apa kaitan the pump with the puncture... maybe you haven't got the shard out completely before you replace the tube and pump it up?

unless it's a deep cut or a cut on the sidewall.. doubt you have to throw the tire away....

*
There's a small line hole.. can see thru if you fold it over.. feels scary

you all haven't wake up ma... that is why only 2 of us...
how small is small??? i lived with a sizeable slit around 2-3mm before on my rear detonators... noticeable if you forcefully flip it inside out...  i just took one of the tire boots from my birzman patch kit and stuck it inside covering the slit jus to be safe... and it ran for quite some time until the next couple of puncture luckily not over that area and all the way until the tire got worn down to it's kevlar layers...

it totally depends on you... if you feel that the peace of mind is important to you... then, it is money well spent... for me, worst case even if i forgot to bring a spare tube is to walk home from taman tun...

but frankly, every puncture will more or less create a small damage or hole on the tire... it is just a matter if you spotted it.. the only one that is not recommended to ignore is the sidewall damages... that has to be changed out as soon as possible...

here is what the tire boot looks like... not all patch kits are supplied with them...a thicker material and more tough to add another layer over the tire for temporary use...

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13249

in the case of birzman ones.. the boot is the bigger square piece with lotsa wordings...

that's weird.. I've done up to 70psi on my topeak hand pump before. (the words are so faded I can't tell which it is anymore, but its one of the rockets).

if u were with that same group that went the wrong way that I think you were, the last guy who decided to cycle all the way had done a total of 196km that day. and he was recovering from a hairline fracture on his ribs too.
*
hmm i am not that.. i tried a few pumps when i was having break with dave they all, i think it's around 50~60psi coz i still able to ride up klawang and go down hill around 60+kph without much problem. I just felt too worried that's it.

btw.. I got lost but only 20km extra, din do the whole thing as I have appointment at 5pm. Took taxi from klawang to Tekala, cost me Rm100 for that.

Hmm, looks like I am still not comfortable doing long distance, after 60km I felt like cannot cycle any more (partially reserving energy to do nuang the next day)

your mates must be wondering why you are getting frisky with their pumps  blink.gif

wow.. 100 bucks.. rather get my head bitten off by my wife...
*
RM100 is better than FFK appointment of 15 ppl, i scare kena chop by ppl haha!!
Nuang is that mountain at pangsung, slightly further from Batu 18, highest peak in Selangor. haha i spent my entire weekend in Hulu Langat

QUOTE(mrjgx @ Aug 1 2012, 11:50 PM)
dude..don't quickly jumpe and buy the fulcrum or whatever high end wheels available in the market. the difference is very marginal..

I agree if you would like to feel a difference in your bike upgrade, apart from a better carbon frame..wheels is the 2nd option. but trust me, it won't make you a better cyclist in terms of speed, or etc. you might gain extra 2-3kmh on your avg speed..but that's all.

as from my experience, i don't find my climbing ability suddenly increase after changing to a much stiffer wheels (from FR Comp to FR0)..nor did I found it easier to climb with.once you upgrade, it is very marginal in terms of performance you expected to have before you purchase.

just my 2 cents.
*
haha 2~ 3kph is actually a lot,
I would see that 2 ~ 3 kph comes from

your current avg speed - your new speed

25 - 28 = you can easily train this
27 - 30 = same goes here
30 - 33 = hmm sounds not bad
33 - 36 = it's almost time for a new tire
36 - 39 = looks like i really need a tire
39 - 42 = I bought my tire
42 - 45 = wow this tire is ****ing cheap
45 + = u dont need a tire..

lol above is just for trolling purposes..

Had a rest day today. My leg feel abit painful after my previous 2 day 10km-ish ride. Is that okay? Is it sign my body will adapt to the changes?
*
10km-ish? 30mins ride ?

that's a bit short to be able to feel anything.. numb is ok.. pain is abit.. hmm do you play other sport other than cycling?

never sit before aeroplane... online buy... count or not?

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/

frankly... buat susah la..  bringing back the bike will pose a problem.. might have to buy the expensive carry case there to transport the bike... then you end up with no more warranty when you bring it back...

save a couple hundred.. but risk losing a lot in the long term
*
i wanna ride it there la, dont feel like courier my bike over..

Do i need to stock myself gatorate or equivalent energy drink when ride for 1 hours non stop?
*
hehe, i think u should stop worrying and start cycling, worrying alone will get you nowhere, with cars or not you will still have to cycle. After all traffic condition in Aussie is much forgiving than Malaysia's. Australia is quite flat in comparison (depends which city you live in)

Did my first 20km today. Was riding well then suddenly my left leg cramp and i had to stop beside but then i lost my balance when stopping/unclip i fell down the wrong side, got stuck on the ground as all my muscle suddenly cramp and i cant move. Random ppl stop by to pull me up. nothing big deal apart from minor cut on my left elbow and muslce stiffen up and cramp.

Perhaps need some kind of warm up prior to riding?

Manged to get home safely tho biggrin.gif
*
I hvn't really experience close to cramp except the time when I cycle to PD, after the fell my muscle tense up it's hard for me to go beyond 25k/h after that..

hmm looks like a lot of conditioning work you need to do to increase your fitness

Well I'm cheapskate I guess haha

Berocca RM1.50 + water
Glucose 1 big can RM10 + water

cheaper than 2x power gel, RM12

Can i know is there any group of road cycling i can join?(newbie here)
heard that there is a group cycles from sri petaling to summit on tuesdays and fridays...
anyone from the group?
*
that sounds like my friend's group.. which i never join haha..
they in the tri community right?

btw dont really need a tri bike if you are just venturing into triathlon, road bikes are more fun, you can group ride with cyclist, slightly more agile and also easier on your back too

Offcourse the story of 9 / 10 speed is ultimately bound by your financial capability..

Don't go overburden yourself tho, getting a bike and start it without owning debts to ahlong is much more important..

Happy Monday blue...

yesterday joint my old man group riding up to Fraser hills from KKB stadium...

felt something totally different oppose from my 1st ride up Fraser hills mistakenly where im cycled from PJ.

VOSP (Very Old Strong Person). i would admit the old man gang are fast... with average of 50 years old above...

Going up, feel good... not much sweat as i'm took my own sweet time... maintaining at speed 17-19km/hr until Gap.

while last 8km going uphills, followed old man pace... sweat as lot although the weather is cool and chill! really nice enjoyable ride!

coming down, it's was so cool, lucky some trick learnt from old man, put newspaper behind jersey in front body as wind shield! it's work very well...
*
cant visualise how the newspaper trick.. mind elaborating?

Did 20km again today. My leg is so tired on hills area. Keep finding myself no streght to pedal when going up hills even with 25 cassate and compact crankshaft @@ Nearly stray out into random grass area when cornering when i enter the corner too fast.

Why my leg got burning sensation when going up hills? Build up of lactic acid?

I now realise cycling up hills is not easy as it seems  sad.gif my place got alot of hills of many gradients. Guess it will serve me as place to train up my stamina  rclxub.gif

Good luck and keep going =)
