I think we should keep this thread on matters regarding Maxis Home Fibre. Complaints is ok, rantings maybe should open another thread just like how it used to be with streamyx (I think still is).
To be fair, here's a summary for you to consider if you are unsure whether to or not to install MHF:
General Items on Maxis Home Fibre
1. 10Mbps is fast. Youtube, BT, Skype no problem.
2. Intermittent disconnection. Gaming, VPN quite a hassle.
3. Customer Service Line (Outsourced). One word. Bad.
4. Maxis Technical Team (In house). Up to par.
ONT and Wifi/ VoIP Router
1. All equipments provided along with streamyx, unifi or maxis heat up quickly and easily.
2. By looking at the design of the equipments, it is obvious we can put them stand up vertically instead of putting it horizontally for better air circulation.
3. Thomson has relatively weaker wifi signals, built-in antenna is to be blamed but common issue with any similar built-in antenna wifi router/ap (classic case study from an old linksys router).
4. I also have a constant disconnection approximately 0:55AM daily which I suspect it is a unintended side effect owing to the renewal of eVoIP IP (observation from log).
5. Lastly, No. The "poor" quality of line is unlikely related to the equipments at your home, but somewhere in Maxis.
Oh one more thing, I doubt the ping to maxis IP proves anything as it is likely possible that the machine at that IP may attempt to filter ping replies. Why I say so, because all my pings to external ip has zero failure**. I think I mentioned that in ronnie's thread.
However, I don't believe we should continue our discussion in current mode. Ranting doesn't help. Maybe should create another thread for ranting if this helps anyone to release tension.
Cheers
** Correction: Minimal drops below 5%
