Does anybody here own the VW Polo 1.2 TSI? If so am just wondering (Considering an upgrade from Proton-oh-proton);

1. What are the service intervals like? I understand continental cars do not require a service every 5k smile.gif Instead, it'd be like 10 - 15k intervals

2. What's the price of a typical service? Protons go from RM100 - RM200 at most. I'd suppose it'd be doubled up as and much as RM500 - RM700 per service?

3. Price of major service - Protons go from RM400 - RM700 afaik. Should I double this up as well?

4. My wife test drove the Polo 1.2 TSI the other day... salesguy told her it's 5 year warranty with unlimited mileage. And how come the price doesn't come with insurance? Pretty strange isn't it

Some feedback from any of the VW owners would be great smile.gif

1. 15k km intervals. Some will do 7.5k interim, cause don't "feel good" about the engine from 0km all the way to 15k km before service. Local/Jap cars will normally 1k, 5k, 10k/15k, etc. Imagine how many services already before hit 15k.

2. 15k about 400-600 (try extrapolate if 3x @5k service, total cost is how much ?)
30k about 600-800
45k about 800-1.2k
60k (major) about 1.2k-1.8k
+/- just rough estimate, can go higher/lower.

3. refer #2

4. That's how they market/promote it, without insurance OTR.

Also, be prepared if things/parts spoil, the cost can be 2x-5x more expensive. e.g. windscreen.

If not ready for such commitment/expenses, then stick to local/Jap/Korean cars.
So far, no under-the-tree type of mechanic/workshop also, and not recommended too. Therefore, for service price, you have to compare apple to apple. e.g. Toyota with Toyota SC, Honda with Honda SC, Proton with Proton SC (not outside shop/under the tree).

But for the joy of driving, you will fight to drive this small car with your wife in future... whistling.gif

hi all VW sifu, advise needed here on polo tsi. peugeot 308t/408t,ford focus sport+ and polo tsi r my top three preference.Personally i prefer peugeot.I have seen ppl comment about the faulty dsg gearbox, but i still see a lot vw on the road, how come?if it wasn't the polo gearbox problem,i would make polo tsi my 1st priority.any comment on getting polo tsi?cheers!

At his point, I choose the new Ford Focus also. Comes with a lot of features and bang for buck. Powerful torque also.
Cabin size is at least similiar like 308, golf. Polo is 1 size smaller than golf to me.
308T not yet launch latest model/facelift.

Lol, I in no way to start race with them n I speed coz im late for work. Tat was my initial intention but since they wanna slap their own face so be it. It didnt take long anyway. biggrin.gif

S mode for cruising is too much if u ask me, not much of comfort and the loud engine noise.

I usually take s mode when stuck in traffic jam..car feel much smoother that way n less judder.
*
Me too, I use S-mode in auto, only at Genting uphill stretch betwen Genting Sempah to hilltop only. Even at one section of the flat-road near Gohtong Jaya, I switch back to D. Rev too high and loud sound going at 90km/h.

I guess is different range/sub-class even within Golf model. For those who wants TSI or budget 150-160k
GTI is 200-220k
R is like 240-260k

Not the SE version. Mileage is about 35k km. Quite low. Will defo join the club. Need to learn abit more. Hehe

And yes, the power the seriously straight on. Managed to spin the tires just by coming out of a traffic light. Stark difference compared to my old 6 cylinders. LOL

I think you can send in to authorised SC to check. Another important one will be stock ECU. If mapped, any future warranty related to engine/gearbox maybe void. If not confident, send in 2x SC to confirm the ECU. Try ask for written report that ECU is not mapped or touched before.

Although it is GTI and 6-speed wet DSG, if one day the engine fails, and you need to claim warranty, SC says, "sorry, mapped ECU void warranty"

2012 manufactured car will be registered as 2012..no cheating on that... RV is based on year of manufactured
i think most are confuse especially with year end car... people usually refers to the car model year. EG: a 2013 model can be manufactured in 2012.

most manufacturer be it car or any other product starts production for next year model at end of the year at the factory so that they make it into the showroom b4 the new year start.

for this case, alot of the last year dec VW cars are actually 2013 model with minor improvement to the specs.
example 2013 jetta model have 3 aircon dial vs the 2012 model only 2 dial. but both can be manufactured in year 2012
*
VW models (i.e. new/facelift/whatever) are mid-year to mid-year. e.g 2013 model is from July-2012 until June-2013.

Cars are manufactured all year round. A car manufactured in Dec 2012, can be a 2013 model. But when it reach our shore, customs, and then get registered, it maybe Jan 2013 already.

Hence, this car is known as: Manufactured 2012, Registered 2013.

But if this car is stuck somewhere for long time, let's say Feb 2014 only customs release... then
Manufactured 2012, Registered 2014 - 2 years gone.

Hope the recall will extend to Malaysia and those within the range/batches will benefit from it.

What is Malaysian market share compare to other Asian countries? I'm sure China will be No. 1 and I assume we have more VW customer than Singapore... Perhaps?

2012 VW sold 13k cars

SG VW only 3,567 units.

Of course, may need to look at bigger picture, the overall VW car ownership over 10 years, maybe SG has more...
