You can have all his details (IC, Photograph and what not), but as with the PE case before, it didn't do much. The police did finally catch up with him either way.
To the person who suggested the IC/Bank cross reference thing, just take a look at the number of transactions being conducted daily in the trade zone. Even with 20 dedicated mods, having to check each and every persons particulars is just going to be a full time job. We are not a business entity or a paid service to be able to provide that kind of luxury. Even paid auction sites like lelong and ebay are not excempted from cheats and conman. If this thread had been around for a short while longer, or even if it was opened not during the CNY holidays, then either the moderating team or someone would have spotted the con outright. The simple fact that the thread was opened and money was transferred within two days just shows how naive some of the members are. We've given out sufficient warning, we can't do more. There is always a catch when something is cheap. Nobody is dumb enough to sell things so cheap when he knows he can easily get a higher profit on it. And free DHL posting, now if that didn't wake you guys up, nothing will. You guys do however have his Name, Account Number and maybe a few other details. Spread it around and hopefully someone somewhere has some details about it. Making a police report will help, it might sound silly buy the police sometimes do their work. A proper police report with his name and details would make him a wanted person, and he will definately find it a lot harder to move around and do any further damage. To the rest, the difference between this forum and other dedicated auction sites is that we allow you to comment and discuss about the sale out in the open. There is no such thing as "please don't disturb my sale if you don't want to buy" crap here. If you see a sale that you suspect is possible fraud, please point it out so that other potential victims become more aware of the sale. Rather then jumping about the euphoria just because something is being sold for a few hundred bucks under the market price. The logic is even if the seller got the items for free, he is still going to try to make the most profit he can get for it. |
