I guess a con case like this every now and then is necessary to serve as a reminder how easy it is to con over the net and get away with it. Consider yourself "lucky" that the amounts are rather small this time round as compared to the PE case.

Sorry to say, at this stage, no matter what you do, chances are recovering the amount is close to nil.

Lodging a police report now as a group is a good idea, but realistically, the impact will be little. Read up on the PE case and you will know what I mean.

You guys have got no choice but to take this as a lesson as I have once before.

Next time, to minimise the chance of getting conned, insist on COD or at least check for references before banking in.

If the Police station mail the lowyat.net admin, to ask for helps. Do mate think that is possible? However, please do not jump into conclusion too fast. Mate never PM(ed) the admins, how you know they do not care? On top of that, they might have reasons like, want a proof by you that... is it really a con case! Any police report backing up? They will not release any information of IP(privacy) simply just because of one PM(s) and yet no proof right?

By the way, if the person is clever, he will not use his own home PC too. There are many-many computers in any net-cafe.

Actually I a little takut if I cod with him in KL. Where got ppl sms and tell you his room number so you could go up to his room and let him rob you? It's just so strange lar. Normally ppl will cod at busy areas or at least places with people.
