The Dopod 818 Pro (better known as the HTC Prophet) has officially been released. It includes a TI OMAP 850 200MHz CPU, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, IrDA, an SDIO/SD/MMC slot, a 2.8" QVGA (240 x 320) TFT-LCD, a 2.0-megapixel camera, and Windows Mobile 5.0. It's small, measuring in at 108mm x 58mm x 18.2mm, and weighing in at just 150g. Available in five colours - silver (shown above), black, blue, lavender, and pink (shown below), the Dopod 818 Pro is now available through select distributors and resellers at an RRP of RM2400.

Undeniably, this device has a lot going for it, though some of you might grimace at the choice of CPU (OMAP fans, don't flame me - I know the CPU still works well - most of the time, anyway).

Edit: Here i shall list a summary of the s/wares i use (which so far did not invite any s/ware conflicts), hope it is of some good..

1) "Omega Battery Pack Pro" (a recommended WM5 stable & comprehensive Today plugin)

2) For avid E-Bookers, try "Mobireader". (convert your pdf e books to txt format & read away...for all those unauspicious times that forces you to pluck your eyes off the E book for a bit, the bookmark function is easy and quick to use)

3) "Mortplayer" (a very decent music player, dare i say)

4) "Betaplayer" (i dare say...a sweet *.avi movie player) P/S: Do reencode your movie files to 320x240 using a software called "AutoGK" for 99% smooth movie rendering.
I also have "Pocket TV Pro" for *.mpg playback but it is unstable for WM5 IMO.

5) For those unfortunate individuals who need to wake up dead early in the morning for whatever (hint: WORK), give "AlarmClock 4.1" a try. So dam much better than the native alarm clock, which initially conflicted with the Omega Battery Pack alarm function. Am now using AlarmClock faithfully.

6) "DictionaryToGo" (you know whats that for...right?)

7) For normal PDF reading, i employ "Adobe Reader 2.0 for Pocket PC".

8) "World Mate Pro", dont find myself using it atm bcz rarely travel overseas but do use it to check foreign country timezones.

My missus just gotten the silver version and in the middle of mucking with it now while my black should arrive in a couple days.

How much did u get it for???

Black & Silver...perfect combination..made in heaven

Am using silver. Heard paint on the Black will scrape off easily especially near the stylus silo but if its wrapped...i think its perfect. Hoorah!

today is the 2nd weeks bday of me using 818 pro

here's my software list in my 818pro

1. dictionary to go
2. pocket islam
3. agile messenger (msn, YM, AOL)
4. airscanner antivirus
5. resco audio recoderder (to record sounds lah)
6. metro (provide journey information on major big towns in the world ie: how to go from klang to klcc ..and metro will suggest how to go and what transportation available and times taken to get to each places)
6. pocket music (cool mp3, ogg bla bla bla player - looks like winamp and give better sounds quality than windows media player 10)
7. resco explorer (file manager, network browser, registry edit)
8. tcpmp (divx player)

I want to remove Voice Commander from my device.. is it ok?

p/s : i think better change CLUB to something else lah ... like 818pro Triad kee .. Dopod 818pro Clan kee ... Club sounds very official and sooo last decade term ... just my suku sen opinion .. BOOHAHAHAHA!!!!

About the same price also lar.. my wife's is bought locally here in taiwan (only have chinese version here that I tak paham) for about RM2.4K also. Mine is tumpang forumer to tar pau from KL. Price is no biggie but need it in a hurry.

That's why today bought 2 condoms for it. White for my wife's silver and black for mine.

By the way...WM5 can run what type of softwares? noobie here...symbian ones can run or not?

many shops selling dopod 818 pro for RM2588 with 512mb and screen protector. Got mine with 1GB for RM2620.

yesterday was using Opera Browser 8.5 beta to post here, after 3 posts it then suddenly dissapear from my screen. Try to launch Opera again but nothing happens, had to soft reset then only can use Opera again (?)

Any software to block/blacklist incoming calls?

Maybe i'm going to use this now using HP6365 guys can u post pictures from 2 megapixel camera really like to see it

Guys, they say if use silicon case after some time it'll cause the Dopod's surface to be sticky....is that true?

I've wrapped the Dopod but want more protection....hehe.

I'M Not even using the original Silicone by Martin Fields. Just a ciplak RM40 one and I've never encountered a sticky surface. Just that dust can collect in between so cleaning periodically is a must.

Bought a O2 mini silicon case for RM25 yesterday at OS Cellular. Its the "almost" clear type. Wanted to get capdase silicone with plastic cover but the nice guy said its not fitting. After putting in my cheap silicone case, noted reset button wrong side and stylus opening needs to be longer.

guys, have u ever tried using ur Dopod to multitask? say like open wifi+BT+ other program. thanks
