Something weird happen this morning.

After I switched of all the auxiliaries and engine.

I walk pass my front bonnet and heard a loud sound like a generator/air cond sound coming from under the hood.

At first I thought the noise is not from my car until I put my ear to the hood and the sound is coming from the engine..

The sound was there for a bout 15 sec.

I was worried and quickly check inside my car to see if anything was left on but nothing was on.

This has never happen before since I got the car in April.

The normal thing that happens when I turn off the engine is the hissing sound from the engine which is I believe normal as it was there since day 1.

Any idea what is this weird air cond/ generator sound?

that is fan sound, is very normal for turbo car.

something like turbo timer?

i got tired of trying to get a MDI retrofit kit, and it's quite pricey rm700+ i think
so i bought a china RCD510 & get a class 10 SDcard
problem solved!

That's for 2011 unit (new), pre reg is much higher discount.

It's actually end 2011 production so it's not much different 2012 stock within 6-9months.

I bought a china RCD510 too..the seller provided a separate AUX cable..it connects to the back of the RCD510..I use it all the time to play my iPod in my car without the MDI. the aux cable is just a normal 3.5mm, not the ipod cable.

I also got RCD510, but now I wanted to get rid of my old RCD310...
Ppl asking how to connect to Pendrives or iPod...
Headache now...

the aux cable that I'm using connects to an unused port at the back of the RCD510..I believe it's the aux port. when I want to use my Ipod I choose Media, then choose AUX option..if the RCD310 has that option when you turn the radio on then it should have the aux port too..it's just a matter of getting the cable then. I don't think it uses a special VW connector, cause I've seen the same connector on a Blaupunkt radio before..
