If I want to travel within Osaka, (shin osaka, Umeda, Minami, dotonbori, Kita. etc), which train do you suggest and is there a week pass for that?

According to hyperdia, each ride at least 350 - 600 Yen, and if I want to commute  within osaka, station to station, that would cost me a bomb.
I will be staying somewhere in Fukushima .

Edit: JR Line is good, yes?
*
Fukushima as in Sendai Fukushima?
Then its the 7day JR-pass what u wanna get(28300yen) as it covers the Shinkansen from Tohoku to Kansai and local Kansai JR. It however does not cover osaka subways.
But you can get to most part of osaka via JR lines

Ah not Sendai Fukushima, exact address is  Fukushima 7-chome, Fukushima-ku, Osaka-City.

So like you're saying, if I want to commute within Osaka/Shin Osaka - JR lines is the best choice , yes? Do you think I should be getting a -day pass as well? thats aabout 2,000 Yen if im not mistaken.

I havent do my visa yet, which date you're going coz Im going next 17th Oct.
*
Oh..
If Kansai internally. it depends on how much and how far you go.
If you are the type who likes to go lots of places but stay at same hotel/hostel, Surutto or the JR-west pass is a bargain. Osaka is near to Nara, Kyoto, so theres no need to ride the shinkansen.
JR local trains would suffice. use hyperdia just to estimate ur daily train budget

I will be arriving in Fukuoka on Oct17 from Busan, n i havent submit my visa application yet LOL.
im doomed doh.gif (im only at 20% planning) sweat.gif

Thank you so much for your information, the golden temple is it near the mountain there which kinda far from Nijo-jo?
Kyoto is it full of blossom tree? I planned to visit during Autumn (after winter), wher can I see the blossom trees surrounding me?
What had you prepare, can list to me?
*
take note the visa application form has new format now.
If you are filling a form that has 'for office use' box on the 1st page middle and its a 2page form, you are filling the correct one.
If you are filling a 1paged form, that is an old form and wont be accepted anymore.

Mine rejected so i filled up the new form on the spot (i edited my old form from feb)
However some runner ended up kena take back the new form for their client to re-fill.
Other than that i prep 1 itinerary form, 1 passport pic, bank stat, letter from office, a copy of flight confirmation tix(not required, but ok to submit) wink.gif

the only reason i didnt ry multi-entry even i think im eligible is coz its fixed max 15days. that is too short if u really wanna explore japan.
all my prev trip was borderline 15days.
but its a good offer for those who consider to visit jp multiple times as japan is big n so much to explore. im on my way to 4th entry

- I think most bank now knows about Japan bank statement letter for Japan Visa application (coz they know it such a mendokusai)
- for itinerary, i dont think it needs to be detailed. I think they only want to know if you already have a place to stay.
Mine, i only put the city i will sleep over and some hostel info (some are left TBC) as i go backpack style n no confirmation. But maybe i have been to jp few times already so maybe they go leeway for me.

The key-idea here is that you show them you know what u are doing

You only balik modal if you use the shinkansen minimum twice long distance as from kyoto/shin-osaka to tokyo is just 13kyen, while the jrpass is 28.3kyen

you can consider some stop along the way at nagoya and shizuoka.
Or even rountrip back on shinkansen back to kansai.
*Please check the air ticket price 1st as i think if buying roundtrip is cheaper than buying 1 way tix return.

*i bought a HND->KUL oneway and it states 17kyen. But when i check a roundtrip tix KUL->HND->KUL, the return part HND->KUL is in MYR and its rm516(promo) =__= . Seems promo is only applicable to MY folks as maybe it was assuming im a foreigner from JP since i bought 1 way tix from there doh.gif

----
checked back. my return tix is indeed promo too, but 17k yen promo. maybe to jp-folks 17kyen is cheap sweat.gif

hi...

just want to ask, is it easy to get a shinkansen ticket from Tokyo to Kyoto if i buy on the spot?
and is reserved-seat is a must?

don't want to get a Japan Rail Pass as it is only a one-way trip...

plan to go Japan during sakura season, april next year...
*
i believe it should be easy.
For non-reserved seat its an open ticket i believe. As if u miss the train at 9.45am, you can hop on the next train.
FCFS non-reserved seats is car 1-5. Since the Tokaido Shinkansen starts at Tokyo end (another end is Himeji/Okayama), high chance u'll get a seat wink.gif

i got 10 hours till my flight gone.. and to settle everything if Im really going to go..
now I at Sekyen 7, Shah Alam.. no transport to go to KLIA.. might need to take commuter+ERL to KLIA..
*
KLIA => to klsentral via commuter, ERL to KLIA
LCCT(Airasia) -> to klsentral via komuter, Bus (skybus/aerobus etc, rm10 n lower) to LCCT.
Good luck with the prep.
Cant help much as im in Korea now before heading Japan

------------
To do:
- change monies to yen
- call cc center n tell em u gonna go japan
- enable ur roaming mode for ur phone. so u can call back home in case of emergency (can consider rent a phone, but for now, just enable roaming if ur package plan doesnt roam)
- bring a pack of maggi. for survival kit just in case u cant figure out how to buy food on the 1st day

once landing:
- go tourist center n get a map. they usually provide free. get the train/subway map as well
- get SUICA. its a touchngo for tokyo/kanto region. load up 5kyen. u can load more next time
- . . .
- BRACE FOR ADVENTURE ON A LAND U CANT SPEAK N UNDERSTAND THEIR LANGUAGE tongue.gif

Just to let everyone know for those who didnt, i think japan has started integrating the IC-cards.
If you have SUICA, you can use it even in Fukuoka(SUGOCA area) now and vice versa. SUICA(Kanto) xSUGOCA (Kyushu) xICOCA(Kansai) yey. No need to get all the cards just to avoid massive coins in pocket tongue.gif
