QUOTE(fulat @ Aug 9 2012, 07:57 PM)
milo tin? a 5 ton lorry bang on the side when owner try to make a u-turn.. check it out see any blood or not.. and the driver is safe. no need to go hospital.

user posted image

with a 1300kg body of preve. acceleration is very sluggish is expected with cvt gearbox. well... soft turbo might not beat the real turbo. but it sudden power kick in does make it an options if u want more power. engine sound can be eliminate most of it like my ride...

its 5 years warranty.... 150k km is good enough to cover for 5 years drive. unless u are doing sales.

not to mention it has 4 airbag. ESC. those safety features.
personally i dont think u gave a fair review to all the model above there... and those information above might mis lead the buyer decisions too.

all 5-ton lorry must drive beyond 20-30km/h? depend on driver, road, traffic & weather condition.

what is the speed of the preve?
how much load does the lorry carry when it hits preve?

cakap kencang with pics everyone also can la.
probably the crash is by a 2 tonne toyota Dyna but people add cawk to the story become 5 tonne.

mana drill?

front to front collision? side collision? Collision from behind?

BMW manage to slow down first? Kia Rio manage to swerve for minimal impact?

How much is the impact cause by 4333 lbs (BMW 7 series) compared with 5 tonne lorry (assume there is no load)?

Car, lorry, bus or airplane crash result depend on speed. Many thing to be consider. If only got info about vehicle type & crash result can make people confuse.

It is possible if there are two lanes . The Preve may have taken a U-turn from the Left lane to the opposite road. The lorry can come from the right lane

that bmw slow down from 170km/h to 150km/h and it was a red light at that time. that junction got accident almost everyweek. Cant assume the impact of the 5 tonne lorry bcoz u didnt state the speed. even alam flora lorry nvr go more than 30km/h. lorry doesnt mean speedy. if full load sure slower. same as the tanker.

no drill yet. last year pic forgot where put. lol.

If you look at the damage to the car, obviously it is not a direct collision.
The damage looks more like a scrape from the rear door to the front. That is why the front door is peeled like that.

It is possible if there are two lanes . The Preve may have taken a U-turn from the Left lane to the opposite road. The lorry can come from the right lane

If this, then the Preve driver not following the rules la right? rclxub.gif

If not, how come can cut from left then u-turn? hmm.gif

actually kemek is good as long as it is not the passenger cabin.
The kemek place is called crumple zone
to absorb the collision force in order to keep the passenger cabin intact.

i think TS might be wrong. instead of being t-bone, that preve just stupid do u-turn from left lane. end up kena scrap by lorry.

You remember that feeling when you were, like, eleven and you were saving up for a bike? You told everyone in your class that you were going to get a bike and it would be so f***ing awesome they'd shit themselves when they saw how much fun you were having on it. You didn't know how to research before buying a bike because you were just a kid, and so instead of saving lots of money for a nice bike, you bought the first bike you could afford just to get it in your sweaty little palms as soon as humanly possible. You had to have the EXPERIENCE of having a bike; the bike itself was a secondary concern, but you were too tightly swaddled in innocence to realize that.

Soon afterward, the rear pegs sheared themselves off, the grips stained your hands, and the handbrake perforated your colon. The clouds part, and your eyes are opened anew to the thing that is your shitty bike. You wasted your summer lawnmowing money on a bike with an engrish knockoff name like 'Schwann' or 'Rally', and everyone knows it. The rich kid at the end of the block with the sweet blue-and-white GT with front-and-rear pegs says he's never heard of your brand of bike before, and you're mortified. What do you do, hot shot? Well...

You automatically defend the f*** out of your bike. Loudly. To the goddamn heavens. It is the best bike ever, and the only reason they haven't heard of it is because it was specially ordered from Norway by your dad or some shit. It only has one pedal? That makes it easier to do those awesome skidding stops that look so badass. It's currently on fire? f***ing 3-D flames, my man, your eyes are just not adjusted yet. You will defend your bike to the death because, although you know in your heart of hearts that you desperately need to ditch the piece of coyote shit that is your bike, you've tied it to yourself in a way that is impossible to feel again if you're not eleven years old. You tied yourself to the experience of having this shitty bike before you even bought it, and you did so publicly to anyone who'd listen.

If you admit the bike is shitty, you admit that you were stupid for hoping. Hoping that a regular, kinda fat kid from the poor family on the street could get to have something nice that he himself picked out and paid for. Hoping that for once the universe would align juuuuust right and give you a pat on the back. Hoping once, just once in your sad life where all the other kids seem to have it all, that you can be proud of one thing (ANYTHING) on the first day back at school. Hoping that you'll never have to admit out loud that your hope died long before the bike was even built.

Proton Preve is the best car ever made with superb safety features and awesome handling with the best price in the world. Just got mine shipped in from Norway.

Not always accident... The reason you see so many accident involving Perodua and Proton is because they are the highly sold & so called cheapest car in Malaysia.

Even Perodua announced that they sold 78k++s of new MYVI in 2011...now percentage of a Myvi getting involve in accident gets higher.

QUOTE(mrg220t @ Aug 11 2012, 12:25 PM)

Proton Pravia is the best car ever made with superb safety features and awesome handling with the best price in the world. Just got mine shipped in from Norway.

Don't only look at what a car has to offer as its specs. Look at how long those specs can last without giving way.

And why do people classify Vios as a 80k car? it is suppose to be ~50k without out ridiculous tax rates! remember that! now compare which car manufacturer makes a better car for 50k?

alot of cars using la.. u from kampong or what?.. now people moved on to ultra high tensile steel.
QUOTE
High tensile steel, as a substitute for mild steel, has been used by the auto industry for decades as it enables vehicle parts to be thinner without reducing strength. This leads to significant savings in vehicle weight, which contributes to better fuel efficiency. Reducing the weight of bumper beams is particularly important; as they are incorporated into the body structure at the furthest point from the vehicle’s centre of gravity, their weight has a considerable effect on dynamic performance and responsiveness. They must also be strong to provide sufficient collision protection. For these reasons, a method of mass-producing the parts using stronger steel has been highly sought after.

did you confuse it with high pressure forming?

what do you mean it's not being used? its found in all the current range of cars la.. LOL.. there are so many types of High tensile steel.

do you even know what is MPa or the meaning of strength in engineering metals? did you do engineering? hmm.gif

QUOTE
Automotive Steel Definitions

Automotive steels can be classified in several different ways. One is a metallurgical designation. Common designations include low-strength steels (interstitial-free and mild steels); conventional HSS (carbonmanganese, bake hardenable, high-strength interstitial-free, and high-strength, low-alloy steels); and the newer types of AHSS (dual phase, transformation-induced plasticity, complex phase, and martensitic steels).  Additional higher strength steels for the automotive market include ferritic-bainitic, twinning-induced plasticity, hot-formed, and post-forming heat-treated steels.

A second classification method important to part designers is strength of the steel. Therefore, this document will use the general terms HSS and AHSS to designate all higher strength steels. In contrast, much of the current literature uses narrowly defined ranges to categorize different steel strength levels. One such system defines High-Strength Steels (HSS) as yield strengths from 210 to 550 MPa and tensile strengths from 270–700 MPa, while Ultra-High-Strength Steels (UHSS) steels have yield strengths greater than 550 MPa and tensile strengths greater than 700 MPa. These arbitrary ranges suggest discontinuous changes in formability when moving from one category to another. However, data show property changes are a continuum across the entire span of steel strengths. In addition, many steel types have a wide range of grades covering two or more strength ranges.

A third classification method presents various mechanical properties or forming  parameters of different steels, such as total elongation, work hardening exponent n, or hole expansion ratio . As an example, Figure 1-1 compares total elongations – a steel property related to formability – for the different metallurgical types of steel. Figure 1-1A shows the lower strength steels in dark grey and the traditional HSS steels in light grey. Some of the early AHSS steel ellipses have colour instead of shades of gray. Figure 1-1B highlights some of the newer higher strength steels for the automotive market. Figures 1-1A and 1-1B illustrate only the relative comparison of different steel grades – not specific property ranges of each type.
user posted image

Figure 1-1A – Schematic of AHSS steels (shown in colour) compared to low strength steels (dark grey) and traditional HSS (light grey).
user posted image

Figure 1-1B – Schematic of newer higher strength steels utilizing unique chemistries, processing, and microstructure to gain more specific properties and forming characteristics.

The principal difference between conventional HSS and AHSS is their microstructure. Conventional HSS are single phase ferritic steels. AHSS are primarily multi-phase steels, which contain ferrite, martensite, bainite, and/or retained austenite in quantities sufficient to produce unique mechanical properties. Some types of AHSS have a higher strain hardening capacity resulting in a strength-ductility balance superior to conventional steels. Other types have ultra-high yield and tensile strengths and show a bake hardening behaviour.

Since the terminology used to classify steel products varies considerably throughout the world, this document uses a combination of methods to define the steels. Each steel grade is identified by metallurgical type, yield strength (in MPa), and tensile strength (in MPa). As an example, DP 500/800 means a dual phase steel type with 500 MPa minimum yield strength and 800 MPa minimum ultimate tensile strength. This classification system was used in the ULSAB-AVC (UltraLight Steel Auto Body – Advanced Vehicle Concepts) Program.

Table 1-1 illustrates a range of AHSS grades used in the ULSAB-AVC body-structure concept design.

Table 1-1 – Examples of Steel Grade Properties from ULSAB-AVC

YS and UTS are minimum values
Tot. EL (Total Elongation) is a typical value for a broad range of thicknesses and gage lengths.

It is important to note that different specification criteria have been adopted by different automotive companies throughout the world and that steel companies have different production capabilities and commercial availability. Therefore, typical mechanical properties are shown above simply to illustrate the broad range of AHSS grades that may be available. It is imperative to communicate directly with individual steel companies to determine specific grade availability and the specific associated parameters and properties, such as:

    Mechanical properties and ranges.
    Thickness and width capabilities.
    Hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and coating availability.
    Chemical composition specifications.

Preve is more better.

Exora is using UHSS + HSS.

Saga BLM, Neo, Gen2 using HSS. But they have different body rigidity rating even using HSS.

Preve using HPF+UHSS. So lagi advance dari kampeni lain.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced in late 2011 the world’s first* Ultra High Tensile Strength Steel rated at 1.2 gigapascals (GPa) which is highly formable, to the extent that it can be used for cold pressing structural body parts. To be deployed globally in models across the Nissan lineup from 2013, it will reduce vehicle body weight by up to 15 kilograms, representing a significant step in improving environmental impact as well as driving performance.

Mazda Motor Corporation, in collaboration with Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. and Aisin Takaoka Co., Ltd., has become the first automaker to successfully develop vehicle components using 1,800 MPa ultra-high tensile steel. The super strength steel will debut in the all-new Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV that will commence its global launch in early 2012.

seems like the 1st in the industry are the 2 makers above in 2011 to 2012

Exora reaching 1800mpa. Preve slightly better than Exora over 1800mpa.

You seldom can find UHSS on average car. That is why Preve is better, it have stronger body compare to other car on the same price range.

Kereta mahal memang banyak UHSS steel dkt body. Proton invest banyak bina HPF facility, so in future mungkin saga pun pakai.

Just got mine shipped in from Norway.

how you know its 250km/h? maybe its only 10km/h.
And how you know preve 10km/h?
When proton accident, they said poor quality, when toyota accident, they say toyota strong, drive 150km/h
Proton haters gonna hate.

Before you say it is toyota is poor quality, do post on how the harrier hit the lorry, from where, how fast it is travelling, etc. From the looks of it, just a picture does not do it justice. If proton is really good, then by all means, it deserve credits. But those pictures alone does not tell everything.

ah bengs will be ah bengs. no cure for them. if they can put 6 exhaust on a wira and convert to look like a supra with wide bodykit...how can compare ah beng to normal car people or car enthusiast? ah bengs can and only be compared to their own category cause they are in a wolrd of their own.

those car enthusiast, who converts the wira to a Evo3 is still nice. car looks pretty good adn performs like a beast that can put a lot of jdm cars to shame. only thing the chasis needs to have some reinforcement to handle the new engine. but when an ah beng gets a wira, immediately on the same day, it becomes a supra twin turbo look alike. with a single cam 1.3 4g13 inside and flame spitters. rclxub.gif

so imagine what happens when an ah being gets a Vios??????????? that my friend is a R35 Gtr for them.

im not gonna bash a car i never tested, or seen anyting happen to it in real life. i have experience 3 protons in my life. 2 were pretty ok, not perfect, but still ok which was a perdana and wira. but the worst experience in the history of cars was my waja. eversince then, ive been jdm all the way.

the fact that you think you succeed in life because you spent so much on a piece of metal is what is wrong with this country. all those cities get their cars cheap so makes sense la they buy other cars. just because you see ang moh buy somethings you want to follow them? i know a lot of japanese expats who are working in malaysia and driving local cars. why do they drive local cars? because paying so much for something they know as "cheap" is an embarrassment.

you drive expensive car, you are only a jaguh kampung. nobody is going to high five you and no girls are going to start stripping and rubbing themselves at the traffic light when you drive by.

It's proton waja and proton perdana, still in production ain't these 2 even though more than 10yo? Hmmm LoL. So I assume you admitted that new wajas and perdanas are pieces of shiites too LoL?

Thank god I traded it off for Japanese cars, so so much more reliable and cheaper maintenance cost vs. proton lar.. Back then almost every 2-3months masuk service centre. After Switching to Japanese cars, maintenance cost were slightly lower.. Dun try to deny the fact bro, I'm talking through experiences here. I really loose hope already in proton. Unless proton give me a free 12-months trial on their new proton Preve, then I might be able to comment on what the new model feels like.

Well, i admit that vehicle prices depreciates lah. The fact is our climate doesn't allow vehicles to be kept more than 10years,it gets rusty. Not like in aust n nz, my mates kept their 20-25yo Mitsubishi and land rover lah..

No doubt, my japanese surgeon neighbour drives a proton saga and wear freaking cheap discounted local designer wears, thing is these expats are just gonna be temporarily in marehsia lah.. I.e. The moment he hits xxx hrs of surgery here, he'll definitely move to mayo clinics research unit in Florida, marehsians are just cheap guinea pigs for researches anyway..

Driving cheap secondhand jap cars would be practical to reduce # time and $$$ wasted in proton service centres, if you choose to live in marehsia that is...

In the long run, it saves you $$$ to buy that little luxuries/holiday packages..

So think about it :

local marques + Numerous service centres visits (avg 2-3 hrs each visit that costs rm150-1,500 each)

Or

Cheap 2nd hand jap marques / crappy dugongs + holiday packages (amount of $$$ saved from NOT visiting service centres & other minor problems fixes and replacements)

Anyway, I onli spent additional 20% vs. local marques for extra comfort, so I dun think it's a Jaguh kampung mentality, it's more to fulfilling one's contentment. Get it? Well, not like those songlap kings and multimillionaires, our prudent incomes dun buy us APs Or run taxes. If u could afford a multimillion dollars vehicle, why would you pay tax at all?! Lol

Think Again bro, think Practicality!

the japs i'm talking about are thinking of retiring already. they are "settled" in they said and tied to their companies as permanent employees. they are still driving local cars and are planning to keep it that way. up to your neighbour's liking but if he were to stay here, you wouldn't know whether he'd get rid of that saga or not.

i don't know what to say about the rest, because if anything, i'm saving a tonne of money compared to my other mates who are driving foreign cars just from the monthly installments alone. a lot.

about contentment, fine, you are content of getting more comfort, but other people have contentment from saving money and branding them failures just because they bought a proton is just childish. considering you bought 2 protons in the past makes you a double failure?

about the AP and all that nonsense make sure you vote next GE.

That is exactly what I'm pointing out my friend - saving money

Bought 2 protons and lost tonnes of monies in services and repair jobs, now that I dun own any of those rubbish, it saves me a lot and in fact, I do consider those my failure to overlook the "hidden costs" of owning protons!

And I dun brand them, it's just that my perception tells me so, and it'll be good to psychologically share with others what I've perceived that my statement were true and gets people's agreement yes? It's the failure of overlooking hidden costs that Im highlighting here, since you've raised this.

Vote or not, those are my rights, you have no right to dictate me nor order me who and when to vote even if there's a penalty to vote, I may or may not choose to pay, it's my right.

you were complaining about our prudent incomes and the songlap kings so i'm just asking you to vote as a solution. doh.gif no need to turn it into an emo "don't tell me what to do" rant.

if i have no right to ask/tell you to vote then you have no right to tell local car owners to buy foreign cars.
