im facing the same problem all of you are facing.did every bloody step that can be found on the net but to no prevail.lastly i think we can safely conclude that as of recently, ff has gone from the best to the shittiest browser man.even i.e does a better job.

im not sure whats happening at mozilla, they were the savior but now it seems they are lagging all over.flash issue, this that bla bla bli bli.i guess moving to chrome is another option to i.e and ff now....unless these things gets sorted. rclxub.gif

Which version of ff? Do you have a anti virus program in your pc? It could be searching for AV.

Probably your avast is slow in scanning the file. Firefox does not have a virus scanner so it will use your default AV. Anyway, how big is the file?

Regardless of the pc spec, i still think it should not take a long time to complete scan for less than 1mb file. Suggest disable the auto scanning download and use your avast to scan the file manually.

1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
3. Locate the preference browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone and double-click on it to change its value to false

Thanks! did change it to false too.

Wondering, when I search for the file, there are two similar files :

browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone
services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone

Is it okay if I change both to false?

Leave the services sync true. Do not modify it. That is the sync system stuff.

Try using flash version 14 else downgrade the version to stable version. And give this link a read too.
