Advice is 2try 2keep radius difference within +/- 2.5%.
Differences betwwen 195/50R15 and 195/55R15 are :
For 195/55R15 :
Diff of 3.43%. Diameter +20mm Circumference +62mm
At 70kph, Speedometer wld be showing 72.40kph.
Your choice/decision....as alwaz...
wronglar ah hia. Supposedly when your speedo shows 70kph, whilst you're actually travelling at 72.4kph lar. This is also why after upgraded tayar size would have loss some mileage. But if you calculate base on travelled distance compare to prior tayar change, they're more or less the same
Who using 15" rim? FC large difference with 14" rim's FC?
QUOTE(tctham @ Aug 21 2012, 07:28 PM)
i'm kinda lost on the tire part.. so if i now stock on everything, should i change to davidke's tire settings? Would it offer better FC, better stability/handling and comfort? Sorry i noob, need sifu(s) explain
On a 15" rim, if tyres is 50 series, your FC may not have any changes because the tyre's diameter remains. However, the width is 195, which will be slightly wider than the 14" stock. So, you may create more friction + better handling but slightly compromise in FC(*not quite noticeable).
I upgraded from 13" steel rim directly to 15", therefore I can really felt the total drag down of power output. From 14 to 15 wouldn't feel much different I think. So, up to you guys what you want. I like 55 series just because I want it to be more comfortable. On 55 series tyre, because the diameter is larger than 50 series, and therefore the wheel turn less round so your mileage record will slightly drop a little(means it will looks like increased FC). However, if you're those kind of people who count on how many days pump petrol once, you probably won't feel any difference at all.

It's already stiff as it is, you wanna change to stiffer ah? you probably dowan to lower it as well because you will need to make the springs and abs even more stiffer so you won't sagat....Unless you wanna make it taller like Unker's car
AGAIN!!! Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the bugger tallest among them all?!
Bought my rim second hand long time ago for RM2.2k (or somewhere around this price). Tyres was bought at RM220 per piece quite a while back too. For tyres, centre cone, alignment, etc, total spent about RM1k.
What rim wor? R3? What tyres wor? What kinda centre cone/alignment they did wor?
Total spending of RM4080 for 2nd hen rim + tyres + alignment work Mine all in RM800 nia

ps. Wonder if springs & shocks can handle the xtra weight of 15" rims shod with 195/50R15? Also effects on wheel bearings & other suspension stuff?
Boss, depending on what rim u using. Extra/under offset may definitely hurt the suspension. Extra offset, steering rack senang pecah. Under offset, lower arm bushing fast wear off.
Other than that, if your tayar+rim almost same weight, no difference than standard in wear and tear. However, if weight increased by 5kg/side, significant increase in wear & tear is applied on absorbers/wheel bearing/bushings/FC. Although I say significat, you probably hard to notice it also, as an average pessenger's weight about 60kg, devide by 4 donuts you already increased 15kg/wheel, what is 5kg to the foot work then?
Last but not least, excess tayar width not only bring handling, side effect is higher FC/tayar more expansive and also increased in footwork maintenance
The different is only -0.33%.....So he decided no need to upgrade unless u upgrade to 195/55/ R15.....
Some oldskol tayar shop like my father's buddy type, they strongly against upgrade tayar size for some reason, like help you save money, troubleshooting and also dun want u later go back complain FC hai and stuff.
However, as a pahlawan berdarah panas, extra 10mm tayar width does increase much more grip! The best tayar I had was a set of imported ADVAN AD01 195/55R14 on my Iswaga! Those tyres cornering/braking like a boss! Sad thing is, they no longer produce those size anymore. Currently using Falken ZE522 195/55R15 on my GaGa, I dun even wanna compare it with the old M3!
I heard DUCARO is much better than those M3. So, it all depends on what you're looking for. More grips? More chantekness? Definitely wider tyres provide a better play ground. 195/50R15 does not change much in diameter, but each side 10mm will give you better grip. Tyre wall height is regardless, but generally 55 series provide more comfortness compare to 50 series. These are my opinion
I'm at kemuning working.. can ask for tyre price? Neuton NT8000?
Added on August 22, 2012, 1:34 pmwhere is that place? cannot find on google map..
Later go ask. Locate at Jalan Bukit Kemuning, behind Giant there middle tayar shop, got huge signboard TOYO TYRE. Small signboard say TEOH BROTHER TYRE SERVICES.
how bz is he?? Nitrogen gas? for the past 2 year been using that on my fish.. now dont have... for the past the price is 1st pump RM5/donut... refill RM2/donut... now dunno wats the cost...
Thanks for feed back. So its roughly RM5/donut

Nitrogen gas? Frankly, dun waste yr $$$, Bro.... Used for my ole ride... Not really got good benefits except longer tyre pressure chks/fill up needed...
Actually normal air oledi 70% Nitro....and the Nitro the shop machine provides is abt 90 or so % Nitro nia. Should show %age on machine... Depends on how efficient is the chemical they got in the machine at that point in time to remove the oxygen/CO2 from the air....
Explain to you later. Planning about bulk for this
Unker Dave: Have you ever find your Schrader valve moist/wet after you inflate/deflate your tyres? Streetricer: Dude! There's WATER inside my tyres!!!!
D: Have you ever wonder where does the water came from? S: Dude! I ran over a puddle!!!!
D: If water can go in your tyre, the air inside your tyre is not pressurized. S:
D: Its the inflator, that brings along moist when pressurized your tyres! S: WTF?! How did that happened?!
D: Because most air compressor didn't fit with moist separator. D(continued): Where do you fill up your tyres? Do you need to pay for COMPRESSED AIR? Do you have their maintenance record? Have you seen what is inside a compressor tank? Lots of rust! When one depressurized it, terbalik the tong and this is what happen:
S: W T F ....
D: Don't worry, fill it up with Nitrogen. It's more stable and waterless. If you're gonna change new tyres already, please negotiate with your tukang tayar and hope he/she give it to you for free. Those who missed the chance, this is an opportunity to get it with slightly cheaper price.
This is no magic which can make your car save fuel. This is no magic which can help your car maintain tyre pressure forever and ever. From what I understand and benefited previously, nitrogen gas is VERY stable compare to normal compressed air. You ask me how much does it help? Sorry I don't feel much different even I used it for sometime already. One should understand, the air we're breathing now already contain 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxigen and 1% other gasses. So, why bother to fill up with pure Nitrogen(if not, almost pure, need atleast 95% purity to have the benefit). Pure nitrogen has been used to inflate critical tire applications for years, primarily because it doesn't support moisture or combustion. These include racing tires (IndyCar, Formula 1, NASCAR), aircraft tires (commercial and military) and heavy-duty equipment tires (earthmovers and mining equipment). The challenge facing nitrogen inflation hasn't been its application, it's been its method of supply and cost. Nitrogen molecules have a more difficult time escaping through the microscopic spaces that exist between a tire's rubber molecules. Nitrogen is a "slow" inactive gas labeled as an inert gas due to its nonreactive nature with many materials. Oxygen on the other hand is a "fast" active gas that reacts with many materials called "oxidation." Additionally nitrogen is a dry gas that doesn't support moisture while oxygen combined with hydrogen makes water (H2O).
Many other hydrogen hype also claims corrosion to the steel belt of tyres and steel rims. But that's not my concern you know that. In Malaysia kinda driving, before the water start to eat up rubber and damaging the steel belt, I already burnt out my tyre like the other day some of you withness outside 3MAX factory I'm more worried as I had experienced previously 1 of my car having trouble with balancing for months couldn't figure what's wrong with it. In the end, I went for tyre change, I think we managed to squeeze up more than a litre of water from all the donuts! How to save petrol?! How to wheel balancing?!
BULK NITROGEN FILL UP AT DISCOUNTED PRICE Usual price: RM5/donut Bulk price: RM15/car(4 donuts, still trying to negotiate for spare tyre) Minimum purchase: 5 cars COD: Jalan Bukit Kemuning, KLANG. TEOH BROTHERS TOYO TYRE SERVICES(behind Giant) Suggested COD date: 1st September, 2012 (Saturday) Bulk closing date: MERDEKA
Extra advantage: Ah Hee from TOYO TYRE promised, participants can go back refill nitrogen anytime for FREE! Whilst some of the tyre shop will charge atleast RM1/tyre.
Very affordable MOD!
Replace normal compressed air with high purity nitrogen is modification rite
Disclaimer: I'm not affiliate to any of these supplier, neither do I make a single cent of profit from the bulk purchase. I want some discount and share with my friends about affordable things I do to my car. Inhaling pure (or high density/concentration) nitrogen may cause decease/disease, some reading material available here.
If it's nearer I might consider it, but going all the way to Kemuning just to fill up my donuts is a bit extreme
Tol and Petrol not cheapĀ

IMHO this Bulk Purchase is a good offer! Esp for those Bros who are staying near the shop...
Yup, Main benefit is VERY slow loss of pressure in tyres...mayb a few mths once only yu need 2chk that...compared to weekly or fortnightly for AIR-filled tyres... And yup, the water vapour in pressurised air is also true!
The only problem is (hopefully) the proper & regular maintenance of the Nitro-production machine. It uses chemicals to absorb mainly moisture, oxygen (dunno abt CO2 cos it's only 0.03% in Air) from atmospheric air.
Btw the BEST (maybe correct?) way to FIRST time fill up a tyre with Nitro gas is to: a) Empty the tyre of ALL air b) Fill up the tyre with high % Nitro gas c) Re-empty the tyre of juz filled Nitro gas d) Re-fill tyre with high % Nitro gas.
Finally, once yu fill up yr Nitro-filled tyres even once with normal Air, yu need to empty & refill those tyres from scratch!!
My view? Go get it!! It's juz a ONE-TIME payment! Esp if the shop is easily accessible by yr ride...
ps. Me gave up using Nitro cos of poor availabilty of shops that hv that machine...
QUOTE(kenjilew @ Aug 22 2012, 08:38 PM)
thanks alot bro david for getting this for us ! but sorry to say i`ll have to pass on this too...
No problem guys. I already thought of that, for dares is even worse to take 4x RM2.20 toll + 40km trip just to save up 5 bucks. I was hoping those who stay near shah alam/klang area would take an opportunity. Those who can't make it to TEOH BROTHERS are also encouraged to do it at your local tyre shop since it's not very expansive. Share my opinion nia. If until Merdeka also no other participants, I'll go by myself with no discount lor what to do
