they should define what is gelaran keturunan and how it's spelled. coz i know a number of variations on some of these title names that it confuses the hell outta me. for example:

the difference between: tengku, tunku, teuku, ku

or: said, syed, sayid, sayed

etc...

syed title is arabic (spelling varies). when the arab muslim traders came to melaka in 15th century, they married locals, hence their children and grand children carries the heriditary title.

my ex-classmate is one of the younger son of syed kadir (owner/founder of syed chain of restaurants), but somehow he didnt carry the syed name. but his two older brothers does.

he also dunno why.

Orang cakap, keturunan syed asal dari rasullullah.

Tapi takde sapa pun cakap tengku, raja and all that pun keturunan rasullullah. Itu heriditary titles kat msia aje. Syed is international.

Actually, it does.

Having tengku or raja means get out of jail free, easier to get projects and so on.
