Hi guys, what engine oil do u guys use for your HCH? I previously used mineral oil but was advised by Honda service to use full synthetic (5W40) for better performance. After 2 months of usage, I felt that power is no difference from using mineral oil and the fuel consumption is worst. Any experience here to share?

i suggest u change back to 0w20 in your next service...

5w40 is too thick for our hybrid and you might experience further jerking with your ride smile.gif

I am using Honda Mineral oil still. I insisted on mineral oil during my 10,000km service. I was ridiculed by the Honda service manager (section head). The point is, Honda heavily marketed that their mineral oil is of very good quality. It is sufficient for city drive. I seldom go on highway nor any mountain roads.

My 90% city FC is about 17.7km/l now with ECON, gentle foot with occasional acceleration to overtake stupid cars and at traffic lights. I am not the kind that snail my car up to speed from a stop. regard me as Mildly Aggressive.

ECON Off, I get about 16km/l on 90% city.

Worst is when if I make plenty of stops and waiting for someone for 3mins+, my FC will drop to 14km/l.

hi there, glad to heard your car is having a good FC.

just my 2cents, mineral oil is relatively cheap but I'm not sure with the density of the oil. But 0w20 is the one we should go for as the oil have addictive which can protect our engine. It is up to different person and opinion. Cheers nod.gif
