LOL now I wonder what will happen if I drop more of my commission sketches here. At least 75% are m/m themed, haha.

@sakuradesune

LOL well unfortunately a good chuck of my work is under sort of a non-disclosure agreement, being covers for yet-to-be-published novels and magazines. sweat.gif Only can share my finished pieces, like the cover art for Impulse trilogy:

(M/M art beneath spoiler. If you don't like? Then don't open and don't be disrespectful)

if they are not showing excessive gayness or full nudity, in my opinion, it is still okay to post them here.

... I would really like to see your definition of excessive gayness. Really.

Obviously, I won't post p0rn, but yeah, do define "excessive".

not sure where else to ask this, kinda embarrassing since I have never done work relating to money. Theoretically speaking, how would one scout for freelance/part time job as a concept artist? I notice the companies in malaysia its not that easy nor that many to land on in that field of work. I'm still studying and there comes a time where I need to start earning my own money, figure I start out with commission but its a slow process getting in people who would even be interested to offer one.

Very nice work! Even if "unfinished", there's still a strong level of polish! Good job!

re: commissions, follow missingNo's advice on exposing your stuff on art communities. The fanart community on deviantART especially is a really big market that you can tap into. That's where my initial freelance work comes from, and I still get most of my clients through dA.

Yep, get a good portfolio, and start taking small jobs, particularly in illustration if you are looking keep a steady stream of income through freelance work. Illustration is something that always generates money, if you know where to start off. Writers are almost always looking for art to visually bring their story to life, and the changeable nature of fiction often means that there's plenty of variety to challenge your skills.

What I did initially was do some pro bono work for writers of fanfiction that I really liked, by directly contacting them and offering to illustrate scenes and/or characters for free. This gives you access to their reader base, widening the audience that sees your work. Writers tend to have fellow writer friends; some of these friends may decide to approach you and officially commission you to create art for them smile.gif Keep a professional, top-quality attitude, and word-of-mouth will do the work for you wink.gif

Thanks for the helpful tips biggrin.gif btw I'm sorta curious on how long it took you to get to where you are now? in terms of having regular commissions.

Had finished my first commission in September 2010, so that would be a little over two and a half years now since I started accepting commissions. smile.gif

(Geeze, my art then and my art now is so very different, and I used to colour with a mouse back then XD Time flies...)

Contradiction, yo, and I do personally know gay artists who draw yuri, so your argument is moot.

Sorry, friends, for hijacking this thread and going off topic for a while, but I need to address this.

QUOTE(elcieloultima @ May 11 2013, 04:32 PM)
i hate gays but i love lesbo.
what am i?

its a matter of personal preference i guess ;-)

doh.gif

See, here's the thing.

You dislike gay men, but you like lesbians because OH LESBIANS HAWT (judging by the images you post).

Get what I mean? You only like lesbians because they are "sexy". That, my friend, is called OBJECTIFICATION. You like lesbians because they are sexy, because you find the idea of two hot women getting it on sexy. You are not looking and/or caring about at the social and cultural issues that are attached with being non-heteronormative.

Hating gay men =/= not wanting to know the details of how a gay men's sex life is like. The former is homophobia. The latter is just like how most people do not really want to see their own parents having sex; it's a personal space/privacy thing, which is legit.

Posting things like "EW GAY KILL IT WITH FIRE" and "BEAT HIS MOM KILL HIS DAD" (seriously?! shakehead.gif do you even realise what you're saying here? You're condoning assault and murder) is NOT FUNNY. You think it's funny, but if you have to deal with a friend who was beaten up so badly that he is now BRAIN DEAD because some idiots hate his perceived sexual orientation, you may think differently.

Take a long hard look at what you are saying, buddy, and tell me if it's actually a fair thing to say.

You want to talk about this further, feel free to PM me. But I'm ending my discussion in this thread here.

=======

Back on topic, I've been asked to paint a set of triplets (two boys, one girl).

Hopefully by using the same base shape I can keep the family resemblance.
