since the last 'scheduled maintenance', D3 has been unplayable with ping rate as high as 1.5k ms. im getting constant 900+ ms. I've never experience connection this bad prior. only time d3 is playable is during midnite 1am-7am. pls tell me im not the only one.

i believe it's the unifi end problem. atleast i thought it was pc performance matter(hardware lag) but then i fired up my bro's desktop capable of running SC II ultra but to no avail. then it seems like most of the people who got affected is using the unifi line ie; maxis and unifi fellas.

btw guys, using streamyx 1mb here, wireless, usually i wont hit above 400ms if there is no one streaming at home, when i hit above that confirm got ppl at home, sometimes hit 3k+ ms, so do check out ur house if ppl are streaming or whateva, even if they use ipad or whatever that shares the wifi, ask them to tapao coz u will suffer, also, just go load google or whatever shit, facebook, cases like map doesnt load, you will take at least 3mins to load a facebook page, sometimes 404, that 1 confirm ur line got problem.

Having the same issue here. Previously I normally play with a green bar, nowadays, it's yellow majority of the time with the occassional green and red bar. Maxis wired broadband user here.

Lag spiking like crazy for me. Thats why I haven't logged into D3 for a while. Can't HC like this. GARH!!!!

Yup. At first I thought it was unifi that was being weird but I have decent connection everywhere else.

I was lagging on unifi 5 also. then i keep restart my router till get a change of ip. Now green all the way. I dare not restart already later same problem come. 250ms

80% of the time its 2 orange bars and 1 red bar...ping ranges 800~1K also

i'm using unifi vip5, last saturday i'm playing A4 inferno on the way to izual & diablo and the line is also lagged like "inferno"

i checked my modem router and found my ip range is 175.xxx. i recalled there are forumers shared on unifi ip range before - lagged when playing D3 . i disconnected and reconnected the line and i get ip range 210.xxx.
guess what? when i re-login to D3, i manage to get green bar 300ms+ and i had beaten inferno izual & diablo after that
i haven't shutdown my modem till now.

if u r using unifi and u had same prob, maybe u can check ur ip range and try to reconnect until u get 210.xxx, it worked for me

I could scrap through nightmare mode with nonsense lag but even when vs Belial, I had to wait till my latency is back to green bar before I can hit properly. I tried, lag time, that short moment is enough for you to die due to his poison bomb. green bar, easy 1 time I pass already.

since olympic started my housemates streaming till mother also can't recognize, and hence yellow / red ping all the time.

but last night my dota 2 was quite good, around 100ms ping constantly..

dey, b4 this latest 'scheduled maintenance', my whole house activity can include online poker, pps streaming, youtube streaming, and i still get no lag when playing D3. thats what the 10mbps fibre optic cables are for.... when D3 lags like this, it's definitely the server side problem. online game data transfers are usually VERY small only.... the map doesnt load isnt becos the line is slow, becos im sure the maps are PRELOADED every time when u create a game, just a matter of the 'discovery of darken areas' to reveal the map as u play. if it doesn't load, then it surely must be the data packet transfers time out becos dunno unifi use which 'shortcut' to route to the us servers, OR something on the server side that is causing this.

weirdly, the lag always magically disappears after midnite. last nite, i had to wait till 3am only get smooth playability.... bare in mind that i did not need to restart router to clear the lag....i just log out and log in of D3 every 30 mins to try.....

got a possiblility that that period is off period, hard to say yo

but previously, there wasn't any lag and ANY point of time

800-900 ms is alright if stable. But if like mine, from 250 go up to 1000 then drop to 500 then up back to 1000, rinse & repeat, its impossible to play. I'm quite tired of it already.

its possible for isp's to throttle bandwidth for specific internet activity like bittorrent downloading. in the UK many roviders throttle bandwitdth for torrents until 12am until 6am during which time it is not throttled. Is it possible that this is happening here with gaming connections as the past 4 days its always red bar and completely unplayable?

pingtest.net and speed test show my connection is relatively godlike (20down, 16up, no packet loss)

My fren's monk HC lvl5x almost went down due to lag storm. Fortunately he was with me and I could cover him. And me being underleveled in a place that I could easily die, lolx. Mind you it's in the middle of a monster fest!

I was on ip range 210.x.x.x and it is stable. YTD was tanking diablo inferno and suddently a lagstorm strike the bar goes red I was WAFAK stage 3 down to 20% life some more, quickly run away My friend was not so lucky he get caught by the jail and gg.com. Thankfully he got revived and we manage to finish the kill.

well some1 did mentioned about the IP thingy and i think that works...
previously i was on 175.xx.xx.xx ip and it sux badly...keep yellow n red...

then i restarted the router and got 219.xx.xx.xx...green line all da way
main point is....don't use line with IP 175.xx.xx.xx for d3 for now...

but I'm connected to their "better loot" server if its any true LOL.

A little information for you, 300+ ping is consider smooth in Malaysia, or at least for me, as I always play with 250~350 ping since I bought this game. So ignore the analysis comment, as it seems that any ping higher than 200 is being deem as slow.

I don't know much about technical stuff, thus from what I can understand from the information, my trace is smooth (250~350 ping) until I enter D3 server.

So, does this proof that the last maintenance has indeed mess something up? Or perhaps you can provide me with other explanation, because as I said before, I have no idea about this technology thingy, just a regular person who love playing game^^.

I would actually have to agree with the trace analysis and say that your pings are high, given that they could fluctuate higher or lower that's probably causing spikes. as you can see still within your ISP's network (10.55.192.49) your pings sky rocket. My packets do not take the same rout as yours and my pings to the server are VERY good. i will show you my results and as you can see, my results give me a nice low latency experience, at least as of the past few weeks.

10.55.192.49 is not an external address, its with in a local network, I would inquire with your ISP, and if its not part of their network they may be able to investigate with who ever they are leasing the network from.

I would have to say your ISP is to blame for your issues. the fact that its worse for the US server is because your Local pings (with in your ISP's network) are high to start with and then it is aggravated with the high pings that your packets see since they have to travel to the us which is a further distance then the local D3 servers.

Who is your ISP? maybe all the users who are posting here share a common ISP or ISP's that use the same backbones and networks.

Granted the AT&T server that D3 resides on is the slowest point in this chain for me by far.

Remember once you hit a slow hop, it will effect every hop behind it, traffic both to and from.

YES exactly....... so bloody weird...... anyways from that Bnet forum, seems like Blizzard do admit that the lag could be from their side, and not tmnet routing issues.

D3 does use some different technology from SC2 but we are beginning to align the two as best as we can. We are having the preload for MoP which could be slowing things down a bit. It is possible that the overhead is making it so that things are slowed down, but the latency numbers you are getting are exceptionally high. I poked through that forum thread and I'm not sure if I missed it but I didn't see you post any diagnostic files. If you would like, you can send them over and I will take a look, I may be able to find something that would speed things up. Please see below, thank you! (The below information is for SC2 but it's the same info).

No my dear. Preload means that people are downloading MoP before launch. He's worried that part of BNet's bandwidth is being taken up by those downloads. I doubt that is the real reason tho.
