QUOTE(nicholaswen @ Apr 30 2013, 11:40 PM) ya i heard about that... is it good??? currently i using intel 520 ssd ... so far i wanna find 1 more for my laptop.. So far the review about it is good and reliable. Not sure local shops carry this brand or not, mostly I found are only kingston, intel, corsair f3, ocz, and sandisk if not mistaken.

If price is similar to online store/forum sellers then it will be nice . If price expensive like RM30 or more I might just grab from forum seller for saving some money .

Anyone tried out SSHD? It seems offering a very good price over performance with more capacity. Not sure if its a right place to bring out this discussion since its both SSD and HDD.

QUOTE(Yagami5159 @ May 13 2013, 05:44 PM) You mean the hybrid drive? it's available on the market already? Yup Hybrid Drive QUOTE(cstkl1 @ May 13 2013, 05:55 PM) Hmm but with z68 and above u can use the intel ssd cache tech. So just buy a smaller ssd and a larger hdd and it will do a hybrid like solution with ahci. The cost of getting small ssd + hdd will be cheaper solution indeed when the capacity of HDD goes bigger. However, it requires 2 sata connections. I'm planning to get the 2.5" version for my sister new laptop. Some youtube testing and comparisons, not sure it is reliable source or not. It shows SSHD just 3sec behind SSD for boot up. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

QUOTE(wengjoe @ May 13 2013, 09:28 PM) is there any differences between intel SSD 335 series and intel SSD 520 series ? i'm looking something above 240G and it seem like this 2 series fit the bill. so far the highest capacity is 480G by intel 520, any bigger capacity from intel ? Intel 335 - 3 years warranty - cheaper Intel 520 - 5 years warranty - expensive - better performance [but not so noticeable in real life] Any more than 480gb or 512gb will probably be revodrive.

QUOTE(JML @ May 19 2013, 06:15 PM) i just got a new DELL ladtop and i just replaced the HDD with a new Plextor M5S 128GB SSD and did a fresh install of Win 8 on it. I seperate the SSD into 2 partitions of ~ 60GB each. after installing Win8, OS C Drive is ok. but i have missing D Drive now. what should i do? You can try allocate it by following this steps: Right Click Computer > Manage > Storage > Disk management You will see the list of Partition that are available, the other 60gb that not allocated. Right click it to allocate the capacity u want.

QUOTE(JML @ May 19 2013, 07:03 PM) Thanks a bunch! problem solved. wonder why when installing Windows 8 didn't help me to format it and assign drive letter to it automatically :S thanks! Maybe at the time u divide the partition u forgot to format the other half one before installing win8. Anyway, good to see the problem solved.

QUOTE(CheaTeRz @ May 20 2013, 07:57 PM) hey guys, intel 330 60gb owner here. got question, how fast your boot time? coz mine is around 20 sec and i think its quite slow, before this is only around 10sec only. any idea what might cause this and how do i fix it? My boot time around 30~35sec from the moment of power button pressed until I see everything loaded. 20sec is still very fast imo. Probably the SSD capacity used more than 50% will slow down. Mine has used up 63.9gb/111gb and I noticed a slightly slower boot speed like 2~3 sec, same to my other apps/games.

QUOTE(azilazwa @ May 27 2013, 07:05 PM) Hi guys, Is there such a sata3 cable? or it is just same as sata2 cable? i have read some on the web, but still couldnt get a conclusion. i am using kingspec ssd (challenger c300-120). my mobo is giga 890gpa. before this i connect my ssd using the L-shape sata2 cable (the L-shape cable comes with the mobo). then i test the window experience index, i got 6.8 for my ssd. then i changed the cable with a new (un-used sata cable that also comes with the mobo), this cable is a straight one, then i test the window experience index again. this time i got 7.4! so, is the straight sata cable is sata3 cable? The sata cable should have label with the transfer rate of either 3gb/s, 6gb/s or 3gb/s|6gb/s. Even the cable is only 3gb/s speed, the performance won't drop that much. However the best is still use 6gb/s cable. In general, sata2 = 3gb/s sata3 = 6gb/s This post has been edited by hmwgbworld: May 27 2013, 07:31 PM

QUOTE(azilazwa @ May 27 2013, 09:43 PM) Sadly, there is no label on my sata cable. That is why it is confusing me. In the mobo guide book, it only state which port on the mobo is sata2 or sata3. Luckily i test it with a new cable. Btw, 7.4 is quite good rite? Is there any other way i can increase the rating to the max, without setting it with raid (because i dont know how to to do it lol)? Most probably 3gb/s cable i think, since no label. 7.4 not bad, at least u can feel the significant difference from HDD. Mine just 7.9. Some improvements u may refer to the first post about how to optimize the ssd guide. Not sure if it works the same as amd platform. I dont feel much improvement from the guide, but it helps to solve my ssd freeze problem somehow. This post has been edited by hmwgbworld: May 27 2013, 10:18 PM

QUOTE(Yagami5159 @ May 28 2013, 11:13 PM) How long had the Force GS serve you? Mine also 7.9 as well... Odd, it should be 7.9 for most the people who use SSD, probably something is bottleneck the SSD? something that may bottleneck ssd are either sata port/cable. even so, the speed wont be affected very much in real life. score doesnt matter as long as it is showing significant improvement from regular hdd. I would really appreciate it if you guys could spare just 5min of your time to fill up a short questionnaire. The link is as per below: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19dsY8hpbUN...cVsuiM/viewform or SSD Questionnaire LinkThanks a lot in advance! Viper What type of questions?

QUOTE(milky @ Jun 14 2013, 11:27 PM) actually why plextor & intel520 price diff so much? Warranty period, performance, etc. Intel 520 series with 5 years warranty often shows significant higher price. Compare with other brands with 5 years warranty actually much and more the same.
