Ring Key puller is bad.
It scratches key, and one time, I pull out a whole stem. Had to do operation on the keyboard.

Wire Keypullers do not have this issue.

The Topre keypuller is just for show. Not very practical at all.

I going to buy the wire type Keypuller too. Some said Filco one is the best, can pull 3 keys continuous.
qtan from Geekhack got sell USD9.90. Plan to order from him

Since you are in Thailand...

Cyclone's leopold keypuller is cheaper.
My Vortex keypuller is no where to be seen sweat.gif

Good for Aussie smile.gif
Aus to other country is very expensive.
heavyarm quoted me RM25 + Postage to thai for Filco Keypuller. Now he is checking how much. If RM10 or so I dont mind get from him instead of qtan.

By the way, I finally got 2 CC Keycaps (Topre). Prepare to ship soon.  thumbup.gif

Put stamp, no tracking, RM1.50 can reach Thailand already for a keypuller.
Tracking add Rm4.10

what does it mean by pull 3 keys continuous?
can pull 3 keys at same time?

any video showing it in actions?

Added on August 30, 2012, 1:20 pmthe Leopold is selling at $6?
last time get from cyclone RM15 I think....
wonder he still have stock...
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2012978&hl=

I had a Filco one before, I think the Leopold one is better,
since the wire on the Leopold one is split but the one on Filco is close tight.
when use, the Leopold one just need to put them on the side of the key one side and the other side slide in easily.
For the Filco one, you have to split the wire on the key puller to split it apart to fit to the other side of the key.
*
Pull 3 keys without having to remove the keycaps for R4
For R1/R2 keys, can fit up to 4 keys. This only applies for 2nd gen FILCO keypuller.

Leopold keypuller is nice for 1x keys, FILCO keypuller is great for modifiers.

I may have to decline the offer since I will be needing the kb quite urgently and the mech kb tester will takes some time reach me, no? But kaiserreich boss, if I only play games like HON and CS(not that much) + doing some assignments (report/thesis writings) which one would you recommend?  hmm.gif
*
I don't even know where the numpad is right now. sweat.gif

Get browns. Brown is pretty nice all rounder. Balance between gaming and typing.
With linear switch, it's nice for gaming, but when you type a lot, you make mistakes more easily.

Heavy duty become heavier duty already tongue.gif

Changing springs for CM keyboard,
do you need to solder the switches from the PCB board?
or is it PCB mounted like Cherry board?
*
Need to desolder. That's the easy part.
The hard part is always to open it up and lubing it. Took a whole day to lube the 87 switches.
Feels pretty nice. But still, modern blacks can't match WYSE blacks.

I've done some soldering before, i just need some guide to tell me where to solder/de-solder.

Can a non-backlit keyboard be modded to become backlit?  hmm.gif
*
Yes.
But you need to determine the matrix and also whether the you have enough current to power up all of the LEDs.

It's harder to find replacement keys set for that one i think.

Replacement keys for 84-keys keyboards:

Leaving the Mx-mini out of discussion

Noppoo mini 84 key, with lower POM caps, cherry profile. Stupid spacebar length means you are stuck with it for life.

Keycool 84, can probably fit a Cherry Doubleshot set, needs 1 set from the MY1800, and a moogle kit to complete the transformation. I'm not sure about the spacebar. If it follows the FC200R design, then there's no problem.

Race is a backlit version 84 key, and it has those 1.25x keys. You can probably order 1.25x keys blanks from SP.

The replacements available are from Vortex.
But otherwise, it is not possible like you said.

An update about Unicomp shipping to Malaysia. The good news is that they now ship stuff to Malaysia (again)! I was excited for maybe a minute. Why? The bad news... the only method of shipping is FedEx International. As an indication of how obscene the shipping cost is, two printed RGB sets will set you back a few cents under US$62. That's nuts!
*
I think in that case, it is better to get a big group buy with keyboards to go, or to ask US proxies to help.
The people at Geekhack at great in helping out, especially when such gross injustice occurs.

I did some testing with the unicomp calculator

1 keyboard $62 (62/ea)
2 keyboard $73.9 (37/ea
3 keyboard $99.9 (33.3/ea)
4 keyboard $117 (29.25/ea)
5 keyboard $138.54 (27.7/ea)

Or about 10 sets of 101-key Model M keycap set, ships at $67

Pretty decent shipping cost, but we need a lot of people joining to make it worthwhile

Wow. Pretty nice. KBT ONI.
Let me ask Vortex see what are their terms on this one.
Definitely PBT is not backlit. Either ABS and backlit, or PBT

Looks like really Costar made

Look at that arrow key. All Costar TKL has the same issue.

what i think is a rebranded filco actually
*
QUOTE(kid.itech @ Sep 4 2012, 08:07 PM)
Did you clarify the specs with them? heh
*
Definitely not a rebranded FILCO.
Look at the PCB, different design. But I think they keep the matrix and the mounting plate the same, which does not rectify the issue with the arrow key.

Aww, the price is worth it. RM330 you can get full PBT. So you getting?  brows.gif
but I might as well stick with my Keycool, although 37PBT only sad.gif
*
Rm330 for PBT, is pretty close to the Ducky 9008 PBT when it was available but this is definitely cheaper.
If vortex delivers, I might be able to provide PBT dye subs sets for cheap in the near future tongue.gif

i might consider it, but something bothers me, the spacebar stabilizers between costar and standard cherry compatible?

update: about to pay now, just need to know if any standard cherry based spacebar / modifiers can use or not
*
Ask seller to pull a spacebar.
But based on the pictures, it is compatible.

That what Im concerning too before buying a mechanical keyboard. Would prefer costar stabilizer. biggrin.gif

After you tried a WYSE keyboard, you'll know why Cherry Stab is preferred choice of them Koreans.
