At least he get access to TB. But seems like he can backup apps without root. He should follow Uncle Benny's recommendation

But that means no Jelly Bean experience for him too. drool.gif

Nothing comes close to Jelly Bean at the moment bro. And if he goes with the root-without-unlocking-bootloader way, he will have to unlock the bootloader sometime in the future for custom ROMs. If he doesn't he'll be poisoned by me. brows.gif

I skipped everything, didn't even bother setting up the phone.
Got phone, straight to Paranoid Android ROM.

BTW, anyone here actually got their phone with an unlocked bootloader?
My AP Domoco Nexus came unlocked.

I bought the Nexus because I like how it's black and simple. No other reason.
Maybe I'm just weird. tongue.gif

No! This is too awesome to be compared with an S3.
This has Jelly Bean and it makes all S3 users go jelly. rclxms.gif

wow you're kinda mean... anyways i will just proceed with the root and data wipe..

my concern was never on the rooting or flashing process.... i was concern on the backup and yes i do know that it's not possible to backup DATA before unlocking bootloader

i actually wanted to backup the apps, since my phone is brand new there's no DATA to backup.... anyhow since there's no way to do this (which is extremely emphasised by benny888) i'll just have to proceed to wipe out the data.... better to lose my apps now than to lose data when i begin to use the phone.

no offence against benny888 understand he's grumpy with all the noob questions i made but then again if i dont ask these question how am i to learn and proceed with using the phone up to it's potential.

if i just wanted a phone to make calls and sms i might as well get a nokia 3100 and stick to it forever.

Moving on to another level is always painful at first and thanks to this forum i've actually learned a lot with all the supports from the sifus here

I dont mine being flamed as it will not deter me from learning and asking more. it's part of the learning process.

You are not alone. All see this will ask whether it's S3. When did they see S3 with full black front, even the bezel is black laugh.gif

No need to mention names bro, I'm sure he's stopping you because he doesn't want you to brick your brand new phone. Anyway, good luck proceeding, I'll try to find as many video guides as possible for you. thumbup.gif

Root using the toolkit. Go read it. Is a no brainer tool
Just click n select . How more simpler than that?
Then install titanium backup to backup apps plus data
Root process takes only 2 mins
