(Ignore the pink slip, It's just to remind me what's the pin for when I subscribe to new channels tongue.gif)

(Note2: Yeah, you must enter a PIN number before it will allow you to subscribe. Additional safety feature to ensure kids and senile seniors don't accidentally buy subscription that they shouldn't buy).

Hope our PVR gets 2TB soon. 500GB definitely not enough. brows.gif

What happens if you mod and install own 2TB HDD? Is it the decoder cannot boot with new HDD? Or can the decoder detect that it's been modded and warn Assteruk and/or harakiri itself?

A new mosaic ch launched today on mio TV, mio Stadium Multiview, HD channel. Cheers.
*
And assteruk got rid of theirs... shakehead.gif

TM allows you to create your own mosaic by tagging channels as favorites tho. Hopefully ABN will also have a mosaic function of sorts.

During my new house renovation, I told my wiring man to pull and conceal Astro cable. But I did not tell him whether I will be subscribing to HD or just normal service.

Now I wanted to subscribe Astro HD, is the existing cable usable? From what I gather, I need to pull another cable if I want to activate PVR service. Else one cable will do.

Appreciate can get answer from here smile.gif
*
Yes, it's true. The reason being that PVR has two tuners, and PVR dish receiver is dual-head, as such need two cables to connect the dish to the PVR.

Unless Assteruk IPTV is available in your area. Just sign up for it and forget about the dish.

If just plain Astro Beyond where I don't need the PVR, is the existing cable can be used for HD? In other words, HD and normal is using the same cable from dish to decoder?
*
Depends on whether the cable you installed previously is suitable grade. Cable used by Assteruk Byond needs to be 5C or better. Iirc since 3-4 years ago Assteruk contractor will also install 5C cable for normal Assteruk, but before that they might install 3C cable, which is slightly thinner. It's good enough for assteruk SD, but not enough for HD. Since your wiring is concealed, there is no way to find out except to connect a Byond decoder and see if HD channels keep dropping out or have poor reception quality (from the signal strength screen)

Iirc, normal. Wait until Assteruk cut to show local advertisement- the loudness of that portion will be normal.

Eh, you mean assteruk fixed the problem? I remember back in 2009 and 2010 this was a common problem on assteruk, I still remember some complaints on earlier versions of this thread...

do u still find tis problem on your astro?
*
Well, like Fubar20 says, I don't have assteruk since 2011 tongue.gif

But my aunt living nearby still has assteruk, because my grandfather and grandmother who's living with her watch HHD. And she has to turn the volume quite high with the channels compared to when using TM IPTV or watching normal TV. Yes, decoder volume is maximum already. But then, she's still using old Nokia decoder, no point to upgrade to B.yond because don't have HDTV.

ya. i am using old decoder not byond.
mean it is unsolved problem since day one? which mean u facing it prior to 2011 when u was a astro user as well?
*
Well, I remember needing to turn the volume of my TV up quite high as well (20-30 iirc, i think sometimes up to 40 as well) compared to watching normal antenna or playing Wii. So yes. But my decoder was the silver color Thompson decoder (later replaced with Pace first gen B.yond decoder before I terminated)

I'm in Hat Yai for holiday right now, and well, I really envy the Thais. Not only is C-Band (parabola dish) legal, they also have 2-3 different satellite providers. So far I've seen dishes from DTV and True Visions. In Malaysia, it's Assteruk or nothing sad.gif

Hi guys, just trying to check if you guys hv faced same problem before..
Recently I have some problems with my Astro Byond PVR..

I owned Astro Byond PVR, around ~2yrs now.

Recent problem that I face is that some recent recordings hv some issues:

1. recording time is complete.
2. some recordings hv issues, i.e. distorted, stuck during playback.. similar problem
like playing a scratched DVD.
3. however, some other recent recordings are fine..
4. old recordings are also fine.. those affected are within this past week.
5. the internal HDD is 50% full.

of course, my next step is to check with astro.. just would like to check if anybody
here face similar issues.
*
Hmmm... It just occured to me... If you're recording and then rain fade happens. Since the decoder doesn't actually record per se but stores the entire stream, if rain fade happens the stream becomes corrupted. So the decoder playback will skip and break. However, this is only logical if you're using dish to record, since IPTV is not affected by rain fade...

Only chinese watch japanese or korean shows.

Malays watch indonesians and arab shows.

Indians watch indian, pakistan, sri lanka or bangladesh shows.

Not a really good generalization. With Koreamania sweeping the country at the moment, many Gen-Y Malays also watching Korean shows (otherwise, how to explain what my Malay colleagues watching on their smartphone during lunch breaks?). And of course, Japanese anime is a staple among all three races with Gen-Y as well: Who doesn't know or watch Doraemon or Naruto, or Dragon Ball?

doraemon, dragon ball are all cartoons mostly watched by children of all races even though they don't understand them.

What i am talking about are non-children japanese shows with jap cuisines, jap culture etc .
NHK channels are not all cartoons but mostly of japanese culture, cuisines, temples etc.

Jap costumes (kimono), chopsticks/wok, writing system, architecture etc are actually copied from the chinese. And also buddhism in japan is similar to china.
Do you think malays are interested in these ?
*
Remember 1993-1994? When Japanmania instead was sweeping through Malaysia? TV3 showing Japanese serials dubbed into Malay. The fact that it's dubbed into Malay says that Chinese folks aren't the main audience...

Which non malay movies/shows are not dubbed into malay subtitles on free TV ?  laugh.gif

They want to put into malay subtitles even if nobody watches it because they think it is the national language.
Um, what I mean was, they got local actors to do voiceover work on those serials >.<

I wouldn't hold my breath for it. Assteruk don't give a d**n about kids programming. More interested in shoving local rubbish like Upin and Ipin down people's throat vmad.gif mad.gif

Ok, fine. I apologize for trashing Upin and Ipin. And I admit that my real reason is I cannot click with the show because the teaching is a dissonance to me.

agreed.
this is the first time i see people who dont like Upin Ipin.
most of their series is resembling much kids during 80's and 90's.
its just so nostalgic when we can see how we played last time, not like nowadays everyone is playing on their gadget
*
Look, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I ever dissed the show. I made a very stupid mistake. I'm just fed up that Disney is showing all this instead of shows I can actually click with, I'm fed up at how TV9 actually airs the show two times a day, and I picked the wrong target. I'm sorry.

I didn't live the perfect live everyone else lived. I'm a freak. I'm sorry. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I should have realized free speech is just an illusion in this country. I don't deserve to exist because I'm different. I'm a freak. I'm sorry.
