Hi everyone,i'm new to the forum and just got my Forte 1.6 EX Clear White and has just sent the car for first service smile.gif I have a few question:

1. The car steering feel solid when i'm driving in the city 80-90km/h..but i noticed whenever i'm on highway going over 110km/h the steering feel very loose.

2. I plan to change the stock 16" rim to 17" rim later. Will there be any difference to my FC or handling?

3. What can i do to improve my overall experience with the car?

Thanks everyone.

1. it happened to me before; i just got my car last june. some says it can be resolved by doing high speed balancing. however mine still vibrate while driving around 110km/h. i then conclude that it either cause by tires or my sport rims which i bought replacing the stock rims. later ended up with new tires + sport rim center cone...

i suggest, do high speed balancing 1st if u use stock rims. if u change to sport rims, make sure u use center cone which will reduce/stop the wheel vibration before decided to change the tires..

2. dunno. depend on the rim weight

3. a lot of stuff can be modded hmm.gif
*
1.Thanks,i'm a bit worried about issue no.1 since i feel that the car is really unstable during high speed with the loose steering feeling. Am gonna take the car to a tyre shop tomorrow and have them do the alignment+balancing and see whether the issue is resolved biggrin.gif

2. I see, thanks for the info. Will make sure to ask the shop about the rim weight before buying.

3. What can i mod to improve FC? Right now i just plan to soundproof the whole car and look for carbon fiber hood.

Something for fun:

1.6 EX/SX 6 speed owners:

39 Clear White
17 Titanium Silver
6 Bright Silver
4 Metal Bronze
2 Black

I am surprised black has only 2 owners and no one owned the spicy red?
*
I had actually wanted the titanium silver, but for that colour it has a long waiting period. That's why i got my clear white,i think it looks bigger and i got it in only 4 days icon_rolleyes.gif

the car is 2010 launched right? i'm still having doubts should i place my bets on forte since its already 2years old? its RM97k not just rm97.. especially to all those who has just gotten the new 'baby' recently, do you guys have that feeling "Aiyah, should have waitted abit more, theres K3 coming out.."  sweat.gif
*
No la,the K3 imho has lost its 'macho' factor..it looks more or less like the elantra now, with too many curves. Personally i had wanted to get the city, but then one day a colleague of mine came to work with a new clear white forte 1.6sx, and i fell in love instantly with the look.

Seriously, get the forte, install the body kit,and people will envy you thumbup.gif

Same reason as me  whistling.gif Now I a bit regret because I wash my car every 2 days - myself  rclxub.gif Every 2 days got 1 hour workout early in the morning just before heading out to work.

True, clear white very hard to maintain..i have to wash my car every 2-3 days also..especially since it rains a lot nowadays, always get mud all over the car..but then i think it's worth it since it looks big and very macho.

The only thing that annoys me though is that even a little sand in the car makes it look dirty shakehead.gif ..i have to vacuum the car frequently and remind people to wipe the shoes before entering tongue.gif

1. Someone needs to update the maintenance schedule. 1k service costs me RM280..

2. Where is the best SC in Kedah/Penang mainland? I went to Sg Petani SC and i'm pretty sure i'm not returning there..the service was good, only 40 minutes to service my car,but the waiting room smells bad and looks moldy, and there's many staff sleeping in the waiting room during breaks (i guess it was fasting month then,so no use blaming them as well).

3. Looking for tips to improve FC. My FC is 9.7l/100km now,is this normal?

K3 launching in late 2012/early 2013. Gonna take at least a year to come here. And you think the price is gonna be the same? Take a look at elantra, how long it was delayed because of pricing issue. You wait till K3 launched, 1 year later they announce a new model.

Its a neverending cycle. Just buy what you like.  smile.gif

Yeah,i agree. When i was surveying for a new car (before i settled for the Forte) i actually wanted a Mazda 3..early last year it costs 92k if i'm not mistaken. About a month back,a cousin of mine asked about the Mazda 3,so i called the showroom and to my surprise, the car costs over 100k now..

Most likely when the K3 comes the price will be different than the Forte 6 speed..in the end though,i agree: JUST BUY WHAT YOU LIKE thumbup.gif

any recommendations for tinting my bronze metallic forte? budget about 800. if can get lower even better.

not looking for super dark or heat resistance. more for the look and safety. either jpj compliant or samans covered. and gps/smartag no prob.

thanks!

I did mine with full AirCool tinting front/back/side and it costs me RM550. I did ask about other packages, best quality Aircool full tinting costs RM1480.

Selected the cheaper package since i could probably use that money for better stuff rclxms.gif

No such thing as Oil Treatment for standard Forte service at NazaKia SC. It's an optional item offered by that SC (extra sale = extra income). U have all your right to reject it. Already use fully synthetic engine oil maa, so no need to put in oil treatment. Usually we put in oil treatment when we use mineral engine oil. Save your money next time bro. By the way..oil filter price should be around RM16.xx if i'm not mistaken (just did my 60k km service last weekend)

What!! 30k km service = RM1270+??? What in the world that SC put in our car to justify that price? For 30k km service, the price should be around RM53x (NazaKia already increased the price of Syntium 3000 FS engine oil by around RM11). RM1270 for 30k km service is way too much...
*
I see, never knew this before since this was my first service. Confirm will avoid that SC later, will try to go to other places. Thanks buddy thumbup.gif

Good to hear that. Try to drive on highway and check the left pull.

Try not to drive on bumping roads or you will have rattling problem.

I am sure everyone has these 2 problems.
WHO NEVER ENCOUNTERED BOTH PROBLEMS ??? Tell me  laugh.gif
*
Never have rattling problem until now..but i did experience the left pull. Sent the car to a local tyre shop and what they did was swap the front-left tyre to the front-right,and the front-right to the back-right..corrected the problem immediately for only RM8 thumbup.gif

Bad news. Went to Penang and on my way there a stupid lorry sprayed small stones all over my whitey..now got paint chips and some dents on the hood..=(

Does anyone knows how much it costs to paint over the paint chips? I'm so sad, considering the car is just a month old..=(

Sorry to hear that. I can understand your feeling when my 1 month Forte scratched by truck and later I accidentally get it scratched by myself.

I think they will not paint part of your hood only but they will advice paint the whole hood. Maybe you can consider send to coating shop and apply coating since your is white color car.

Added on September 16, 2012, 8:04 am

Yeah lah.. Dont simply ask them to fix dashboard rattling sound. Unless it is really terrible and you cannot take it. Sometimes, it make the problem even worst.
*
I think so too..today i also noticed that there's a noticeable dent and paint chip near the driver's door too..as well as the headlight have some calar here and there.

Gonna try to buy touch up paint first and see..so rugi if have to paint the whole hood, but if touch up paint doesn't work,i'm just gonna repaint the whole hood, ketuk the door and paint that too. There goes my money, can see it flying away already. cry.gif

Sorry to hear that... How it happened? You follow the lorry too close. is it?
*
Nope..i was on a convoy with my friends and we decided to drive no more than 100km/j (since some of my friends are driving smaller cars) when suddenly a lorry overtook me near a few km from Sg Dua toll..thank God i braked when i realized what happened,if not i'm sure it could be worse. One of my friend who drove a Mazda 3 in front of me got a cracked windshield, cost him rm250 at Dr.Cermin to glue the crack.

We all sumpah that lorry driver, haha.

I read somewhere that we can modify the boot of our car so that when we open it using remote the boot will be fully lifted. Can anyone tell me how to do it? Can't find the original link.

P/S: I'm looking for stock 17" forte rims. Anyone want to sell theirs?
