Optima owner reporting in.

Bought new July 2013. Now about 65k done.

All ok except for a couple of issues.

1. A/C not cold when stopped in traffic - any ideas what is wrong? Workshop says no problem with gas.

2. When am I supposed to change to autotransmission oil? Or am I not supposed to change it?

Also, all tyres are going bald and my front suspension beginning to squeak.

That because I travel over 108 speed bumps every day I go & return from work.

Rgds,

1.)  you need to ask the sc to update the aircond software.  i thought all sc should know that if u report your aircond is not cold.

2.)  please check your car user manual, it states that very clear.  i believe is either at 40k or 50k km.

you can find all your questions with answers from your sc if you stick to your service scedule.

cheers!

I never go to sc.

Thrown away my warranty when I bought the car.

Don't want to be cheated.

Car now about 76k.

Recently had a problem with my steering.

There was a bit of free play and klunking noise from steering column.

No warranty.

Lucky I didnt send to SC otherwise they will ask me to change whole steering column for x thousands.

Settled outside for RM180.

Coupling ?

Not sure the name but the culprit is a small gear made of rubber. It is approx 1" diameter.

Apparently the part sudah hancur hence the free play and rattling.

Replaced the part and now all ok.

ipohmali70 which shop did you go to fix the coupling issue?

Just a normal shop in Seri Kembangan.

You have the same issue? If you car still under warranty why not send to sc?

been searching some car selling portal but did not see any >2014 Kia K5 for sell sad.gif

I might want to sell my Jul 2013 reg model soon.

The place where I stay plenty of speed bumps, and unfortunately they added a few large ones recently.

K5 being such a low slung car, its hard not to scrape the bottom, esp when fully loaded.

Any major problem for this k5 ? Plan to get an used unit year 12 or 13. Maintenance cost is roughly at what range ? Hope some owner can give some advise.

Hi sifus, I'm planning to buy a used optima 2015.
I called Naza and they said the warranty won't be valid as the car missed 2 services.

But the used car dealer say it will be valid and that's what service agents will tell you. He also said he's a kia dealer and the warranty is valid.

Should I go ahead with this car?

I bought mine new. Tore up the "warranty" upon receipt of the car. You should see the dealers face. I didnt even use the "free" servicing.

It's meaningless when its filled with so many conditions.

"Warranties" are designed to tie you to the SC and make you a cash cow to the company, so that they can skim (some say scam) as much as possible from you during "warranty" period.

Even if you follow the conditions, sometimes they will still not honor their "warranty".

A couple of years back a VW owner had the shock of his life when he was quoted 50k+ by the sc just for one measly wire harness, which had failed after being apparently gnawed by rats.

To the owner's consternation, this kind of damage is not covered by their "warranty".

Caveat emptor!
