All sifu, i just finished download the 4.0.4 ROM in tar from the web. How to update it with CWM? Do i need to change it to zip as cwm dont recognize tar
*
Tar is for Odin bro. You need to download a CWM zip file, and don't change the file format.

JUST GOT THE PHONE!!! rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif but now im rclxub.gif

you can add me to the list of users xD

the thing is they loaded some apps for me and there are like 30 (games software, antivirus and GPS)

so how do you normally back this up? do i need an app to do backup?

QUOTE(springfall @ Jul 1 2012, 07:42 PM)
--unlock ur bootloader so it will not wipe ur sdcard when u wanna do stuff in future
ok but no i have a problem where i have lots of apps loaded in so i have to first perform a backup right? i just connect the phone to PC and backup?? (like how i normally backup my 5800)

--u will find out soon brows.gif

--apparently not(data by means of sdcard) contacts all, google will sync back.

--leaving it unlock got no problems, in fact most of us leave it unlocked

-- dun worry i'm just saying itz good to intro stuff, not let u bang wall 1st... (later we all get problems like ios haters)
new terms will be picked up fast, be4 u know it, u know it~

--cwm is a recovery part of the phone, for flashing stuff
--toolkit to put cwm, root, and unlock and restore back to stock if things happen

--leave the bootloader locked/unlocked, unrooted, on stock yakju, then OTA will come, i dun think it will wipe ur data.

-- if u r confy, flash away like what IwanAGP said, he know his stuff, he went straight JB
*
Thanks for the tips and being patient (not flaming me tongue.gif )!!

QUOTE(chkhoo76 @ Jul 1 2012, 07:43 PM)
After you completed unlock your bootloader, it will auto wipe off your data.

This is what i experienced just now after i successful unlock my bootloader  biggrin.gif
*
noted and will proceed with caution cz they loaded apps for me laugh.gif

Just watch it once, this guy in the video gives lots of explanations too.

TS, please add this to the first page if you find this helpful.

Thanks for the video!!!

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Jul 1 2012, 08:00 PM)
hmm.gif First, follow the guide to flash to yakju 4.0.4 or you can just let toolkit do the job. Of course you can choose to do just unlock bootloader but there's an option called One-click for all (unlock, root, flash cwm). If you want to stay on stock firmware, then just unlock and root. I think so. You need verification from sifus
*
so i'll just download rootkit and cwm and follow the guide after BACKUP correct?

What's the firmware version? Rooted? If not rooted, unless they provided the APK, else you got no way to back up anything from the phone.

congrats =) did they unlock and root it for you?

I use Titanium Backup and mybackup pro to back up my stuff, (after unlocking and rooting of course)
do note that the phone will wipe itself if you unlock the bootloader

Wow... 4.0.1. It's more than Half year old version

yes, that' the firmware version.

Now, download Android System Info from Play store. Then launch it, see under OS info is which version. Yakju or Yakjuxw etc...

APK is like Windows Installer for a Program. You need that to install program into your phone. If it's provided then you can just copy out and reinstall. If it isn't, you can't backup without root privilege.

Bye... Continue study for stupid test doh.gif
