for windows xp go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data and delete Battle.net folder

for windows 7.... should be almost the same, maybe C:\Users\All Users\Application Data

then start your launcher again, it will recreate the bad files and patch will work. I did it and fixed the problem.

From win7 just delete the folder battle. Net is well no neet change patch URL for us?

check the maintainence thread, there are steps for you to solve this problem in a couple of post, something about finding a couple of files, open it with notepad and replaceing some of the words in there
