HP890 has been discontinued long long time ago. Not everything money can buy, the rest, you've MasterCard.
Heck you can't even buy one 890 if you own 10 MasterCards. |

nope, it makes me feel insecure, the performers making noise beside you and the worst part is when they whisper beside your ears

QUOTE(lAh0S @ Feb 12 2007, 06:54 PM) 1 stupid question, can i expose any of the headphone under the sun? Har? 890's earpads are not replaceable? What should you do when they're worn off?I mean for long a long period of time, like lets say 1~2 hours. Because i sweat a lot when i'm on my headphone, and i scare the sponge thingy smelly, like my pillow. So i wish like i can settle in some old school way, like mom does everytime, take our pillow outside to let the sun 'burn' it or whatever, so that don't smell so bad. (but my pillow still smell very bad, for others la not me) So, can i? By the way headphones like yours and mine ain't designed to be used outdoors, especially under the hot sun. The plastic may change its characteristics and might become really fragile and breaks easily. You may try spraying the earpads with Febreeze etc |

what's your budget? RM300? And what's your favorite genre? Rock, classicals?
895 is really just a starter cans, it may sound very good to someone who never audition higher-end headphones. But honestly for a budget of RM300 i strongly recommend you the SR60 instead. It will definitely last for at least a year or more. Besides, the SR60 doesn't need an amp to drive (having one will be better). Well... unless you don't like Grado's retro design |

QUOTE(besaid @ Feb 13 2007, 02:25 PM) but what i am not so sure with grado is that is it not really full cap like 895???(i also not sure with what i am talking bout) All Grado and Alessandro headphones are "supra-aural", in which the earcups are large but they rest on your ears. Except for the top-of-the-line Grado GS1k though.HP895 is "circum-aural". It rest around your ears. Both the Grado and the HP895 are full-size headphones. |

depends on your music preference. Grado basically doesn't perform well for classicals. Sorry i can't comment on the Senns as i never auditioned any of them before.

QUOTE(besaid @ Feb 14 2007, 01:11 PM) ok...so,my only trouble is finding the models to test it out. board on Putra LRT and stop at the Ampang Park station. Walk up the escalator and you'll be directly in front of Ampang Park. Walk along the road against KLCC's direction and you'll come to a crossroad. Turn left a bit and you'll see a pedestrian bridge. Cross over it and you'll reach City Square. Go up a few escalators till 3rd floor and you'll see Music by Design; a small little shop at the corner. Music By design???where is it???and i heard that 890 cant be found.i read somewhere that even with 10 platinum card also cant get.mind to sell one of yours???where can i test those headphones???i stay in kl,go lowyat plaza frequently I personally auditioned the top-of-the-line Philips HP1000 before, and honestly i don't have good impression with it. To me the SR60 still wins a large margin, just losing for its narrow soundstage and its details. I never audition the 890 or 895, but i guess they should inherit Philip's sound signature like HP1000. Just go audition all the models in your list and pick one that suits you the most. This post has been edited by yrh0413: Feb 14 2007, 02:15 PM |
