Never experienced TXAA first hand, since none of my games support it. One of the main reasons I'm excited about AC3...

QUOTE(rc2x @ Nov 20 2012, 10:02 PM) There have been reports of PhysX disabled with these drivers... I installed it but didn't really test it out on PhysX games. Anyone using these drivers do check on PhysX. Anyway, notice how the driver size is ballooning past 200Mb! At this rate, in the future, it would be xGb. |

New drivers... anticipation for Far Cry 3.
http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/...rivers-released Is this a bit of a trend... new games... new drivers. I mean I'm not complaining, just saying... |

Played "Far Cry 3" for several hours, maxed out, HBAO, 8x MSAA, 1920x1080... still smooth for most part!

I heard the new WHQL 310.70 - they somehow didn't sign it? Which means it installs as if non-WHQL?
I'm hoping these new drivers will improve performance on FC3 and AC3 (as stated in notes). |

QUOTE(arslow @ Dec 6 2012, 12:44 AM) Whql candidate. Should be basically the final driver, but maybe they are just releasing this so that ppl in forums such as guru3d can test it and see whether there are any major issues, and if not, they can just release a whql next week or something. Hmm... they have since removed all references of WHQL to this driver. Must have been a mistake. It is still Beta. |

GeForce Experience Beta is now open...
http://www.geforce.com/drivers/geforce-experience Anyways, installed the latest 310.70 Beta drivers and played FC3 a bit -- I found it to be smoother. I still have a visual anomaly with the grass glowing/strange outlined look in certain areas (sometimes after a dead body falls on it, after a fire has occured, etc.). |

QUOTE(yinchet @ Dec 8 2012, 07:32 PM) Reception has been quite negative. If you watch the video, you will facepalm. Before there is NO PhysX, but after GeForce Experience, PhysX is turned on? I think this is for those new to computers (and computer games) that find graphical terminologies difficult to understand. Or for those who just don't have the time to experiment with different settings. Right now only a few games are available to be used under GeForce Experience. Great idea, but I really don't see hardcore gamers even thinking of using it. QUOTE(Jet23sky @ Dec 10 2012, 12:15 AM) It seems like these latest game are making difficulties to those newly card. The trend does look worse compare few year back. Graphic demand is getting higher considering high end card can only achieve around 60+fps for some newly games ( with such an expensive cost ). I think I will just wait the next series as new CPU is coming next year. Now just struggling to play these games with my 5870. Performance optimizations seem to be lacking as the GPU goes down from a high-end card. Blame it on console port? Anyways, "Far Cry 3" is really demanding on the maximum setting. Even my 680 seem to struggle here and there though smooth for most part. I don't think there are recent games that seem to throw everything at the screen like FC3. |

QUOTE(Jet23sky @ Dec 10 2012, 11:01 AM) It makes me remind of crysis 1 few years back, that time even the highest end graphic card couldn't satisfy the game demand, until 2 years later since the game had launched. I think the trend might come again following Far Cry 3, Crysis 3, and who knows, maybe assassin creed 3 and company of heroes 2. Well, even if there are games like Crysis 1, it would just be a few. "Crysis 3" could be the next that can bring down any machine. As for AC3, it is more of case of poor optimizations. Not too sure about CoH 2. I notice you're using an i7 860, which is quite frankly... weak. I have an i7 870, had to overclock to 4GHz only then my GPU was able to perform at its intended level. |

QUOTE(Jet23sky @ Dec 10 2012, 12:57 PM) I guess some games may have some contraints on CPU. Nevertheless, my rig main issue that have made me to tune the performance is the graphic card. Imagine Nvidia 680 users do feel a bit jerky while playing. How about Radeon 5870. If planning on getting a high-end GPU, e.g 680/670/660, your processor will become a limitation as it was with my case. After upgrading my 460 to a 680, games actually become slower and struggled. Couldn't get proper max fps in e.g Unigine. It turns out my CPU couldn't 'keep up' (CPU/GPU linear scaling) with how much the GPU was able to process thus something like a bottle-neck, but with negative performance impact. So just a suggestion to either get a better processor or OC it if you're planning on getting a new GPU especially high-end.If upgrade, graphic card will be the first to upgrade. But this year is a bit different with others, cause quite a number of games cannot be run in a max setting if I buy the graphic card. Somemore new CPU is coming in. And I do hope that 20nm is coming in. ( Which apparently I don't think it will be on 2013, instead it will be on 2014 ). I will see how it goes. |

QUOTE(Calvin871989 @ Jan 8 2013, 01:46 AM) The enormous challenge of process shrink means TSMC's 20 nm will not debut for almost another year. Both AMD and Nvidia will be using their existing 28nm. This means a tweaked and enhanced version of their 2012 products rather than a new design. Besides the 600 series are still going incredibly strong, no real reason to push for the next series. You can read about it here: http://www.pcauthority.com.au/News/327809,...ds-in-2013.aspx QUOTE While that kind of gargantuan leap forward will not occur this generation (Nvidia may release 20nm GPUs at the end of the year) there is still a big difference between today’s 28nm process and the one that debuted twelve months ago. Back then there were a lot of faulty pieces that came of the production lines (more so for big chips) and limits on the number of chips that could be produced - this pushed up prices. My prediction as to when we will see GTX 780 - Late 2013 or early 2014. Wide availability sometime in 2014. I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing 4th generation Core i7 to 'keep up'. |

Can't wait for "Crysis 3 Open Multiplayer Beta"! And then have to try out the latest Beta drivers that seem to even further improve performance in AC3 (which I have barely scratched the surface).

I hear whispers of Nvidia 700 Series later this year - but don't expect a huge performance increment. Nvidia will be doing a bit of a re-branding. Think of it as a refinement of the 600 Series. GK110 will be one to watch out for.
