For heavy applications such as gaming, larger ram makes more difference.
Safe to say that, in this situation... quantity wins. |

There's no point if you have 1GB of superfast memory with supertight timings if your applications uses more than 1GB of ram; causing your hard disk to swap disk.
You will encounter better experience with more ram in this case. It all depends on how much ram you're using in your daily applications and games. QUOTE(grafreak @ Feb 3 2006, 02:38 AM) |

What the timing for UCCC ? I got myself a pair today..but..seem my timing not very good. I already set 8-4-4-3.0 and 1T timing..the Row Cycle time ,Row Cycle Refresh time? Write to read delay time..put wat value is optimal for UCCC?

UCCC is normally designed for high speed with high latencies; at least from the sticks that I have. The best I can get is 3-4-4-8 @ 275Mhz. Not too bad for a 1GB stick module but my board dictates that it must run 2T.

Yeah it can get a bit hot especially if both of them are placed next to each other in your mobo. However, in my case, I am using a 12cm fan to blow at it directly and the placing is having a huge gap, so no temp issues. It is rock solid at 270-275mhz.

woot..
manage to revive my epox \o\ \o/ /o/ now blent test the rams at 260 ... i guess its my psu is the culprit, having weak 3.3v rails [fluctuate like hell] my epox is using 5v rails for ram, so currently doing good ----------------------- its weird, my epox cant memtest error free like my neo2 in dos at 260. but, my epox can prime in windows at 270 while my neo2 fails even at 255 for now, to hell goes with memtest, as long its prime/superpi stable, im fine with it lookin good blend while irc'ing n downloading n surfing This post has been edited by e-jump: Mar 19 2006, 01:49 AM |

look like this chip can push very high speed with very loose timing..
so can anyone tell me what is more importance..high speed with loose timing or moderate speed with moderate timing? |

What is your cpu? What is the multiplier you set when you set your RAM to that timing? It's better to list your hardware spec here to enable others to better help you.

@uglyvamp
Nice clocks there, seldom see a UCCC hitting DDR500 @ 2.5-3-3-7 @sniper69 I thought you wanted to get performance RAMs? What timings did you use when you got stuck at DDR480? Most UCCC will top out around DDR480 @ 2.5-3-3-7, but for 3-4-4-8 it's a different story ... DDR550 This post has been edited by Dreamworks: May 7 2006, 09:16 PM |

I need some help here regarding a new RAM tat i get to fit in my DFI Nforce 4 Ultra D.
My ram is exactly the same as the pic in the first post, the only different it is APACER brand. Ram details : APACER 1GB PC3200 CL3 double sided (with Samsung K4H510838C chip on it) My present computer already got Corsair 2x512MB PC3200 CL2.5 RAM. But when i plug in this single stick on my board it seems cant boot. I already tried put this APACER ram on board stand alone on every slot ( means i took all both of my Corsair ram) but it still cant boot up. And i tried it too put it in any of the ram slot while both of my corsair ram is already plug in too. 3rd test, i tried it with slot 1 512MB corsair n 3rd slot with 1GB apacer or even do it opposite way. but still cant boot up Both way also cant boot up, the question is is it bcos of dual channel matter? As i dont hv another 1 GB ram to test it. or is it bcos of APACER 1GB this ram is not compatible with DFI Nforce 4 Ultra D motherboard? Hope some sifu out there can help me. Thank you |

QUOTE(Fluxs @ Jun 30 2006, 08:30 PM) if u already tried only the apacer ram alone with bios set to default, n maybe manually set loose timing with higher voltage n still failed, off to RMA it goes (or try on someone else mobo before hand)This post has been edited by e-jump: Jul 2 2006, 10:04 AM |
