Yeah maybe I was being a little overboard there, that's right, for a start, don't exactly copy, just refer your favorite author or illustrator and move on from there.

Personally, for tutorials, I dont exactly follow it, only observing the process, and then apply it on my own.

Even seeing an expert's screenshot of something they are working on helps me in a way.
