shows the edge bleed.

throw in Display Port 1.2 or HDMI 1.4 brows.gif

i always wanted to try the former but RM40 for one cable, and i have like 2 DVI atm

dunno worth it to change
*
Are you trying to do DVI to DP? hmm.gif
DVI to HDMI is confirmed no problem.
It seems the market is trying to cater for laptop output instead of enthusiast graphics. doh.gif

Mini DP? That's even rare only on workstation level laptop, consumer laptop mostly only has VGA and/or HDMI. unsure.gif
Anyway DVI isn't going any where soon, DP and HDMI both are growing strong by the day (looking at the revision), and probably will replace VGA and DVI in the far future. hmm.gif
