I find Rome 2 a bit hard to get into as compared to the earlier Total War series.
I will try again this weekend.

Creative Assembly unveil Total War: Attila, 'family trees and complete destruction'
QUOTE The next instalment to the grand series of Total War is Attila, and with it we're thrown into the dawn of the Dark Ages. The Roman Empire is on its last legs and barbaric hordes revel in chaos. A terrifying force gathers behind one known as Attila the Hun. Creative offer us the chance to lead this 'herald of destruction' or to try and revive the ailing Roman Empire. 395 AD is when this new Total War journey begins. Creative have also been busy implementing new mechanics of war, like making fire a dynamic threat during battles. "With Total War: ATTILA we will create a Total War game that will challenge and enthral fans of the series,” said Janos Gaspar, project lead on ATTILA. “We’re reintroducing some features that fans have been asking for, such as family trees and skill trees, and improving many of the core aspects of Total War we know are important to them." "But to really bring the period to life, we’re building on these foundations with many new strategic features for them to consider, such as advanced street-fighting, civilians, complete settlement destruction and dynamic fire that can rage across a city as armies clash. We want to push players to the limits of their skill to survive against the odds, and to love every minute of it.” Entire settlement destruction is now possible, which is bad news for the more 'polite' of factions. APOCALYPTIC DESTRUCTION MECHANICS Wield the ferocious power of fire in battle to set buildings ablaze and terrify defenders, or wipe entire cities and regions from the face of the campaign map with the new raze mechanic. LEGENDARY START POSITION Playing as the Western Roman Empire you will begin with vast territories under your control, but weakened by political in-fighting and threatened on all sides by enemies, your dominance will quickly become a struggle to survive. OVERHAULED GAME MECHANICS Improved core gameplay and UI through the latest optimised and modified Total War game mechanics, including politics, family tree, civic management and technological progression. INCREDIBLE PERIOD DETAIL With new period-specific technologies, arms and armaments, religion, cultures and social upheaval, Total War: ATTILA delivers an authentic experience of this ominous chapter of our history. OUTSTANDING VISUAL FIDELITY Improvements and optimisations to both campaign and battle visuals create a chilling vision of a looming apocalypse and the ruin of the civilized world. With breath-taking scale, atmosphere and improved graphical performance, witness the end of days and the rise of a legend. Total War: Attila releases on PC and Mac in 2015. Creative Assembly thinking about Total War: China
QUOTE The Creative Assembly might have picked the fall of Rome as its next setting in the recently announced Total War: Attila, but picking a historical period to cover clearly wasn't an easy choice. Interestingly, when Strategy Informer asked CA artist Pawel Wojs and developer Ed Ainsley at EGX whether they'd ever considered a Total War game set in China, we were told "anything's possible!". "Every time we sit down to discuss the setting of the next game so many different topics and locations come up," explained Wojs. "We discuss the Pros and Cons and end up choosing one. There are various reasons you know?" "It's a huge place of course, and a massive time period... Total War: China - what do you pick?" added Ainsley. "There's so much stuff, you can't possibly put in 4000 years of history! What do you choose that works?" That's not a new problem for the Total War series, which has always had to cherry-pick the most interesting bits from large swathes of history. "We've been there a few times!", admitted Wojs. When our very own Chris Capel posited a Total War: China in which the player unites the kingdoms of China in order to become the First Emperor (he's clearly got this all planned out), Wojs said "Yeah, there's just so many ways to go on that... maybe one day, who knows! Anything's possible!" You heard it here first... Source: Strategy Informer |

Should Attila have its own thread considering it's a different game.

QUOTE(kianweic @ Sep 30 2014, 06:34 AM) Been waiting for this since the 1st Medieval TW. But I think it should play completely differently because the politics is very different in the Warring States era. Here is to hoping it will come after Attila. |

QUOTE(kianweic @ Oct 2 2014, 09:35 AM) I seldom here, mostly at TWC. I will create one but can't access many sites from my office so have to wait for weekend. Now there's a lot more information about Attila and preorder has begun. I think 85 ringgit is quite a good price. Back then expansion like this cost around 110 ringgit. |

Will most likely just wait a few months after release .... after Rome 2 disaster my confident towards CA almost down to 0. Not to mention a few feature that was suppose to be on Rome 2 was rip out and recreated to sell at full price again trough this 2nd expansion.

QUOTE(aliesterfiend @ Dec 9 2014, 04:13 PM) Politic and family tree. The reintroduction of a more political focus and family tree detail to me sounds like a twist from what they have failed in the pass and back those off just to re-introduce them again with a full price and basically screw all those who pre-order rome 2 last time because they aren't going to fix their promise on the original game. |

There's politics which is more meaningful that any previous games (except ETW maybe). Family tree have no function really in 3 centuries campaigns period. Yes it will be nice to have it but it will have no function except to look at your ancestors.Rome II is not RTW 2.0 anyway and I'm glad that it is not. |
