Good news! The browsing issue is most probably solved, that is why you no longer experience site not loading or having to wait for a long time to load.

Just got a call from one guy in cs who has been in contact with me from day one. We basically exchanging infos/feedbacks on maxis ftth.

He called me just about 30 minutes ago asking about my browsing experience. I told him it has been smooth lately. He told me there has been work carried out in the maxis server centre to solve the issue.

What they have done is to bypass a certain process which cause the website not to load, looping forever. Actually the process is done on purpose, sort of cache I was told to make the browsing faster. But that does not go according to plan, so the process is taken off from browsing now onwards.

Anyway, any of you guys still experience problem when browsing websites? Please post/update in the forum here so I can give him some feedback when he call.

As for slow speed on downloading at torrent, rapidshare etc, he told me most probably throttling is being done.

I forgotten to ask him about fup, will ask him when he call next time(I do not have access to him anyway. So I can only talk to him when he call me next time). So far the frequency is once a week.

Oops... one more thing, forgotten to complain to him about the cs waiting time, good to write here so i can remember to tell him next time.

*

still face the intermittent disconnection issue. All lights will be like normal and even the thomson will say internet is connected but no machine can online until i manually disconnect and reconnect or wait longer than 10 minutes maybe. Most of the time i face this issue i will go manually connect/disconnect.

The timing for it to happen seems random, can be few day once, or few times within a couple of hour.

For the record, I'm on Public IP setup.

Apart from that, consider everything else normal la.
*
you cannot connect via direct lan or wifi, or both?

if wifi, maybe you can change the channel to solve the issue

if both also cannot connect, u better call cs, could be thomson router/line issue

seem like both of u interested that mean it is worth to subscribe unifi no matter it is 5mb or 10mb. I still have the phone number I pm u. help me to double confirm because I already deny his offer ; ) then again this only for existing Streamyx users.
*
too bad, i potong my streamyx a month ago leh... since i am on highrise, and unable to use the streamyx line once i switch to maxis ftth, i've to discontinue my streamyx immediately

so going back back to unifi is not an option... furthermore i've informed everyone my new voip number... too much hassle... furthermore, the browsing issue is solved now... i don't download much and not a gamer either, so i am comfortable with maxis ftth now

one more important update... the browsing issue is most probably has to do with the way maxis server handle the task, not intermittent disconnection

based on my conversation with the cs guy, he told me what they did is switched off some kind of cache processing in the maxis server, which cause the browsing request to loop forever... that is why previously you'll see when a webpage is loading, it has to pass through a series of process before the webpage finally appear... now if you notice there is no longer such processes

@Danieltay
Thought there was improvement of page not loading issue, the intermittent disconnection still rampant. Need to disconnect and reconnect eInternet whenever it happens.  mad.gif During intermittent disconnection, web pages not loading, youtube keep buffering forever and will not auto resume play even the connection was back to normal. surprisingly dect phone still have dial tone and I managed to do a test call during intermittent disconnection.
If Voip ok, why internet not ok ? I suspect the ID problem originated from Maxis core internet server.

i do not face such issue... are you using the latest firmware version(8.4.3.U) on the thomson router?

pls check your thomson router firmware version... if it's not 8.4.3.U, call cs and request a new replacement router

anyway, i am on private ip, not sure if this is a public ip issue

the only way to upgrade firmware from 8.4.3.I to 8.4.3.U is changing router?

intermittent disconnection issue now have 2 possibilities:
1) public IP
2) 8.4.3.I
for me my router is 8.4.3.I and im using public IP
*
call cs and request to change thomson router with latest firmware

i am on 8.4.3.U with private ip, so far ok

the only way to know is change your router first

same with me then, as i stated a few posts up...

i don't mind these problems as long as they are really doing maintenance/troubleshooting work (and not because of another unsolvable problem has cropped up), and as long as it's not happening every month for the next two years  laugh.gif

Added on August 10, 2012, 9:59 am

everyone due for installation are having the same problem. let's hope you get a better router brand/model than we did  smile.gif
*
yup, it actually started about 5pm yesterday... i check 8pm it's becoming worst... at night until 3am still the same... then about 5am i try ok already

it has problem especially with foreign website... the webpage loading is completed but nothing come out in the browser... hope it's maintenance work but i am worry now to be honest... it looks as they started to implement some processes yet again for web browsing... now i still notice some webpages will take longer than usual to load with the "sending request" at the bottom screen... something is not right... damn it! not sure why they want to implement the processes for web browsing... it was smooth sailing for only one week!

the old, white thomson router is phased out already, that is why no stock... too bad we're going to get the same brand, thomson router but this time in black box, new model... i guess they are now doing some testing for the new thomson... heard it would be available somewhere september

honestly, if i can turn back the clock, i'll stick with my streamyx for good... the maxis ftth is constantly having problems, it makes you worry too much especially when you rely on the connection for work purposes... but now it's too late, so i can only move forward and hope for the best

Pretty much any international ones. Local sites like lowyat loads very fast
*
if you surf regularly, even the lowyat forum is slower than usual at times

how to know? you'll notice a "sending request" at the bottom of the browser, it'll stuck there for a while before the webpage load

Before last night, other than the blank tab problem which supposedly already solved, I've experienced that for local sites. Last night was bad.

But Diablo 3 is still at around 250-290ms. Not too bad I guess laugh.gif
*
if it's really due to maintenance, i've no problem

but my guess is they add some processes back to browsing, which slow down the whole thing... actually for foreign website, you still can feel now it takes quite sometime for the whole webpage to load

tiring lah with this maxis shits... when the cs guy call, i'll give him one last chance, one final ultimatum

some stupid engineers in maxis server centre trying to be genius yet again... placing some processing in the server for web browsing request, yet again... wtf!

they just removed the processing a week ago and now trying some new tricks... you would see the "Sending requests..." message at the left bottom of your browser screen

man these days theres DC , very slow speed etc .
need to manually restart the equipments a few times .
currently the speed is also slow .

man so many problems , hope its just the maintenance.
*
i do not believe it has to do with maintenance work... they are screwing the maxis server centre yet again by placing some processing for web browsing request

why i say so? because my own website hosted in USA load very slow or not loading at all at times... but when try to ftp, it's going smooth and fast... it must have to do with the way they handle the web browsing

It's only beginning of the month and they are doing maintenance until end of the month so this means it'll be a whole month to do it? That's crazy!
*
spot on... but i suspect they are trying to accommodate the iptv... that is why no news on iptv until now... infrastructure not ready, server cannot cope.... blah3

damn, when the iptv launch, maybe the server will burst into flame, haha... and our surfing speed will reduce to 14.4kbps... really beh tahan this maxis

that is why tm unifi is now picking on maxis with its latest advertisement:

"Trust Us. We Know Broadband Best."

If tm unifi willing to lower down their charges, say RM128 for 5mpbs, i'll jump ship for sure!

Go to hell with maxis forever problematic ftth

today seems fine.
only last night speed sucks.

same shits lah, slow... even surfing lowyat will stuck with "Sending request..."

this is definitely nothing to do with maintenance work... the current situation is similar to the period when they place the stupid processing loop for web browsing previously.... the situation becoming worst during peak period, especially weekends

Okay, I called up Maxis and they said I quote " You'll be having some slow connection issue to International Site and that includes Gaming too till the end of this month"

Bear in mind - anything that happens to Maxis Home Fibre also applies to UNIFI because they share the same damn* undersea cable
*
are they saying it is because of unifi line? i thought someone said because work done in maxis server centre?

i do not see any announcement on such issue in tm site... so i don't believe what the maxis cs said until i tested on unifi myself.. if it takes one month to solve, even newspaper like thestar will publish it

if that has do with undersea, why locally hosted site like thestar, lowyat also slow? another effort to sweep the truth under the carpet?

that is why maxis ftth(ell) users here lazy to call maxis cs, long waiting time asides, they are not able to solve the issue... always try to blame someone else... if that is said to me, i'll ask those questions and if they can't answer, they'll get a very "nice" shout by me

i just called my friend who is using unifi 5mbps, he said no problem, good as usual... anyway, i am not physically present to test it out, but i assume he is telling the truth bcoz unlike maxis cs, he has no agenda to bull
