Hi guys,

would like to ask how do you find nexus 7 ? Did you enjoy it? plus ha s there been any increase/improvement in android apps cathering for tablet? I've been using HTC Desire and Galaxy SII for combined years of around 3 years but have not much exposure to android on tablets.
*
So far I have no issue using apps
Any specific app you are concerned

I bought this slim magnetic case from ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...ME:L:OC:MY:3160

When i close the flap, it will auto shutdown the display but will not wake it up when i flip it open
Another irritating issue, when i turn the flap completely flat backwards, it will shutdown the display too. What a design and i see it as useless. So i have to hold the tablet with the flap turned back not fully but prop slightly up at the edge to avoid display shutdown

If i'm not mistaken, there are some apps that when use on tablets would show pixelated or 'enlarged' or outright not available for tablets at all. Also in the past, it seems tablet optimized apps were less. Just wondering has there been more apps generated for tables.
*
I have never experienced yet such issues on all the apps i use on the tablet. As said before what is your concern - which apps you are interested in . There is no specific apps that are tailored solely for tablets as ICS/JB has resolved such issues unlike Honeycomb
You keep asking this and you will get same answer

Is haptic feedback/vibration on key press supported in N7? Can't find my way around to enable it. Or is my unit defective?

Even thumb keyboard when enable also nothing happen.
*
In settings/language & input - select the keyboard you want ( eg AOSP) - and select the settings icon to the right - you can select sound on keypress - is on by default
It works very well . Anyway I disable it as i find it a nuisance
If no sound, try reflash the rom before considering hardware failure
No issues at all with thumb keyboard either - you must select these sound n haptic options at its settings as is turn off by default

Lol the answer was obvious as well.

Anyway, realized that directd have dropped their price in lelong.com.my, signs that the official set will be lower than 1199? biggrin.gif

How do you guys decide whether to get the 8/16GB version? Originally I was eyeing for the 8GB one for price point, but now starting to be afraid that it is not enough, since my Nexus S also is 16GB already.
*
8gb better only 5gb left good for kids use only
16 gb left 13gb still bearable
Price difference minimal rm150+ only better get 16gb

for the guys who are having problem with their Nexus 7,i just wanted to ask whether the tablet is from a previous batch or the current batch?
*
Seems each batch also got issues. Mine is c70 so far so good
QC definitely poor at Asus side. Quite many poor quality comments at xda forums too

which service center you send to?
the one inside lowyat plaza?

i'm thinking no point sending to the service center now.
since they dont have spare parts, send also waste effort only, the tab will just sit in their office.

i rather continue use it. its working find as long volume dont more than 40%
wait 1 month later they got spare parts only send.

Added on August 29, 2012, 4:50 pmi realize my tab more warm after i flash new CNA rom,

i check CPU spy, then only realize its running most of the time at 1.4GHz,
on stock rom, its running most of the time at 1.2GHz,
i dont like the heat and i believe it will  cause bad battery life.

i set the performance settings to be 1.2GHz max, but it does not follow the settings. anyway to make it stick to lower frequency?
*
No such high CPU speed n temperature rarely exceed 35. That is why I said in my review is the coolest tablet I have used including smartphones
If rom issue you will read manysuch complains already

CNA 3.4.1 rom I must say is a disappointment over 3.3.2. I faced some slight freezes occasionally especially on browsing. So last 2 days i switch to EOS 27 aug nightly build. this was the first rom i tested on the N7. It is less well featured vs CNA rom but very stable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777586

Anyway CNA has now released his nightly build. The latest build is dated 29 Aug. I am now downloading it
Download it here

yeah, there is a kernel that runs on stock speed.
just release 2 days ago.

its called franco kernal.

is this guy like a superstar in xda?
never seen him before. he has 13k thanks, super amazing. shocking.gif

but his kernel so advance, abit troublesome to flash.
its not a cwm zip, need to go bootloader, use adb something to flash.

luckily the nexus toolkit got a GUI to do so, easily done like using odin in samsung phones.
yeah yeah thumbup.gif

expecting good battery life starting from tomorrow.
the default cna kernal really bad battery and warmer than stock rom.
*
My experience completely different
Not hot average mid thirties even with continuous prolong use
Excellent battery life
Combine w Trinity kernel
But latest version including nightly 30aug browser sometime freeze slightly
So since yesterday I switch to euroshank jellybro cm10. Very smooth n battery equally good

Surprise you don't know franco. Well known in sgs phones n nexus phones. Get his paid app for more kernel features

i was using the default kernal bundled with CNA.
that kernal is overclocked, warmer.
hmm.gif why is this hard to believe? higher clock speed = warmer = less battery.
i'm not making this up here. it stays at 1.4GHz during intensive task.

havent tried trinity because that requires paid app to control it right?
dont like to pay for a kernel, unless absolutely no other choice.
i'm guess your trinity kernel is nicely tweaked and optimized for battery&performance

franco kernel is true to the description, running at stock speed,
cpu spy proves it, stays at 1.2GHz at high use.
i dont feel the placebo effect of any rom/kernal is faster/smoother,
but i definitely feel the slightly warmer tab. so i'm happy with this now. icon_rolleyes.gif

franco is well known in sgs1 and galaxy nexus?
i only own sgs2, tab10.1 and nexus7, no wonder never seen him before.
13k thanks is really alot, he must be really really senior and awesome.
good to see such great developer for nexus 7 as well.
*
However Franco guy is quite proud n snobbish!! I also bought his paid kernel when using nexus but now has instead also switched to Trinity which offer very good color tones control on nexus but lacking in nexus7

the default CNA stock kernal is overclocked, slightly warmer, and cant last more than 6 hours.
i think he is using trinity with lots of optimization.

but today i jump ship to paranoid android.
its quite good actually, you can choose a mode to make it phablet mode to get the UI of CNA,
couldn't really tell the difference between smoothness, both also very smooth, dont have to wipe system also it can work fine

good thing about it is apps like youtube can make it tablet mode, and minimize the navigation bar at will.
battery life not sure yet, cos just use it for one day.
*
CNA on default kernel easily last me 10 hours on continuous video playback n on wifi browsing I estimate 12 to 14 hours. Never faced so serious short 6 hours usage. Never tweak just use default. Temperature is Cool not even warm , mid thirties even prolong usage
Even with trinity quite similar only advantage is slight smoother
I have been using nightly builds. Worse experience was on 3.4.1,3.4.2 where I faced some slight freezing during browsing. Subsequent nightly builds no more such issue

Tab 7.7 is slow. Even Tab 2-7.7 also Slow. Nexus 7 is faster.  rclxm9.gif
*
True only if tab 7.7 is on honeycomb
On ics n7 is slight faster only
On jb/cm10 rom tab77 not much different with n7 though n7 slickness n smoothness is obviously better
On paper benchmark n7 thrump tab 7.7 but practically it doesn't as quadcore not fully optimized for most apps yet

Sometime is bad luck one gets a defective unit
Performance is definitely better than tab 10.1
But is true seems quality problems is an issue based on xda reports
I m waiting for mine to "explode" one of these days. Hopefully it wont
