Wan/syed/sayid/tuanku is Nabi Muhammad's bloodline...
For example, my fren is from al-idrus line, if u know their family tree u will understand..

sebaik baik prefix nama ada muhammad, abdul , ahmad etc . kenapa perlu guna hereditary title ? muhammad itu nama yang lebih hebat dari apa apa gelaran lain.

Speaking from my experience, among Syed/Sharifah friends that I know kind of proud of the titles. Some of them look down than other 'ordinary' muslims. Worst is their moms. Dads are still ok.

Kinda beat the purpose of having prophet's bloodline.
