i for once never had any Jewel Recipe till now...only to realize it when ppl began speaking about it few weeks ago..hehe

before this is only : no BS plan drop, no legendary drops, etc

Well you are going to pay never the less BUT the gem which you have invested in can be reused multiple time unless you decide to sell it off. Its a bit different compare to gears. I am still in the process of acquiring end game gears. Once I have acquired an upgrade, the previous gear will depreciate in value to me. But as for gem, I can keep it and upgrade it slowly until i reached Radiant Star grade and reuse them or swap it around all my other character.

there is a reason i nvr bothered to pay much attention to jeweling lol, like most of the players that had explained here, its a ONE time investment, you pay for it, you can reuse it for your entire gameplay life, unlike gears which you will STILL rotate if there is something like an upgrade or whateva, the whole jeweling system is pretty much linear and easy. no need to feel bad spending that 1st few 100k's upgrading em, or if u feel cheaper, u can calculate the cost and snag the higher lvls at cheaper price and npc/AH the lower tiers. High bill or not, its the safest investment in diablo3 system.

I actually bought some low lvl equipment that slotted with Radiant Square gem for less than 50K.

I guess the owner use it to power level their character but forgotten to take out.. lol
The cost for Radiant Square itslef already 140K gold already

not rich just enough lurking power. and contacts and really bored with game until they intro dungeons and other mini games in the game

do most people sell off crafted gems at a lost now?
the price they sell is only slightly higher from the cost of (tomes + gem + craft fee)

im crafting emeralds and the market is too insane now i cant sell any in AH for profit.

most people forget about the 15% transaction fee.
only way is trading it seems

i got a radiance star emerald design in ponies before the patch. sold for 4.5m i think.

some other perfect star designs in a3, like amethyst and emerald also. and one flawless star amethyst design. from a3.

but that is all before 1.03 patch, i got nuts since then

lol oh my .. i didnt have enough gold with me to get that..
i knew so well the price would shoot up yet i couldn buy them in time.

the recipe is close to 10mil now

now is not a good time to buy, but a very good time to sell, but i rly pity those that spend so much just to buy plans that arent supposed to even be priced at that. regardless, poor casual players like me should just self hunt or hope someone can sell it at a normal price.

i can understand how the price shoot up so fast.

because jc plans can almost never drop.
but every player need gems.

after the patch 103, a big drop in the crafting fee, everyone decides to craft their own gems and maybe make a profit out of it too.. lol? doesn't work that way. look at the market now.. pretty much screwed..

unless one is fully devoted into only crafting gems, that can earn u gold overtime. most would just farm off act2 act3 and earn in AH.

Gems are too restricted in a way. people stop buying gems at some point of the game, but eqs dont.
i finished inferno with just flawless square slotted on my eqs. so why spend 20mil on each open slot in my armor?
most people can afford up to star/perfect star in game. it's not worth crafting radiant star for me.. imo.
i'll just get them for achievement sake ha!

not to mention gems trading are often down in AH, and it's not even on RMAH (yet?).

just use star jewels if you are not wealthy, they are good enough.

like myself only use star jewels only even, lol. i feel others not worth it.

i got ts to craft for me flawless stars the other day, slotted them into weapons to sell.

that is why i didnt bothered with gems lol, the profit generation is linear, regardless this doesnt rule out you need someone to learn it either to craft for you. thumbs up to those promotin and helpin us gain access to high lvled gems
