yeah, i knew of the price hike. Thats my point, they increase the price to almost same as their own d-segment car. Well, heck, they can even comapre with their own c-segment(jetta) since they use the same engine to have a closer look. I knew abt the passat cc increase last time ard, but for this polo gti, its kinda irrelevant.
*
The Jetta is a cut down version, extremely low specs. The Polo GTI has a lot of extra items which is definitely worth it when it was priced at RM136k. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if a hatch back price is the same as the D-segment, they cater for different markets entirely.

Just sent my golf gti for it's 1st service at wearnes jalan sungai besi on wednesday before going back to my hometown. The service is quite good. It took them around 3-4 hours for the service, cost is rm603.80 n i got a free complimentary car wash. After the service my car feels a bit faster, the brake is more responsive and it got like a new car's leather smell again.

Anyway, I'm thinking to modify my exhaust n do a straight pipe. Is that gona void my warranty?
*
Yes warranty void especially for the engine.

Just be careful when looking at the Recon ones from the UK. Very easy to differentiate.

So just take note that from 2010 onwards, the Scirocco went an internal and engine change from the EA113 (same as the MkV and also the Golf R and Scricco R) to the EA888 engine which the GTI Mk6 uses.

Some people wouldn't mind the older EA113 engine because the recon cars are cheaper especially if they are already planning on modding the car such as changing the turbo to a KO4 turbo or an aftermarket turbo such as a Garret turbo or a Owens turbo, etc..etc..

i know the interior is the sucky mk5 golf looks.
but the mk5 has the engine thats very nice to mod  drool.gif
*
Nice to mod but also less power if compared to the newer EA888 engine. For example, a Stage 1 remap on the EA113 doesn't output as much power compared to the Stage 1 remap of the EA888 engine.

-assumption both are stock-

Personally driven once at 220km/h but others told me they went faster. Also chased a Jetta at 215km/h as well.

QUOTE(rip_code @ Nov 15 2012, 10:12 PM)
Hi. Is it possible that you will have 1 fault code in vagcom but the malfunction indicator light not even 1 is on? e.g. CEL?

Cut story short, I install R lights on TSi, the seller intend to code for the R lights first before install the tail light, but before he code it, he did the full scan and there is 1 fault code.

error code was P000A/00010 - something to do with camshaft positioner (bank 1 intake)...

just curious as the car is not even 1 month old yet....

I did not ask the seller to clear the code yet. In case to send to SC to check...

However, driving the car is absolutely smooth.
*
Good that you didn't ask the guy not to clear the fault code. Keep it and then send it to the SC to check it. I had plenty of fault codes previously but the car drove smoothly unless you purposely drive it in such a way that it can aggravate the issue depending on what the issue is.

Thanks Mavik. It is OK to send the car to SC even the CEL is not lit up? Drive to SC and show them screenshot of the fault code?
Afraid later they said I messed around with vagcom..and void warranty icon_question.gif
*
It is complete bullshit that VAGCOM can void your warranty unless you change significant settings. Don't let them simply bullshit you.

Actually even with the secure tint the glass can still break instead of shattering, it just comes out as one piece

anyone of u changed the fabric seat to leather from the showroom vendor?
is it any good? or better to find other shop outside and changea it yourself?
*
Pros and cons to it, the showroom vendor will usually send to their supplier or their own vendors which should have had experience changing the fabrics to leather. Hence less chances of errors and no issues with the seat air bags.

Hello people,

I've just bought a Polo sedan a month ago, and I noticed some noise in the front right side of the engine bay, probably near the suspension of the driver's side.

It sounds like something is loose (sort of like 'wuwuwu' noise coming out from old car), and is especially obvious when going through bumps.

I've sent it to SC and the person told me that it is engine mounting noise, and it is common for many many Polo sedans.

May I know if anyone experiences the same issue?
*
You should get the SC to fix it since they even know what is causing the sound/noise

buy if u want additional security (esp when park at secluded dark areas). (jsut for show dont need exp punya)

usually nobody will steal VW. The security is too top notch and demand is low in Thailand etc stolen car countries.

Actually there has been a number of car jackings especially on the Golf GTI. Twice happened at the Cha Time at Damansara Utama. The only way is to be cautious and alert. My friend's GTI was carjacked at Kota Damansara as well. But luckily the police managed to recover it back. Apparently it was used to hijack another fella's car.

not recommended to coast on N with the DSG? or other gearbox?
so far my car (a proton) works fine and well.. even save me fuel when coasting in N..

since u drive in S or manual, but still need to replace by 40,000km? means sooner or later, it will fail somehow?
then not good la. .what if it fails right after 5 years warranty.. jialat lo
*
Only the DSG because of the mechatronics and the dual clutch it has to work with

Good and valid points by gamenoob. In all seriousness, just talk to your friends or people who are tow truck drivers. They will tell you that over the past couple of months, majority of their business comes from Volkswagen, that is towing them to the service centers. Until now I still can't believe that Volkswagen Malaysia can get away with it, but I also believe that it is also partially our faults as consumer to actually go and make reports with the tribunal to ensure that this kind of crappy service doesn't happen all the time.

The jerking is a very known fact for a lot of people driving with the 7-speed DSG gearbox. Also known as the juddering

Hello guys, I wanna ask about Golf GTI. Today I go test drive and very satisfied with the performance. But no stock already. Before this they give discount until 20k for clearance stock 2012 model. But i'm too late. Only left one demo/test drive for RM185k for GTI and 122k for TSI. Should I go for it (GTI)? The seller told me that new Mk7 (will available next august) not that powerful (underpower) compare with Mk6, is it true? I'm confuse. Should I go for Mk6 or wait Mk7 next year? They ask me to come again tomorrow to discuss. But i'm not sure. Hope this is the right place to ask. Sorry for the language.  tongue.gif  Thank you so much.  notworthy.gif

That is a load of bullshit from your SA.

Golf GTI Mk7 will be around 10-20bhp more powerful and it will be 100kg lighter thanks to it's MBQ platform.

http://paultan.org/2012/09/27/volkswagen-g...eiled-in-paris/
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2012/09...gn-concept.html

I bet the SA is confused because the Golf TSI 1.4 Mk7 will have LESS power compared to the Golf TSI 1.4 Mk6 due to VW discontinuing the 1.4 TwinCharge engine and replacing it with the single 1.4 Turbo engine. But the Mk7 again, will be lighter compared to the Mk6.

Bro, I think he was talking about the TSI which is actually -20PS but +10nm

Mk7 GTI def more powerful.

On another note, hows BMW's service compared to VW? Head and shoulders above?
*
Hey bro! Yeah its a heck of a lot better in my personal experience now. Free service for 3 years which includes labour, oil, brake pads, etc. And most of the time I send my car in, I get a courtesy car to drive around.

Why not compare VW against Lexus or Mercedes too?
Normal brand against premium brand no comparisons mate.
*
Because if you bothered to read the threads carefully, grifterfmj asked how is the service difference between VW and BMW. Hence if you even bothered to read my thread which is in reply to him, hence the comparison. Grifter knew I used to drive a VW and gave it up after all the horrendous service experience.
