I see. I forgot to mention up there that the 4k is not included with air tickets. I've spared another part of my savings for the air tickets. And yeah if it happens, it's gonna be my first time to Japan. Wow, hmm because I'm planning to get on board the bullet trains as well, and have a ride on their subway lines to get around. Seems like I've to allocate more then. Thanks for the insight dude. Usually if Tokyo or Kyoto alone, how many days can I complete touring each city?

New to the forum.  Will be flying to Osaka end of Nov'13. Just wondering if I should book my hotel now in order to have early bird discount?  Plan to stay in budget hotel.  Is it advisable to book via Air Asia website or some other websites such as Agoda?  Your advice is appreciated.

Thanks for replying.  Do you suggest AA's recommendation.  Some of the hotels featured in their website are quite affordable. 

I will be flying to Osaka with my family for our annual trip (wife and 1 kid).  My budget is small.  Do you think RM7 - 8k (excl air tickets)  is enough for 6D/5N?  I am not planning to go Tokyo but will be in Kansai area for the whole trip.  Appreciate it if you could point me to a thread that talked about itinerary? Disney no need. Universal not sure. Please make full use of the fast pass to save time. U can also research about which are the popular rides and timing/location of parades. Lunch time has the shortest queue, so try to eat earlier or later.

pretty sure you don't need to submit bank balance statement, but if you're going for a conference as a student, your school/uni has to prepare the required letters and documents. i think you don't even need to handle all the tasks, if your school/uni is sending you there, then they'll have to prepare everything. at max you submit your personal particulars and photos within visa specs (different from your IC/license photo!).

if the conference is organized by org/party in japan, then they'll have to prepare the documents and you'll have to go to embassy to do the rest, i guess...

i stayed at hotel during my last visit and the staffs are happy to keep the letter containing the stuffs. should be the same for the hostel, Japanese are usually very helpful and honest in this regards. don't risk collecting at airport unless you fly to narita which usually at afternoon of overnight flight, if flying to haneda sure many shop closed by the time you reach - same for every other flight from all over the world, international flight are all scheduled either late night or early moaning. they usually operate until 7/8pm and restaurants open maybe until 12pm.

Anyone can recommend me an onsen ryokan in osaka/kyoto/kobe/nagoya? or maybe just a ryokan.
During my last visit i only stayed in the capsule ryokan, which is for the budget purposes. I would like to try the real exp in a ryokan (esp. onsen type) , which some of that included jap meal & trying kimono suit. Anyone can share?
