Depends on your budget and how well you could utilize the touch function. A basic pen version will cost you M$300, while a pen and touch will set you up for M$420.

If you've got another hundred to burn, having an extra touch input could be advantageous and a great investment for people like you, especially given how long Wacoms can last.

personally i think touch function is useless.... epsecially a old desktop user like me, pen and some express keys is good enough, most importantly is the pen pressure level need wider range hehe

actually i found here and he sell quite cheap [link]
hmm. i see your point.

unlike the previous bamboo generation ( the red and black one ) the pressure for pen and pen and touch is different. however this time around ( green and black one )

after i look at the site, both pen pressure are the same. this is why got me doubting xD

I've used the bamboo G3 for more than a week now and i can say that the touch function is basically useless. Spend the extra hundred on extra nibs. XD

What. How much would a single pen nib cost?

Also, how practical is it to upgrade from a Bamboo to an Intuos?

The nibs cost 59bucks + 8bucks postage from my best dealer. Others selling a whooping 95bucks for 5 pieces of plastic.

Well. I draw regularly and I can say that the bamboo is quite good. Honestly I don't really use an intuos before but from what I've heard, the scrolling wheel and extra sensitivity really justifies it's cost. For me, it's still expensive.

wow got a tablet discussion goin on here

love how this is absolutely relevant to my current interest.

I also got inspired and wanna start digital painting, think to step up and drop off the old things.

I finally came into conclusion that Im goin to get the latest generation bamboo pen, simply because Im a beginner, and also yes Ive discussed with an owner of pen and touch,he said that the touch function is rarely used.

cant wait for my digital painting adventure!(that is a long time to go)
