I think this tread should be pinned, so that more people is aware (more of BEWARE) of this "chamber nut" thingy.

I went to change my all 4 tyres today.  So naturally request to do the alignment also.  Then, the tyre guy told me i need to do chambering also, he said if want to do is +RM 120 for front set and another RM 120 for rear set.  shocking.gif yawn.gif  yawn.gif  I looked at my old tyres which is now laying on the ground, didn't see any uneven wear or eat one side type of wear.

I was very very puzzled rclxub.gif , as i thought alignment means align both the Toe and Chamber????  So i told him that last time i've ALREADY changed (read: CONNED cry.gif  doh.gif , at another tyre shop) my front to the "adjustable chamber nut" already.  So you should be able to adjust it no problem.  Then he told me no need to buy new adjustable chamber nut, but still to adjust the chamber need RM 60.  So front set RM 60 + rear set Rm 120..... total Rm 180 shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif

So i told him no i don't want do chamber, just continue do your whatever alignment it is.. sweat.gif

I really do think need to pin this thread to bring awareness to all

Edit: Should be pinned under "Tyre Talk" i think? hmm.gif

Just reposting the my reply in another thread. As I think we really need to raise the awareness on the Chamber Nut/Bolt thing during wheel/tyre alignment

you can try KIN Alignment in Bandar Sunway, i went there for more than 4 years already i guess, every time they did my alignment and balancing until very straight, good thing is they never ask me to change camber nut and one of the guy there even told me camber for most of the car is fixed and it wont out of align unless the car got accident before

but then that's just 1 shop. I think most tyre shop will always say need change chamber nut, always say if don't change, will makan tyre. When we reply don't want change, then will say "are you sure? will makan one side oh. you better don't drive long distance highway if you really don't want change." Always trying to squeeze the last drop from our wallet.

Maybe there're a few decent tyre shop. But so far my experiences with tyre shop is "trying to squeeze my wallet".

2) Is adjust camber price RM 30? not even a nut change, it is juz adjust.
a : yes. that is their standard price for workmanship. the only different is some shop do it better and some other,
lousy!

So that's means that align Toe & align Chamber is different charges??? ie:
align toe for 4 wheels = RM 2x
align chamber for 1 wheel = RM 3x, 2 wheel = RM 6x (provided it is already adjustable)
is it correct?? why align chamber seems much more expensive??

and saga LMST camber angle CAN be adjust AFTER u change to adjustable camber bolt
the bolt ALLOW u to adjust the angle only , but not 1 time job ( after the bolt the angle wont lari anymore)
*
what did you mean not 1 time job?
in my case, my ride is hyundai i10 FL, last time kena tukar adjustable chamber nut (RM80/pc) x 2 front tyre. doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

"after the bolt the angle wont lari anymore" meaning if i don't hit pothole hard or something, the chamber angle usually won't lari anymore even if it is adjustable chamber nut?

i dunno what LMST means, but i10's suspension front is macpherson strut, rear is coupled torsion beam axle (read direct from brochure, me not so familiar with suspension)

alignment in USA is $50 , for the toe align only
while in msia , we are using HUNTER machine , from USA as well but the charges only start from rm25
not even come close to there
and Camber they will charge $50-100 depend on car and workmanship

still u think expensive here?
is below market price alot

ok maybe its not so expensive. but but... my 2 experience with tyre shops are not so good mah... so i've developed a certain 'scepticalness' towards tyre shop now hmm.gif hmm.gif
