gua pun noobie jugak.. biggrin.gif

If i understand correctly, Electronic Stability Program (Elantra) /Vehicle Stability Assist (Civic) works to bring the car back under control (after losing traction) by exercising braking and traction control. The Vehicle Stability Management (Elantra) or VSA + EPS (Civic) works to maintain directional stability by adjusting steering inputs.

Either way, i sure hope i dont get into situations that require activation of either one of these safety measures.. tongue.gif

Thanks for this. I was just too lazy to compare myself. But the Civic has VSA as standard as well so Item 7 isnt valid. Item 9 should also not be on the list as a SOHC engine is equally good as it gives more torque at low end revs.

Based on this, the distinctive differece between the 2 cars would be Item 1,2, 3,4, 8 and maybe 11 only. The rest is not really required and not many would use it anyway.

But another difference between the two would be the driving dynamics. The Civic's handling is still better and the engine is a tad more refined. Not sure about fuel consumption figures between the 2 though.
*
yes, initially i took for granted that the VSA is only the equivalent to the ESP. Upon further checking, then only found out that it has VSM features as well. If i'm not mistaken, among the current Korean makes, only the Elantra is equipped with ESP+VSM. The rest are just ESP.

As for the other features, personally, I would have given up on the light/rain sensors for more air bags smile.gif

On driving dynamics, we all know that Civic is the leader here. But i would say that the Elantra is slightly ahead in terms of comfort and NVH.

Well the VSM is certainly news for me. Until now i thought that ESP = VSC = VSM. But now according to you, the VSM is actually a slightly more advanced system.
*
its more of an addition to the ESP rather than a more advance system. Normal ESP detects loss of control (oversteer/understeer) and applies braking/traction control to help bring the vehicle back under control. VSM on the other hand applies counter steering assist (up to 8 Newton counter steering) to help bring directional stability. An example i can think of is when speeding on a highway and driving one side into a water puddle where you will get a sudden pull in one direction. If i understand correctly, VSM will kick in to counter the pull.

like i said, if possible, i do not want to find myself in those situations, but its good to know that our cars have these safety features ready to kick in, as compared to some recently launched D segment car smile.gif

Checkout this months Autocar Malaysia. First time seeing a local magazine trashing jap cars. They ren used the word ridiculous specs when compared the specs to Korean car. LoL!
*
yup.. T really needs to wake up and face reality.. the rest of the japs are already responding. Having said that, i wont be surprise if that 180k car emerges as the best selling D segment. Majority of Malaysians are still sticking to the resale value and after sales service. I can still relate to the 2nd point, BUT given the choice, i would not want to skimp on safety features. Just like how i wish the Elantra would come with 6 airbags tongue.gif

Did you know that the Civic has more total internal legroom compared to the Elantra? The Civic has 198.63cm while the Elantra registers just 194.82cm of internal legroom.

Just for info.
*
the new Civic?? wow.. how did they manage to squeeze in so much space given the shorter wheelbase?

ehehe.. + 1 here.. but have to commend H for at least trying to do something with the interior. There is still a lot of hard plastics, but at least they found a way to paint it to look like soft touch material smile.gif but i have experience this scenario a couple of times already.. when a biadap car will be cutting into my lane without signalling and i will curse "Blardy Ah Beng City!!" only to find that its actually a Civic!! biggrin.gif

The quality of the audio, however, depends on your ears tongue.gif

yup.. for an normal untrained ear person like myself, i would say that the audio is not really amazing, but adequate. Didnt test on the radio reception though.. tongue.gif

U can test Honda Civic physically. Legroom is not that great. I dont know how u get the data.
As I said it small & a bit cramp for the C-segment category.
No need to argue.
*
i have to agree on this. i did checked out the new civic hybrid at tropicana mall previously. Not sure if its the same in terms of space, but i did find the legroom a little cramp when compared to the Elantra. again, this is based on my personal experience. smile.gif

Oh damn. Booked a 1.6HS mid-July. Just got a call from my SA, got stock of 1.6Std. If still wanna wait for the HS, not sure when can get car. Now in a dilemma. To wait or not? What is the diff between the Std and HS beside the VSM and telescopic steering?
*
1) No ESP + VSM
2) No telescopic steering (only tilt)
3) different leather seats.
