do you turn the charger off immediately after it is fully charged? I've been thinking of using the 2A power output on my Yoobao power bank but I always read about people saying it will damage the battery doh.gif
*
Sometimes i leave it on for hours , never bother to take it off the plug even after fully charged
There are so many such rumours of batteries being damaged - believe it if you wish. I don't as all batteries has builtin circuitry of no overcharging allowed. i ahve yet to have a single battery spoilt and i have been practising these for past 3+ years after i got my ipad charger ( which i used to charge all my androids due to its higher 2.1A output). On the yoobao 11200mAh external pack, i always use the 2A port to charge
\Again this is my experience - you need not believe what i say. If you want to play safe, just DON'T DO IT

You just gave me some interesting project for next weekend tongue.gif

IMHO changing the folder name will cause some issue.Because I think the folder/files name are logged in some files inside 1 of the compressed files.Changing folder/file name might cause the CWN to assume some files as missing.

The md5 file should be inside the dated folder.I don't see any reason why it will be modified just by copying it.
Anyway next weekend I'll do full flashing (including formatting my internal memory & microSD) so I'll test this again.
But the last time I did this few months ago it worked.
*
I always rename by nandroid backups for easy identification
I have absolutely zero problems restoring
it will definitely not affect any restore
and I m a frequent flasher n restoring roms is usual practice of mine

Very new to android base. This is 5th day using S3. Therefore, dont really understand most of the terms.
*
In that case, familiar yourself first with the phone and basic knowledge of root, cwm and flashing. Read page 1 of this thread to know more about such stuffs
Tinkering this stuff of moving to ext sdcard is tricky and DO NOT jump into it without any basic understanding

Thanks Benny888.

May i know any different if i upgrade the firmware to LG1?? Any enhancement or new features?
*
Samsung never issue any changelog
However based on my experience, every rom upgrade do bring some improvements to the OS
If you are happy with your current OS, than stick with it
i do not upgrade anymore to stock roms, only use custom roms

QUOTE(sacremento @ Jul 31 2012, 08:06 PM)
hi guys, i'm actually in dilemma. I just bought my s3 few days ago and i'm already itching to do rooting and flashing. But part of me thinks that i'm too stupid that i might screw up the phone. In addition, i'm still an android virgin. This is actually my first smartphone. I've been using nokia 2xxx series(you know la, famously known as nokia torch  tongue.gif ) for 4 years.

My question is, how long did it take for you guys to do rooting and flashing for the first time? did you guys ever get scared?

P/S : need some morale boost here sweat.gif
*
Rooting process - it just take about 3 mins to get it done. Flashing roms 5-8 mins

Conditions you must have before attempting to root
- know how to read simple English
- phone at least 70% charge
- read the instructions
- read the instructions again

It is extremely easy ; easier than you think. After you have done it you will be asking why am i worried about it in the first place ?

you can even do it even at 20 %
the 70% is for assurance in case phone fail to reboot and goes into continual reboot process. better be safe at a higher charge than sorry later

Depend on the stock rom you wish to flash is it a wipe version or non wipe version
If you are not sure do a backup of your stuffs first

Still enjoying stock tongue.gif

Well you just do not know what you have missed by not so doing
Then later after you have done it, you will ask why i never did these earlier on
Anyway if you are happy now with status quo, stay happy than

How do i flash this I9300OXABLG8 firmware into samsung? and is this considered rooting?
*
You do NOT need root to flash this rom. Just use Odin in PC to do it
If you do not know what is root, google for " What is root in android" and you will have plenty links to explain
Rooting basically allow you admin rights so that you can access and edit/change system files and allows you to install apps that need root, do backup and restore etc etc

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Aug 1 2012, 02:35 AM)
the best video player for the samsung galaxy s3 with exynos cortex-a9  quad core cpu is....

mx player pro!

rated on a score from 1 to 10, 1 being worse, and 10 being best.

performance: 8
gui: 9
features: 8
codecs: 9
subtitle support: 9
performance is good but there is a little sluggishness a bit, but not enough to make it a pain watching. this is better than all the other alternative android video players i've seen. By the way this result is when streaming from my QNAP TS-659 Pro using Plex Media Server QPKG, via my linksys e4200 wireless N router, to my Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, via bubble upnp .....

gui is excellent, i have little to no complaints. the interface is easy to use, aesthetically pleasing and practical. it has toggable audio and subtitles. you can also switch between H/W or S/W quite easy as well.

lots of configurations in settings. for codec support i've thrown my usual media such as 1080p mkv dts media at it, and it works. however keep in mind dts audio doesn't work for the newer versions of this app  sweat.gif  i watch a lot of japanese anime, so subtitle support especially for ssa is important. it has good subtitle support  nod.gif
my mx player pro was crashing so i downgraded to "MX Player Pro v1.6f (NEON)" + "MX Player ARMv7+NEON Codec 1.6f". This particular version also has the dts audio codec before it got removed in the next version due to licensing issues

it's rock stable, and the most intentive 1080p bluray mkv video i got can play using the s/w fast mode in the player.
Source:
https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/features/changelog
oddly enough this version is better than the most latest. it's not just due to lack of dts, but that in the newer version i am crashing for some reason .... whereas this older version doesn't o.O;
PS: as mentioned above, you won't be able to get the MX Player Pro neon + codec 1.6f because it got removed due to licensing. but if you bought the app legit, then there otherways to get it without feeling guilty about how you got it  rolleyes.gif  cough cough...
*
I am using ver 1.6 j - do not faced any problems such as crashing. It works well too in my G Note, G nexus and Tab 7.7. I bought the pro version

Anyone using yoobao power bank? my battery starts facing problem after using it for a few times. when i plug yoobao in, or when i plug the wall charger in, my battery cannot charge and it gets extremely hot.
*
NEVER faced such issues using Yoobao 4800 n 11200 mAh units past 2 years. Your Yoobao is probably defective already if you got such issues. Hope you have got a original one as plenty fakes around
Buying Yoobao external chargers, one need to be extra careful as there are plenty fakes/imitations in the market. Do consult this website to identify the genuine from those imitation types: http://www.yoobao.com/news.asp?id=134

The one I got is originally sold by an admin in LYN. I noticed some in Lowyat selling with 12 months warranty and the price is like above rm200+

Others are selling way below, and with 6 months warranty. Some if not all, I believe are fakes. But by admin... is mine fake?

Just check yours against the Yoobao link i have posted - the physical outlook is enough to check
