Same dilemma here. Got huge discount for current GTI. I scare i regret after i see MK7 next year.
*
yeah discount is one thing but getting the old looking car really heart ache.
was considering a cheaper mk5 but when i went to see the cars.
aiyo interior so ugly compare to mk6.
coz for me even mk6 isn't space age looking enough for me since i am a civic fd owner.

QUOTE(Mavik @ Oct 12 2012, 12:20 AM)
Best to wait for the new Mk7 unless the discounts for the Mk6 is around 20-30 percent
*
30% i sure buy drool.gif

Same here. Currently drove Civic FD facelift too. Still love my Civic interior but fall in love with GTI power & handling after test drive them.

yeah same here.
i sold my fd.
felt its quality crap compared to JDM hondas i driven b4.

QUOTE(phas3r @ Oct 12 2012, 01:59 AM)
agree that MK5 interior looks dated. i think an RCD510 radio can do some wonders. anyways, dont let the outlook let u down, try to test drive first. many change their minds after test driving any vw brows.gif

does the RNS510 comes with Bluetooth module? how much does it cost now?

Added on October 14, 2012, 4:18 pmquestion to all the VW gurus, with the MKVII probably coming Q1 2014 (or late 2013?), is it worth it to get the MKVI with the current year end discount?

I feel the year end discount is not enough for an outgoing model actually...

but am in big dilemma between the year end Golf TSi and next years Ford Focus...

please advise...

how much you got offered for the TSI? hmm.gif

Pre-reg can be showroom car or demo car. Example, when Polo Sedan was launched few months back, they have more than 10 units driven accross the country for roadshow, this would be consider pre-reg car when VW sell it.
If go to take loan, bank will consider this as new car but with some mileage on it...
*
similar to recon cars, new but with mileage?

QUOTE(kevin23 @ Oct 16 2012, 12:12 PM)
Weird, i was told by many SA ,pre-reg is brand new cars which are registered upfront in order for them to meet the quota of that year. Thats why all pre-reg cars already come with number plates .

Basically i was told there are

Pre-reg cars
Demo car
Pre-owned cars
Showroom car

No, is the total cost you have to pay to settle the transaction.

Not include the cost of the kapchai.

e.g. If kapchai sell new = 5k

Shop boss will sell the transfered plate kapchai to other people for 4-4.5k

But you need to pay shop boss 1-1.2k to settle all the paperwork, transfer, etc.

QUOTE(Boy96 @ Oct 27 2012, 12:52 PM)
Hmm, the K5 has more horsepower on paper, passat accelerates faster?
*
horsepower has nothing to do with acceleration, torque does.

QUOTE(IluvProton @ Oct 27 2012, 03:03 PM)
didnt own both of the car but what i notice was

K5
- rear view camera accessorie shop can do this for RM100
- panamoric roof having a glass roof instead of metal just equals more weight = slow = poorer fc
- push start / keyless entry pointless
- full electronic seat with memory on driver side (passat also only driver side)
- full sport rim include spare wheel lugging around a full spare tyre and rim equals more weight = slow = poorer fc
- auto fold side mirror
- 10k interval service
Passat
- electronic hand brake good for ladies
- tyre pressure monitor sometimes do more harm than good
- driver assist (drowsiness alert)
- front parking sensor very useful
- cooling box moderate usefulness
- 15k interval service

Gotta say K5 accessory and Passat accessory is quite diff.

K5 = going on high tech
Passat - convienent usage

hmm.gif

jetta wif gti engine? brows.gif
would be like m3 version of a 3 series drool.gif

yeap k5 wanna be more bling while passat are more realistic usefulness.
though i think the jetta would be able to give k5 buyers a good headache too.

The cabin of the GLI features sport bucket seats with red stitching and a sport flat-bottom steering wheel with red stitching, the GLI logo and aluminum accents. The overall interior styling consistently follows the sporty exterior lines of the car and includes a soft-touch dashboard and other premium interior trimming that were stripped out of lesser Jetta models for cost reasons.

The GLI is available in cloth or V-Tex Leatherette and also features alloy pedals, shifter, dash and door trim. To increase versatility, the rear bench seatback is split 60/40 and folds.

While lesser Jettas make do with a simple twist-beam rear axle for the latest generation (previously, all Jettas had a fully independent suspension), the GLI benefits a four-link independent rear suspension with an upgraded anti-roll bar. This setup helps the GLI hug the corners like a GTI with a trunk and avoid the somewhat imprecise handling of normal Jettas.

The GLI also accelerates like a GTI thanks to a powertrain taken directly from Volkswagen's sporty hatchback. Underhood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft. of torque that mates to either a satisfying six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG twin-clutch automatic transmission. The DSG comes with steering wheel-mounted paddles for sequential-style shifting and rev-matched downshifts, and for the latest model year the transmission gains launch-control for speedy acceleration runs.

Equipped with the DSG, the GLI is rated at 24 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway, while opting for the row-your-own option will mean trading one city mpg for an extra one on the open freeway.

If jetta equip more accessory alike Passat. It will have better sales.

if got spec like that and cheaper than golf gti it would be a steal.
i didn't buy golf gti purely because lack of big boot and was looking at mercs/beemers but those over priced sweat.gif

my requirements quite fussy.
if i am going to spend 200k for the car it has to be able to do everything.
weekend rempit machine, weekday workhorse, have enough prestige for my position but not something over my MD, automatic (paddle shifters good plus point), not a problematic car which needs to always goto the workshop, must have a boot, high hp for highway cruising, high torque for in-city driving, not a petrol drinker, etc. laugh.gif sweat.gif
