vankodoq is a foreigner working in MY, hence why some Banks (like Maybank) want him to maintain Banking Account. Foreigners, esp those on Contract are considered to be a Flight Risk, esp from certain Countries. vankodoq, best you call the Help Line to ask at 03-5516 9988

For first timer, is not good (i.e. unwise) to apply for the "better" credit card instantly (e.g. Visa Signature)? By first timer I mean that I haven't had any credit card before. Though this will be my first card, I believe my annual income passes the requirement, and it's not by a thread. It's just I'm a foreigner working as an Engineer in Malaysia. hmm.gif

just a quick question, many banks offer first year 'so called waiver' of the Service Tax if u swipe within x-days after activation. Does the Alliance Platinum have this feature.

Also, just got my first Statement, no Cash Back. Called CS and said that it will only be reflected in the next month statement. Hmm, always have to refer back to previous month Statement to make sure its correct.

damn ... the website state 500 points for every 10k loan, thats damn huge difference compared what the SA to me RM1 loan = 1 point  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

RM1 = I point is for CC Spending.

If RM 1 loan = RM1 point, it would be very gooding, imagine taking RM500K housing Loan = 500,000 points. But that's too good to be true.

Just checked the Alliance Redemption Points and think they have revised it downwards.

As comparison - Alliance, u need 43,900 Reward Points to exchange for RM100 Md Donald's Cash Voucher or equal to 0.227% Cash Back. That's so low.

AEON Credit is only requires 14,700 Points to change to RM50 Cash Voucher from Mc Donalds or equal to 0.340% Cash Back.

I remember when I applied for the Card and I checked the Cash Vouchers, the exchange ratio was closer to 0.3+%

Anyone here remember what was the cash value of Alliance reward points equal to. Perhaps sifu Gen-X can remember.

I am quite sure it was higher than 0.23%. Perhaps time to use another Card again and revisitt Gen-X Blog again.

Bro, Alliance Bank inflated the point required to redeem for vouchers sometime back in May - click here to my Facebook posting.

For previous comparison of points back in October 2013, click here to my article Visa Infinite - UOB versus Maybank versus Alliance Bank

Nowadays I hardy use my Alliance Visa Infinite because it will be stupid of me to use it. My Maybank VI rewards me about 100% more compared to my Alliance VI! Luckily my Alliance VI is Free For Life.

Thanks for the update Sifu. yes, just saw your post, previously was 12,150 points for RM50 Voucher. Now its double.

Really fell cheated cos I have been using my Alliance Card cos the RP and the pure CB was higher than my OCBC 1% unlimited.

Will keep this card just for the Priority Pass.
