Introducing the Paragon System

The new Paragon system coming in patch 1.0.4 is designed to address Magic Find gear-swapping while providing players who’ve reached level 60 with an extended progression system.

Here’s how it works:

After you hit level 60, any further experience you earn from killing monsters will begin to count toward Paragon levels
There are 100 Paragon levels
Every Paragon level will reward you with:

Core stats such as Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality in amounts similar to what you’d gain from a normal level
3% Magic Find and 3% Gold Find


In addition, a distinctive increasingly-impressive border will surround your character portrait in the in-game party frame to denote your Paragon progression, with a new frame earned after every ten levels. Your Paragon level will also be visible to other players wherever your normal level is shown

So this is the endgame that they came out with to keep the players playing lol

alot people say MF gears are dropping price prior to this news. i dont see how that's an issue. MF gears are still necessary but less dependant as you grow in Paragon level.

Err... it also gives you the increase of core stats like STR, Dex and INT.

Blizzard has virtually given players LVL160.
You have every reason to kill Inferno monsters now.

Botters are even happier with this change

This is truly a great addition for ppl like me who dislike mf items and do full act runs.( I cant stand doing short repetitive runs)
From the looks of it, the update will come this thursday.

there's a 300% mf/gf cap with this system, which the ts didn't point out. so when you're lvl 100 (paragon) ur mf will be 300% hence don't need gear swapping anymore

u need to hunt around 6,534,000 Inferno Hulking Phase Beasts to reach lv100

tat quite impossible, i play 500+ hours only got 340k mob kill.. somemore not all lv63 mobs

so dun care so much about reaching lv100

when you max 100 paragon, you dont need a single piece of MF gear. they cap MF to 300%, paragon 100 gives you that, lol.

im sorry but level 99 grind was long available since d2. d3 is just giving people that grind (since everyone b****ed about it)

nothing new, and definitely not something from rift. hell, WoW had their level cap raised every expansion. not new either.

Those inflations are artificial most probably caused by hoarders.
Will stable in no time at all especially since more ppl will come back to play D3 after 1.04 this thursday.

finally, now I can reduce my WD's mf and focus on AR, Int and Vit.

from lv 61 to 160 is like D2 lv 1-99

at least.... there is a reason to continue my lv 60 on inferno, and kill every single mob on the field

Tried the adventuring life, didn't really care for it, too much pain, now I got new reasons to fight for, at least there're reasonable profits.

by the time you reach lev 80-90 or above, you should able to kill most mobs in single hit, can upgrade a level within few hours.

include Nephalem Valor with +15% Bonus Experience per stack?

Another product gimmicks from Blizzard, to make D3 last longer. Who cares? Play again and again and again with the same map / quest, just want to achieve so called "Paragon" I think Blizzard better make D3 expansion...with the new map, new quest, unlock to level 99...

No, just get rid of their abysmal writing, as it is not even fun to play through the rubbish storyline for more than a dozen of times.

The new system still doesn't address why we need to grind 100 levels for anyways.

Reason why the D2 grind was addictive was because we needed to reach higher levels in order to equip high level items and to get more stat and skill points to further customize our characters. We won't get new items that scale with the new paragon levels nor additional skill points to further customize our characters. We will only be getting more and more ilvl63 items which we probably won't need. Just more stats and MF seems a fairly dull grind to me.

Dont left out the fact that paragon levels arent just mf+gf, but also +base stats.
But I guess the ones who benefit the most are the botters.

I dont know, man, part of me felt happy because Blizzard decided to add something to the game that sort of gave me a reason to play, which is to grind for better MF. However, the other part of me, which is the same as what you think, i think it is gonna be quite a dull grind.

Dont know whats up with Blizzard recently, but i think, Paragon Levels, better legendary and much better tuned Inferno mode arent the solution to the problem, as the main problem in D3 still lies in the lack of content. It feels some of the recent changes should be in the game on the release day, especially the incredibly underpowered legendary items or the annoying difficulty tuning on Inferno. It is okay for a game to be difficult, as we can see in games like Dark Souls, but using cheap tricks, like those elites, wont make the game fun to play.

Playing the same awfully written storyline wont make the game any better. That why i would want to see an open world mode with all the way points activated and the story content removed. Just let me play the game, without forcing me to listen to the same boring lines or see that terribly made cutscene for the 20th or so time. Especially the awful scene that Magda killed Cain.

just skip the scene with one key press, no need to whine about it

Inferno is not dat hard.. my monk can slash mobs/elite in act 3 and 4 like tofu.. lol haters gonna hate this comment.. but it is the truth yo..

Nah, Jay Wilson wont be a good lead for SC2 because he tends to change things out a lot. And SC2 fans will be complaining that SC2 is a Dawn of War clone or some crap.

I just think Blizzard has set the bar themselves too high, where it is very difficult and expensive to top it.

You know what, i dont get you neither, sure, pressing a key will skip the awful cutscene, then, what about the nonsense that Leah or other character say? There is no way to remove that, unless mute the whole game entirely. Listening to the same UNCLE DECKARD crap for the 12th time is not even fun at all. An average story will eventually be an annoying story at the end, due to repetition.

Thats why i want an open world mode with no story element at all.

It's just opinions after all, you dont have to get so butthurt over it. If pressing a button to skip the cutscene is fine, then, good for you.

Dont understand the reason behind this Paragon thing. Why cant they increase the level cap OR take the cap thing away FFS. I dont understand the logic behind this. Can someone explain?

game was only designed with 60 in mind. with additional actual levels, you need to redesign loot, redesign monsters (resistance, damage dealing/taking etc) and that's probably the tip of the iceberg.

It lets future expansion pack increase the level cap, while still giving players some feeling of reward/progression when grinding out Inferno.

Btw this is consider positive improvement for d3.. i mean it is huge improvement.. cant wait for the patch.. will grind all the way to paragon 100.. for those haters, just quit the game.. end of story.. dun waste ur effort to cry here..

this patch might just make me go back play it. but GW2 this weekend. so... see how lah.

expansion: increased level cap to 80! now with new hexagon level from 1 to 100!

if not mistaken every level up will add 3 main stat, 2 vit and 1 for the rest, 100 level of paragon will get you only +300 main stat, +200 vit (7000 hit points) and + 100 for others, it is not that much by the way.

I like the patch. It's a placebo effect that makes me keep playing and still think that i'm not wasting my time.

4 lvl 60s to play around with updated skills and see how i can withstand in leveling to Plvl 100. Can always fall back to GW2/TL2/BLand 2 if i get bored.

Seriously don't see why all the hate. Tho 300% mf ppl gets a lil bit pricked but hey.. swap it out for more pew pew.

Dont wear any MF gear. I always believed in killing Elite fast rather than using any MF gear. At least, it's more fun.
