I see. Wasn't aware of this. So can you please suggest any affordable HDMI to Component with HDCP support that can be bought in Malaysia ?
*
Well, hard to say. I think some stores in LYN carries converters, but I'm not sure if they're HDCP compliant.

Can you check what's the signal strength from your STB? I noticed that when the signal strength is low, some HD channel quality will be grainier. After I re-adjust the satelite dish myself and installed in-line amplifier, the grainy picture is no more. Previously my signal strength is just around 42db. Now I around 70db.
*
It's also a known fact that Assteruk signal is recompressed due to censorship (decompressed, censored, sometimes subbed and then recompressed). Maybe that's the cause of the degraded picture?

Is Astro coming up with another Korean channel (tvN HD) ? I think I saw its advertisement just now on StarWorld HD but I am not completely sure.

How come Assteruk can get TvN HD? I thought that channel belongs to TM?

Unless it means that the stupid monopoly rules are being relaxed oredi, which I hope is the case.

Well, I really hope the channel is three-way shared between TM, Assteruk and ABN. After all, Australia Network is available on both TM and Assteruk, and I think is also going to appear on ABN.

Dato’ Mohamed Sharil elaborated, “In accordance with the conditions set out in the AIP, they will then have six months to complete this detailed Business Plan which will include detailed frequency assessment across the country, taking measurements at the transmission sites, detailed set-top box proposals including detailed execution modalities and firm up their financial capability to build, operate and maintain the DTTB infrastructure. The estimated cost to undertake these detailed second round activities alone will be in the millions”.

So we're not allowed to pick and choose which STB we want? Stupid, stupid, stupid! Want choice to pick and choose the decoder we want to use!

QUOTE
“For the people, Digital Terrestrial Television means that they will be able to enjoy more television channels, high definition (HD) quality programmes, interactive applications like real-time voting for reality shows, Personal Video Recording, Pay-per-View channels, and much more,” explained Dato’ Mohamed Sharil.

Dafuq MCMC out of their bloody mind? We have had Personal Video Recording in Analog. It's called the VCR.

Also, pay per view channels? Really out of their bloody mind. People who pick up DVB-T most likely don't want PPV (even though it backs up my theory about MP and RTM offering Emas and a handful of channels as a scrambled channel while others as FTA, and backs up my theory regarding of giving them a method of enforcing TV license again in the future).

This, along with the banning of Erykah Badu but allowing Justin Beaver, sorry, Beiber, is concrete proof that the MCMC is too dumb to live.

Why so many korean HD channels ? One HD, KBS HD and now channel M ?
Can we have discovery science HD or BBC HD ?

Good luck requesting for BBC through Assteruk. Assteruk hates BBC, claims no one watch. And now BBC not in very good term with Assteruk after they found out Assteruk butcher their news channel...

I spent over a year lobbying for Assteruk to bring back BBCE. All the noise fell on deaf ears. Guess how happy I was when TM bring BBCE back to Malaysia...

Bottom line: You want BBC HD? Better to ask TM or maybe ABN. Assteruk and BBC... shakehead.gif

--

As for M HD... Hope it's a multi-provider deal, and they don't allow Assteruk to monopoly. Since Australia Network is currently available on both, and apparently KidsCO will still be available on TM when ABN launches. If assteruk rampas M HD, There will be backlash...

Astro is a puppet of govt, how can they censor news from BBC ?
*
I'd like you to refresh your memory to during the last Bersih protest. If you recall, people found out that Assteruk's feed of BBC World was heavily censored because they compare what they saw on Assteruk against what was uploaded to Youtube. Then BBC came in and demand explanation and got a half-assed one from the home ministry, saying that they have to block according to their guide to "upkeep peace" (I think we all know what he really means).

QUOTE(jalsrix @ Nov 28 2012, 12:58 PM)
Anyway, I am fine with no BBC HD but can we have Channel news asia or HD 5 from Singapore ?

I went to Thailand and even they have channel news asia on their satellite dishes

So why not malaysia who is our nearest neighbour and most of us have many relatives and friends residing/working in singapore ?  hmm.gif
We do have Channel News Asia. It's only available on TM and DETV at the moment, but most likely ABN will also have it. And on TM it's delayed 5 minutes for censorship also...

(Note how the TM decoder clock says 1:17, but the obscured channel clock says 13:13, or 1:13).

Proof of CNA on TM:

It's not that >.< They have the 2009 new Strawberry Shortcake! >.<

Disney lost the license of Strawberry Shortcake to Time-Warner, but Time Warner put the show on Boomerang instead of Cartoon Network despite it not being a old cartoon, probably so they don't have to show less Ben 10 on CN sad.gif

IPTV from Redtone, only popular among Chinese people since it mainly carries China channels, but in it's handful of non-Chinese channels it has CNA. Still alive because it has a small but loyal group of subscribers, and because it isn't ISP-locked. You can plug the decoder into Streamyx, P1, UniFi, etc, and it will still work.

Hmmm, Just checked their website, CNA no longer listed >.< But it's still listed on the CNA page at Wikipedia >.<

Anyways, you know you can watch CNA on www.hypp.tv even if you don't have UniFi? The www.hypp.tv IPTV is a stripped down version of TM IPTV meant for Streamyx users, dun have a lot of channels that is on TM IPTV, but they're still carrying FashionTV SD (which has been dropped from TM IPTV- TM IPTV now only carries FashionTV HD) and they do have CNA.

How come there's no ad from Redtone in the mainstream media ?

How much is the monthly fees ?
*
http://www.etv.my/etv/index_en.html

Maybe they only advertise in Chinese newspaper?

Also, the only other proof of their existence is a shop at Times Square.

I already terminated for over two years tho. Looks like they now changing their STB to something Android based?

I think the monthly fees around RM50-60, but given that they only have 20-30 channels or so. Also, the new website say now no more monthly fees?

Both MioTV and Starhub getting ESPN and Star Sports... Nice. Cannot expect this to also happen in Malaysia because of Assteruk exclusivity and the government is pro-monopoly :/

Seeing ESPN and Star Sports being also available on TM, ABN and DETV is only a dream in this country sad.gif

I thot abnxcess is govt owned? Also depends on content provider to look at long run scenario, casting their net wider n let other operators carry it.

Heard fr my relative here that ABN is likely launching after elections....maybe that explains the silence on their facebook recently....not sure how true...

Thing is, the Gomen allow assteruk's sleazy lockdown contracts. Any provider who sign with assteruk is normally prohibited from also appearing on other providers' listing, and the gomen encourages that. So far the only exceptions are local terrestrial channels and Australia Network. Remains to see whether M HD will join Australia Network on the multi-platform list or TM will lose M HD :/

And for sports channel, very unlikely to go multi platform because that's assteruk's cash cow- the only reason people have to sign up for assteruk.

Astro IPTV will be available on Unifi?

Possible. If it can go through Maxis (which backbones on TM), then surely can go through TM.

I suspect the infra is already there and their VLAN already exists (after all, how are Maxis users going to use the service if they don't have the infra and VLAN in place?). They're probably only working out how to bill TM users.

Still not signing back up tho. TM IPTV actually has channels I want. Assteruk... shakehead.gif

BUT hopefully this also means that TM IPTV will become available to P1/Maxis users brows.gif

I think I remember seeing on Lyngsat that Only RTM1, RTM2 and TV3 are transmitted into open C-Band platform. Rest are all terrestrial only. But still, cheaper for them to get RTM and MP via terrestrial vs using satellite, and of course assteruk is known to be cheapskate.

Sorry take so long to reply, yesterday too tired, only took pictures very early this morning.

I'm not a subscriber to the channels since I'm not interested in football. But here are grabs from the preview:

Fox Football Channel Plus. No official indication if it's HD or SD, but the picture is very sharp so it's certainly HD).

Fox Football Channel. Again, no official indication if it's HD or SD, but this time the picture is a bit blurry, so I suspect SD or Widescreen SD

How does the preview channel works (for channels you do not subscribe)? You can still view it full-screen?

On Starhub, we get a black screen reminding us to subscribe to the channel in order to view it....likewise for mio TV....believe the same for astro.....Hypp TV allows full-screen viewing?? Pls. enlighten.

Well, it's fullscreen alright. But only for 30 seconds, and with that "press OK to subscribe or up/down to change channel" message permanently visible.

user posted image
When you tune into a channel you haven't subscribed, there will be a message saying press "OK" to preview.

user posted image
After the 30 seconds preview, the screen goes completely blank and the message is changed to press OK to subscribe.

Well, given they already sign assteruk's contract... Unless they can do miracle and have what happen to Australia Network happen to them and their contract didn't say that they have to be exclusive to Assteruk...

In The Philippines, you can also get all three Disney channels on multiple cable TV providers as well as satellite TV. Same for CN and Nick iirc. Corrupt as their politics is, they're still not as bad as over here where TV is concerned...

Heck, they even have Adult Swim and Comedy Central!
