the speaker is perfect now, in fact i feel its super clear and nice.
maybe because these few days keep hearing from my s2 built in speaker,

tablet speaker totally pownes phone speakers
glad to have my tablet back.

peeps who thinking of buying asus nexus 7,
no need wait local launch la. same only, buy from garage sales,
can claim warranty also, same as local launch. probably cheaper also.

after backup using the toolkit do i still need to backup original rom (nandroid) thru cwm? thanks.

It is good practice to do a nandroid backup as you can easily restore it without need to use the toolkit

Argh!! Finally my fear comes to haunt me! Apparently my N7 has faulty microphone. Lucky I tried to make Google Search using voice and the mic is not working then i try Google+ Hangout, and few apps but it just doesn't work!

Using earphone+mic and plug to 3.5mm Jack also doesn't work. Its like the N7 doesnt have mic feature at all..!!

I'm going back to where I bought this tomorrow and let them fix or give a new replacement!

WOW - this has also prompted me to test mine. Never bother testing the mic as i never see need to use it. Just tested with Google Now - perfect voice recognition and perfect answers received !

google now not as perfect as promoted one.

when see advertistment compared with siri, it answer very well.

the speed is great, but the accuracy, quite often it get me wrong.
i'd say simple questions, 50% chance of getting it right.

but the offline voice input is downright useless, its wrong 90% of the time.

english is my first language, i speak quite fluently, but still the voice recognition don't work well for me.

I have the same problem. Google now only understand american english. Damn mind boggling.

oh god...thinking of sending my unit to service centre to get speaker fixed but still hesitating...how can i live without the device for a week when i cant even put my darling down

I'm not sure if anything changed after Google IO. Last I heard Google Now's recognition engine was only available for English (US). Check to see if it's selectable on the recognition language settings for English (generic).

I've tried Google Now on a GS2 with a custom Jelly Bean rom. It seems to recognize more accurately if I try to pull off a bit of southern accent on it.
